Boston & District Canine Society Championship Show, 6th July 2025

Thank you to the committee of Boston DCS for the invitation to judge Tollers and SWDs. I thoroughly enjoyed both breeds, with some tough decisions made. Thank you to all of the exhibitors for your entry and taking my decisions with such grace.

A lovely young male who caught my eye as he entered the ring, beautiful head of correct proportions, lovely eye and well set ears. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders, good front assembly, deep chested with well sprung ribs. Level topline held on the move, strong in loin. Good bend of stifle. Moved well, covering the ground with ease.

Compact boy with a beautiful head, lovely wedge shape with typical expression. Strong neck into well laid back shoulders. Strong topline, held beautifully on the move. Well angulated in rear. Slightly longer than 2, but in complete balance. Correct tail carriage. Moved well with that typical jaunty action. RBD & BSB

2. Dr K Boyd, Skysaria Eternal Flame JW

Another lovely young male of good size and proportions. Masculine head of correct shape, dark eye, strong neck, good angulation front and rear, well sprung ribs, level topline held beautifully on the move, with correct tail carriage. Moved well.

3. Ms Ed Minshull, Cedarlake Golden Hind

A male of good size with a pleasing overall profile. Lovely head of correct size and proportions, moderate length of neck, good shoulders, good front assembly. Correct topline, held steady on move. Good bend of stifle. Moved true fore and aft. Correct tail set and carriage.

2. Miss H Strevens, Tollisty You Can't Decline

Another lovely male, of differing type, who I'm sure swap places regularly. A beautiful rich colour of coat, correct head with a dark eye, balanced front and rear assembly., Good topline with a correct tail set and carriage, moved out well.

1. Mrs T M & Miss S Westwood, Ir Sh Ch Eusanit Proper Job JW.

Caught my eye the minute he entered the ring. Deep rich in colour and floated around the ring. Head of correct proportions, correct eye, good length of neck set on well laid back shoulders. Correct front assembly with correct length and return of upper arm. Good depth of chest with lovely spring of rib. Good topline held perfectly on the move. Well angulated in rear. Moved out beautifully covering the ground with that typical jaunty action with correct tail carriage. Lovely bone and substance. BD

Good head with correct ears, dark eye of correct shape, good length of neck, nice shoulders, straight legs, correct topline with a good tail set and carriage. Moved well. Just preferred overall balance of 1.

Two quality dogs, who I’m sure swap places. A tough decision in this class.

A pure quality male, correct head with a beautiful wedge shape, pleasing eye, good length of neck, well laid shoulders, correct front assembly. Lovely depth of chest and spring of rib. Level topline, good bend of stifle, correct length of loin, correct tailset. Good feet and straight legs. Moved well, would prefer slightly more animation on the day but I couldn’t deny his quality and balance. BV

2. Miss H Strevens, Sh Ch Erikachen Conaire at Tollisty JW ShCM ShCEx VW

Lovely deep rich colour of coat, beautiful head, correct eye, good length of neck, nice shoulders and return of upper arm, although carrying some weight on his shoulders. Good topline, lovely rear angulation, correct tail and carriage. Moved well fore and aft. 10 and a half years olf and looks fantastic.

Nice rear angulation. nice bone standing on straight legs. Good feet. Moved well, covered ground with lovely jaunty action. Well balanced and in proportion. BP

Another beautiful girl, just preferred shoulders on 1. Lovely head, correct eye. Moderate length of neck, would prefer slightly better laid shoulders, her chest is developing nicely. Level topline, good rear angulation. Correct tail carriage. Lovely profile action on the move.

A larger bitch who needs time to fully mature however she is full of quality and balance. Pretty head with a lovely expression. Good length of neck, nice shoulders, good topline, standing on straight legs and good bone. Lovely rear angulation. Moved with reach and drive and so attentive to her handler.

Another lovely bitch, of differing type to 1. Feminine head with a correct eye and ear set, giving a beautiful expression. Balanced angulation fore and aft, deep chest and well sprung ribs, a well matured bitch. Level topline and tail carriage. Moved well.

This bitch caught my eye in the class from when she stepped in the ring, animated and full of character. Lovely head, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, tight elbows, good front angulation. Straight legs, good feet. Level topline, good rear angulation, correct tailset and tail carriage. Typical jaunty movement moved well fore and aft.

8 year old bitch who is not showing her age at all. Lovely wedge head, dark eye, giving a nice expression, moderate length of neck, good front and rear assembly. Level topline, strong loin, good bone. Nice tailset and carriage. Moved well but preferred reach and drive of 1.

What a class of quality - I’m sure these bitches swap places all the time.

Lovely bitch, who won the class with her movement, jaunty but covered the ground with such ease. Feminine head of good size and proportions. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, correct front assembly. Good forechest, body has good depth, well sprung ribs. Good bone. Dead level topline, well angulated in rear. Lovely tail and carriage. Moved beautifully fore and aft. Lovely coat of correct texture and colour, although not in the fullest of coats, I couldn't deny her quality. She put on a stellar performance in the group, a joy to watch. BB & BOB

Another beautiful bitch, such a tough decision between the two, preferred the head on 1. Lovely rich red colour. Good neck, nice shoulders, good front agulation, lovely forechest. Strong loin, good bend of stifle. Nice topline, good tail carriage. Moved beautifully around the ring. Well matured bitch of perfect substance and well muscled. RBB

Feminine bitch with a nice head. Good proportions, straight legs, good topline, held on the move. Carried tail in pleasing curve. Needs time to mature and for her coat to come in.

Lovely front assembly. Smashing topline, good spring of rib, strong loin, correct rear angulation giving an overall balanced picture. Moved out beautifully, covering the ground. He was a joy to watch in the group. BD & BOB

Another lovely male of good size and balance. Masculine head with a lovely dark eye. Well laid shoulders, lovely depth of chest, correct topline, balanced angulation in front and rear, correct tail set and carriage. Moved well. He was just unsettled on the day and didn't put on his best performance.

14 month old black bitch, lovely feminine head of good proportions and a lovely dark eye. Good front assembly, lovely bone. Correct topline, nice spring of rib for age, moderate angulation behind. Moved well in profile, just ever so slightly close behind. A beautiful temperament.

Nice black bitch, feminine head, dark eye. Good bone, well bodied with lovely spring of rib. Good proportions throughout with balanced angulation. Moved positively, just would prefer the tail carriage slightly lower, she carried it high on the day.

Lovely depth of body and spring of rib, perfect topline held beautifully on the move into a correct tailset. Moderate rear angulation. Correct fore and aft movement. She pushed for BOB. BB & RBOB
