Thank you to the committee of Boston & District Canine Society for the invitation to judge Basenjis, to the exhibitors for your entries and also to my 2 very efficient stewards. This has become one of my favourite showgrounds, with well maintained, good sized rings - providing plenty of opportunity to evaluate movement.

1st Place - Lelaps Time Lord (Messrs D & J Knights & Stokes)
What a super dog to start my judging off with. Not the flashiest of boys, but he is very typy. He has a balanced masculine head, neat well set ears, is clean cheeked with sufficient wrinkle. His well arched neck is set into sloping shoulders, he has a good front with straight legs and decent pasterns. He has balanced angulation, is deep in brisket, with ribs well sprung. He is short backed with a well curled tail, and a good shelf behind. All this set off by the best of bright red coats, pliant, short and sleek. He played up a little on the move in his class, but settled in the challenge where he was well coordinated showing a swift, long swinging stride. I was pleased to award him the CC.

1st Place - Bahaticca's Waikiki (Imp Pol) (Miss T Neale) This dark red boy is different in type than the yearling dog, but nevertheless lots to like. He has a well balanced head, excellent small, well set ears and fine wrinkle. I would prefer a darker eye. He is very elegant, being fine boned and long in the forearms, but is a little narrow in body, needing to drop in brisket and strengthen in topline. He is more moderate in angulation than I was looking for. Nevertheless he moved well on a light stride.

1st Place - Am Ch Klassic's Cloudside Walker (Imp Usa) (Mr P & Mrs S & Mr J Hallam & Kite & Gillespie) A well balanced young dog with lots to like. His head is masculine and clean cheeked, he has neat, well set ears and sufficient wrinkle. His well arched neck is set into good shoulders, his forelegs are straight with very long bone with neat feet. He is moderate in angulation and uses this well on the move. On the day he was a little light in condition but is still a young dog who has some maturing to do. I was pleased to award him the RCC today.
2nd Place - Ch Swanwite Take A Chance On Me. ShCEx (Mrs I Legget) A mature male who is stronger all through than the first placed dog and today was carrying a little extra weight which impacted on his overall elegance. He has a good head, which is well balanced with well set ears and an intelligent expression. A good length of neck, set into sloping shoulders. He is well developed in body, with a short level back and deep in brisket. He has balanced angulation and moves on a terrific, long swinging stride.

1st Place - Ch Tokaji Klassic Trickster at Sarawana VW (Mrs S M Knowles) This 8 year old tricolour male is in super condition. He has a masculine, well balanced head, with good ears, dark obliquely set eyes and sufficient wrinkle. He neck is of good length, with sloping shoulders, a straight front of good width and lovely straight forelegs. His back is short and level and he is well angulated both ends. He moved steadily. Pleased to award him Best Veteran.

1st Place - Here We Go Again at Swanwite (Mrs I Legget) A super tricoloured puppy at her first show, showing lots of promise. She has a super temperament and was unfazed by it all. She has a pretty head, with well set on ears and good wrinkle. She has a lovely long neck, long straight forearms and neat feet. She is understandably immature in body and needs to drop in brisket and develop in tuck up. She moved very well for such a young puppy and I was thrilled to see her awarded a well deserved Puppy Group 3.

1st Place - Sarawana Dragonfire Rising JW (Mrs S M Knowles) another youngster who has some maturing to do still. She has a super outline, being lightly built, fine-boned and aristocratic. She has a pretty head, with a lovely dark eye, but her ears could be set further forward on her head. She is well balanced in angulation with the best of fronts, really good in neck and shoulder, short in back with a good tuck up. When she settled, she moved on a light swinging stride. One for the future.
2nd Place - Lelaps River Song (Messrs D & J Knights & Stokes) Different in type being more compact with less elegance all through. However she has a super, well proportioned head and small well carried ears. Her neck is moderate in length and set into sloping shoulders. She has a good front, is deep in brisket and has a short level back. She moved steadily.

1st Place - Sarawana Dragon’s Conquest JW (Mrs S M Knowles) litter sister to the yearling winner and is the more mature of the two. She has a pleasing head with dark eyes and wrinkle. She is another more compact bitch, with excellent angulation, short in back and deep in brisket. Her tail is well set on, with plenty of shelf behind. She moved soundly once settled.

Ist Place Tokaji Memphis Belle (Mrs D & Mrs P Hardy & Hallam) My Best Puppy when I last judged the breed. She has matured well into a very typy bitch, being lightly built, poised and alert. She has a super balanced outline, nothing overdone, and everything flowing nicely. Her head is very well proportioned, with good length of muzzle, well shaped dark eyes, small well set, slightly hooded, ears and good wrinkle. Her neck, shoulders and front assembly are excellent and she has good depth in brisket and a short level back leading to a well carried tail with enough shelf behind. All topped off with a very fine coat and pliant skin. She moved with a swift swinging stride looking very smart indeed. I was pleased to award her crowning CC along with BOB. Congratulations.
2nd Place - Ch Tokaji Moon over Miami with Mutoko JW ShCEx OSW (Mrs P Nash) A well known champion and my Best Bitch last time I judged her. She has lost none of her sparkle and showmanship and was unlucky to meet first placed today who I just preferred for type. She too has a super head, front, is deep in body and balanced in angulation. However, she is slightly longer in outline than 1st and not as strong in topline. In immaculate condition, her beautiful tricolour coat simply sparkled. She is a very impressive mover with a super swinging stride. Pleased to award her the RCC on the day.
