The Hound Association Championship Show
18th July 2025
Thank you all who entered (whether it was for Jean Luc or myself) it was a really lovely entry and very much appreciated. Also thanks to my two super-efficient stewards. Things I noticed on the day were that there were more exhibits with untypical short middle toes, some short tails, and ear set needs attention as some - even though obviously alert - were set on the low side. Aside from a couple of exhibits the salukis shown were very well presented, just need to keep on top of teeth where a number were needing a clean, and also nails in need of a trim. Movement is still varied, but I was pleased to see fewer over-angulated hindquarters than previous judging appointments. It was a shame the weather was so unseasonably wet and judging had to take place inside, as salukis generally show better on grass, however no complaints about the size of indoor ring provided, it was a very good alternative.
PD 3:0 1 Ince’s Artilily Wilde Physically a quite mature black & silver chap. Attractive masculine head with correct eye and typical expression. Generally, he’s well put together with a good forehand and deep brisket. Would prefer more slope to pastern and a better defined cut-up but that may come with age. Strong hindquarters with good width to first and second thigh, with low hocks. Confident and moved well for a youngster showing balanced, light lifting, true action.2 Mclatchie’s Artilily Hemingway Black tri-colour elegant brother to winner although of a more rangy less mature type. He has a lovely head, eye and expression with a long neck. Would prefer his shoulders laid a bit further back and less length between stifle and his nice low hocks. Moved quite well with a good balanced stride. 3 Ulyatt’s Yamadan Kn Aijaz Haalim (Imp USA)
JD 2:0 1 Strong’s Xerxes Omar Ter Dolen (Imp Bel) This quality mature b/f red boy was well presented in excellent coat and physical condition. Masculine head with typical expression. Long neck runs smoothly into well laid forehand, deep brisket carried well back. Desired moderate rear angulation with good width to first & second thigh, with low set hocks, and long well-set tail. Moved soundly with light free flowing gait. Should have a bright future2.Jackson-Main’s - Ravensett Ashraf Attractive red of finer type, refined head with lovely well shaped eyes, desired expression and black pigmentation. He needs time to fill his frame. Would prefer more slope to shoulder for cleaner lay of neck into forehand. Strong hindquarters with good width to both first and second thigh and long tail. needs to tighten up in front both standing and on the move.
YD 1:1abs SBD 2:1abs 1 Reynolds & Black’s Browenha’s Eastern Promise A B/F/Red boy with an attractive head, eye, good pigmentation and typical expression, would just like a bit more underjaw. Shown in lovely condition with good angulation fore and aft and deep brisket plus correct topline. Looked okay side on and moving away but he flicked his pasterns on approach.
PG 4:0 1 Glaister’s Jorjenjo Rafiq Al Khas Quality cream boy with an attractive head complimented by excellent pigmentation and typical gentle expression. Generally well put together with a long neck into well laid back shoulders. I feel his elbows would ideally be better set a bit closer to his brisket. He moved soundly in all directions with desired light, balanced and driving action.2 Barrett’s U’zelim Des Hauts De Heurteloup (Imp Fra) A masculine B/F fawn with a handsome head, correct eye and typical expression. A bit heavy over his shoulders and short & straight in upper arm. Desired depth of brisket carried well back. Nice slope to pasterns and correct feet. A good sweep to his hindquarters with a correctly set and carried tail and nice low pasterns. Moved well.3 Schafer’s Tin Soldier
LD 11:0 A very strong class 1 Pyatt & Cotterill’s Wazifi Alsasha Abda This quality b/f/red boy has certainly matured, shaped up and strengthened beautifully since l judged him as a pup. Portraying masculine elegance and of a type we used to see some years ago. He has balance throughout with a beautiful head, lovely eye and correct pigmentation overall, well set long ears and good strong neck set smoothly into a well laid forehand. Deep brisket, ribbing and correct rise over loin with a lovely cut up. He has a good sweep to his hindquarters with desired width in first and second thigh, low set hocks and correct feet. His tail is long and well set. On the move he was sound in all directions with light, balanced, effortless strides with lovely drive from behind. CC 2 Phillips’ Luachmhar Javan A black fawn grizzle of very elegant type and quality. Super head, eye and expression, correct ear length and set. Long well-muscled neck flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders with rise over top line. Possesses required return of upper arm and correctly bladed bone, desired slope of pastern and well arched toes of good length. Deep brisket carried well back, good ribbing and ideal neat cutup. Strong hindquarters. Presented in very good coat and muscle he moved with a light easy balanced action in all directions. RCC3 Postma’s Classicus Fuad
