Dobermanns
Having grown up with the breed for my whole life, watching the many changes in my short time compared to some but I have to say and I’m sure without any surprises there are some concerns for the breed.
We have to remember the standard calls for substance with ELEGANCE. We are losing the elegance, with blocky heads, deep stops with upright shoulders and short necks resulting in high withers and that exaggerated slope to the Topline is becoming the normal.
Very few still have the desired balanced shape and ‘curves’.
I found abruptness from the neck into the shoulders lacking in lay of shoulder and return of upperarm which results in lack of reach.
Toplines roach in profile which some clever handlers can straighten on the stack but this cannot be hidden on the move.
The standard asks for elastic and free movement this was very seldom seen throughout as a whole worldwide.
However I must make clear this is all said with best interests for the breed!
Please please do not get hung up on one point for the breed and disregard the rest, look at the whole dog.
Look for balance first and foremost as I fear we will shortly be at a stage in the breed that we do not want to be in.
I was very pleased with my winners and there are correctly built dogs out there but we have to be clever and broad minded with the lines and construction that are combined.

Not the biggest of males but is completely in proportion for bone and substance. Head is correct length with a slight stop. Eye colour correct but shape could be more almond. Head planes almost parallel, correct clean arched neck into a well laid shoulder and correct return of upperarm. Topline slightly slopes with correct croup and tailset. 244 - Zinedine Zidane Elite House del Diego (Imp Pol) (Mrs T & Mr I Mccall & Broughton) this male I liked the most for his attitude, edge and fire which I so miss in the breed. On his toes the entire time and on some occasions more than his runner. He has a very well chiselled head of correct width and length. Slight stop with a dark almond eye. Excellent head planes, enough length of neck into a firm topline and correct tailset. He is balanced in both his angles but I would prefer more either side to complete the overall picture. Moves true coming and going and showing enough drive in profile but did need to drop down a gear to settle.

253 - Krieger's Lasting Image JW (Miss L Stracey), a complete showman who instantly draws your eye. He is clean in outline but longer in body than preferred. Head is correct in length and width. Almond shape eye which could be a shade darker. Correct underjaw and clean dewlap, long clean arch neck into a reasonable shoulder but would benefit from a better return of upperarm. Firm topline with correct croup and tailset, well angled rear with good width of second thigh. Moves true coming and going but would prefer more drive in rear and forward reach.
2nd Place
233 - Evalesco Ego Boost JW (Mrs C & Mr A Hickling) Shorter and more square than one but not the flowing outline. Head is clean wedged shape, dark almond eye with a slight stop. Correct underjaw. Clean neck. Shoulder placement is further forward than desired which brings his wither higher than required. Topline is hard and sloping with correct croup and tailset. Correct bone and substance. well angled rear. Moves true coming and going, just lacking the fluency in profile.

235 - Ch Tuwos Mr Majestik Vonsallate (Mr G & Miss M Hunt & Flitcroft) Presents a square short body, Head is clean with a slight stop, eye colour correct but would prefer more almond in shape and being picky a little more length of muzzle, correct underjaw. Clean arch neck into an acceptable shoulder lay with correct return of upperarm. Firm slightly sloping topline into a clean well filled croup and correct tailset. His angles are balanced fore and after. His outline is clean compact and flowing but what put him above others was his clean footfall out and back. He shows reach in profile and the desired rotary action behind. Put down in excellent order with a great rapport between his handler. Another that I liked the attitude of who was confident and forward at all times.

228 - Ch Amazon Just Let Me Adore You JW (Mr R Evans) I have admired this quality female since I first saw her at 6 mths and my opinion has not changed! When I saw her in the line I was looking forward to getting a closer look. She presents a clean flowing outline, head is wedged shape with correct planes. Dark almond eyes. Correct length of muzzle with correct underjaw. Neck is clean and flows into her well laid shoulders and correct return of upperarm. To be hyper critical I would prefer a touch more leg length however there was nothing that could match her profile movement. She excelled in reach above all others. Clean flowing slightly sloping topline into her correct croup and tailset. Balanced angles fore and aft. Moves true going away but could be cleaner coming towards however this did not deterr as she is a superb example of the breed in many other aspects to this one flaw. She holds her outline when moving, she is free, flowing and elastic profile which is everything I want. My CC and subsequently BOB
2nd Place
214 - Ch/lux Ch Krieger's Highland Fling JW (Mrs J Bisland) a female who was in excellent hard condition who presents a clean outline. Head is of correct length with almond shape eyes. Planes nearly parallel. Long arched neck into a reasonable shoulder and return of upperarm,. Topline is firm and hard but tends to roach at times. Correct tailset. Well muscled rear. She had an abundance of attitude and always wanted to go which sometimes was a disadvantage to her. Moves completely true out and back but could match the profile fluency of 1.
