I was very pleased to be invited to judge the breed for the first time at CC Level by the Driffield Show committee. My long-standing appreciation and fondness for PON goes back over 25 years prior to judging them at a Poole Canine Society open show. Show entries do tend to be on the low side often in single figures however I would like to thank everyone for their support in making this a numerically stronger competition today. My stewards did an excellent job keeping the ring flowing on this very busy two show day, thank you.

Unfortunately, a couple of the exhibits were somewhat unhappy with their surroundings. I hope they are more settled for their handlers at future shows. We all have our off days.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st:  BAMFORD, Lady Hazel Mybeards Puddle At Hazdawn.  A confident young male full of character at just 7 months. A masculine head with well-balanced skull and fore-face.  Good head width with stop and furrow.  Well placed shoulders and upper arm showing correct angulation.  A balanced body with nice depth of chest and good bone throughout.  Movement was sound, straight forelegs on approach and a good side profile. His puppy coat is developing well, one to watch as he matures and firms up.  Res CC.

1st:  MOTTRAM, Miss L Ch Mybeards Sweep.  A 2-year-old dog presented in super coat and condition.  Of medium size and well balanced throughout. Lovely head shape with correct proportions in skull and foreface. Good stop, correct ear set and furrow, oval shaped expressive brown eyes.  A strong neck of good length flowing into well laid shoulders and a sound topline. Well angulated forequarters and correct leg to chest ratio.  A gentle slope over the croup with correct smooth tail set. Strong hindquarters, well muscled with firm, well let down hocks.  A very sound mover, elbows well tucked in when viewed from the front.  Side movement showed free and easy reach and drive keeping his level topline. BOB.

2nd:  HARDIE, Miss Michelle Ch Mybeards Huckleberry.  A 6 year old of medium size with a masculine head and expression showing his character and giving me the look of a dog that knows his way around the show ring and is going to do things his way.  A pleasing head pattern and good depth of chest.  Moved soundly but I would prefer a little more length in the leg to match his chest and give that extra reach and drive on the move. 

SPECIAL BEGINNERS BITCH (No Entries)

VETERAN BITCH (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st:  SHRIEVES, Ms L J Int Ch Ir Ch NL Ch Lux Ch Swiss Bel DK Ch Mybeards Hope. Looking good for her 9 years. Very feminine with a pretty head and expression with all points in the right place. Correct balance and angulation both front and rear. Good bone matching her overall size.  Sound on the move fore and aft, in profile kept her firm topline, moving smoothly around the ring.    

2nd:  HARESIGN, Mr & Mrs Andrew & Jane Caselbarn Queen'B.  A slate & white 7 year old with a feminine head of good proportions and brown eyes. Showing her inquisitive character she seemed to be enjoying her day.  Different type to 1st, A little finer overall and on the move not as much drive as the winner.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st:  WARWICK, Miss Julie Ann & WILKINS, Mr Michael Mybeards Sprinkle.  Just 7 months and showing such promise.  Presented in the ring in a calm and steady manner this puppy gave her best.  A medium size head, nice width with furrow and stop, a lively, inquisitive gaze from her oval eyes. Good density to her soft young undercoat which fitted her balanced body neatly, topcoat coming through with the required texture.  When handling I was not disappointed, good neck length, correct front angulation, good lay of shoulders and nicely tucked in elbows, equal depth of chest and forelegs, balanced hindquarters. Lovely free movement with a firm topline. Best Puppy. 

PUPPY BITCH (No Entries)

JUNIOR BITCH (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st:  NAYLOR, Mrs Lesley & NAYLOR, Mr Simon Skaijaks Last N'luksurious. A very attractive youngster of 16 months who came into the ring with a calm disposition.  She has a lovely head with gentle expressive eyes and well carried ears.  Shoulders and upper arm have moderate angulation and she is very well balanced.  Her hindquarter I found very pleasing to go over feeling a well bent stifle and well let down hocks. Movement was very smooth showing good reach and drive.  Super presentation, topcoat needs to develop a little more texture which I am sure will come as she is still quite young. Res CC.

2nd:  KING, Miss Paula Skaijaks Last N' Lumination With Grayona.  Litter sister to my winner.  Showing balanced proportions through the body and looking more mature in coat but under the coat not quite the conformation of the winner being steeper in upper arm and a little short in foreface.  

POST GRADUATE BITCH (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st:  LA FRENAIS, Ms Desi Skaijak's Just N'joyous Of Ponradosc.  A 4 year old of top size.  Pleasing feminine head with correct properties and well-set ears. Strong neck and overall body condition. Angulation of the front and rear was ok. Body was a little long in the loin.  She covered the ground with a moderate stride.

LIMIT BITCH (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st:  CROSIER, Mr Keith & CROSIER, Mrs Sam Skaijaks Kind N' Klassic. Theres a lot to like about this girl. Nearly 3 years old. Well balanced body with good angles front and rear. Lovely balanced head, sweet expression.  On the move side profile was good, nice straight legs at the front, hocks not as firm when she was moving away.

OPEN BITCH (3 Entries) Abs: 2

1st:  MOTTRAM, Miss L Ch Mybeards Hera. A 6 year old very feminine, well boned with a firm outline. A balanced skull and foreface with good stop, defined furrow broad head and well placed ears with moderate, strong neck. Very feminine with good pigmentation and expressive oval eyes.  Well proportioned height to length ratio with good lay back of shoulder and well angulated over the rear.  Movement was sound from all angles an she kept her firm level topline. Carrying a little more weight today than needed. CC.