OD 13:1abs Another very strong class 1 Chippendale's Flytesfield Hyddwn One who I’ve judged and admired before, pressed hard for top honours on the day and I’m sure he’ll attain his title. A quality, moderately sized dark fawn sable, who presented a well-balanced picture throughout and I am sure he will attain his title soon. He has a beautiful, sculpted head and expression with super, long neck into well laid forehand. He has filled in now in front and also has a deep brisket, correct top and underlines and lovely sweep to his moderately angulated hindquarters. Moved lightly and well in all directions with good balanced driving action.2 Campling’s Ch Classicus Octavius Quality feathered boy who I have previously awarded highly and again he pushed the winner hard. Mature masculine golden cream possessing an attractive head with dark pigmentation and a gentle expression. His long neck flows smoothly into his well laid forehand. Deep brisket and neat cut up. Lovely gentle rise over loin, strong hindquarters with good width and length to second thigh, low hocks and correct feet. Well set long tail. Moved soundly in all directions. Presented in superb bloom.3 De Souza & De Souza & Woodgate’s Luachmhar Jalil
VD 3:1abs 1 Shaverneva & Rhodes’ Qazal Sarbaz Har Kala Rachi Aw(b) Aw(s) (Imp Bel) I haven’t judged this smooth since he was a very immature minor puppy, he’s now a mature, more filled out chap. He is of a fine athletic build, possessing a good balanced shape overall with a lovely head and dark well shaped eyes. His long neck flows into his well laid forehand, good top and underlines and has strong hindquarters with good width and length of second thigh. Correct feet. Although he was a bit erratic in front movement he moved out lightly and with light balanced strides. Presented in super condition.2 Clanford’s Canapus Fortuna (Imp Nld) Cream boy with more substance than first. Strong masculine head with super pigmentation. Balanced overall with long neck into a well laid forehand, deep brisket though would prefer a bit less spring of rib. Somewhat straight in pastern and although well arched I would prefer longer toes. Good top and underlines and moderately angulated hindquarters. Moving he looked balanced from side but less positive fore and aft.
PB 4:1abs 1 Warner & Hetherington’s Savuka Shakira Promising very mature cream who possesses good pigmentation, an attractive head with correct ear set well shaped eyes. Her neck fits well into a correctly laid forehand. She has lovely depth of brisket, good top line and cut up. Hindquarters strong with nice low set long tail. Good width to first and second thigh and hocks well let down. Moved well in all directions. BP 2 Hamilton’s Artilily Bronte Lovely confident black and silver grizzle at a less mature stage than the winner but with lots of potential. Pretty head with typical expression possessing well shaped dark eyes, good set and length of ear leathers. Her neck is long and set into a well laid forehand. Good depth of brisket. Correct top and underlines, well angulated hindquarters moved truly with light easy action. 3 Flytesfield One in A Million (Mrs L A Harkett)
JB 2:0 1 Hamilton’s Artilily Bronte 2 Bryla’s Ravensett La Duquesa A refined red with more maturing to do. She has a pretty head enhanced by lovely dark eyes and good pigmentation, though would prefer less stop. Well feathered ears. Long neck set into good forehand. Good top and underline for age. Lovely moderate hindquarters with good width to first and second thigh well let down hocks. Long correctly set tail. Moved well viewed from front and side with light easy action just a bit close behind.
YB 1:1abs
SBB 2:1abs 1 Price’s Waady Al Jamila Taher Moderately sized black & silver girl who, like this owner’s other exhibit, lacked show presentation in respect of coat cleanliness having a pungent odour. That aside she was adequately bodied and in strong muscular condition. Rather strong in head not flattered by a fluffy topknot. Dark eye with correct pigmentation. Her neck leads into fairly upright shoulders. Brisket carried back sufficiently, reasonable cut up, strong hindquarters but too much length from second thigh to hock. Would like a longer tail and she also has short feet. For me she lacked balance all through. Erratic front action, reasonably sound viewed side on and from behind.
PGB 3:0 1 Davies' Zafaraniyeh Dashte Kavir B/F/Fawn of racy type who still has some maturing to do. She is well balanced and possesses a beautiful head with a typical expression. Large dark, well-shaped eyes and good pigmentation. Long neck set into well laid forehand with good fill in of fore chest. Good top and underlines moderately angulated hindquarters with low hocks. Moved quite well fore and aft. 2 Steel’s Shahdad Darya Dinazad at Ceimiad (Imp Deu) Pretty cream who also needs to mature. She has an attractive head with a beautiful expression possessing big dark oval eyes, long ear leathers. Long neck into well laid back shoulder, good return of upper arm but would like them tighter to her brisket. Adequate depth and very neat tuck-up. Her hindquarters are quite angulated with reasonable width to second thigh but a bit too much length from stifle to hock. Good feet. Correct rise over loin. and well set long tail. Moved nicely viewed side on but close behind and rather narrow in front. 3 WITHHELD
LB 5:0 1 Davies’ Zafaraniyeh Dashte Margo Moderately sized black tri-colour who appeals for her elegance and overall construction. Pretty head with dark, oval typical eyes and lovely expression. Long neck flows into well laid forehand. Deep brisket carried well back to her neat cut up. Strong topline with gentle rise over loin. Possesses moderately angulated hindquarters with desired width of first and second thigh and low hocks. Exhibited in lovely condition and her movement was light, sound and with purpose viewed from all directions. RCC 2 Mackenzie Loughran’s Classicus Ophelia A lovely feathered feminine gold. Possesses a pretty head with kind expressive dark eyes. She has a well arched neck which fits into a good layback of shoulder. Reasonable return of upper arm and fill in of fore chest. Deep brisket with good tuck up and topline. Nicely angulated hindquarters with well let down hocks. Long correctly set tail. Moved fairly well in front and viewed side on but close behind. Beautifully presented and in superb bloom.3 Della Rocca’s Azamour Zhara
OB 7:2abs 1 Phillips’ Ch Luachmhar Jamilah ShCEx I first judged this gorgeous black & fawn grizzle a couple of years ago and rated her highly then. She has blossomed into a beautifully finished picture and wasn’t to be ignored. Epitomises feminine elegance, grace and strength combined she fits the standard beautifully, with a refined, balanced head and typical aloof expression, framed by long well-set glamorously feathered ears, her long strong neck flows smoothly into her well-constructed forehand. Good fill in of fore chest, long bladed bone to her straight forelegs, good pasterns and well arched toes of correct length. Deep brisket carried back to a lovely, neat cut-up. Gentle rise over loin and curve to croup. Strong moderately angulated hindquarters with low hocks, long correctly set tail carried well on the move. Moved with pleasing symmetry showing her lovely light, effortless movement when viewed from all directions. Gives the distinct impression she could hunt with speed, stamina and agility. CC & BoB 2 Velickaite’s Al Nafiseh Ivory Pearl (Imp Rus) A well-presented quality cream built on heavier lines than first. She has a typical head with black pigmentation, large dark oval eyes, long mobile well-set ears, strong neck into her well laid back shoulders. I would prefer her elbow set closer to her body, though she does have required return of upper arm. Would like more slope to pastern. Deep brisket carried well back and good cut up, she has a gentle rise over her loin but falls away behind that. Her tail is long and low set. Hindquarters are strong, however would like less length of second thigh to hock. Good feet. Moved well viewed side on 3 Everton’s Savuka Rashiqah with Kasra
VB 6:1abs 1 Phillips’ Ch Vidana Amira S Berega Turi ShCM ShCEx VW (Imp Rus) A beautiful black & silver of much quality. Turned out in super condition that belies her veteran status. Like many salukis she has matured so well with age. Beautiful head and kind expression. Her good neck flows into a well laid forehand. Deep brisket carried back correctly, with gentle rise over loin and super tuck up. Nicely angulated hindquarters with low set hocks. Tail well set and carried well. On the move she was sound when viewed moving in all directions. BV 2 Williams Tigsisle Totally Unique Appealing cream with a pretty head, correct eyes and typical expression, would just prefer a bit more refinement in muzzle. She is very well constructed with her long neck flowing into well laid forehand. Deep brisket and good top and underlines. Strong hindquarters with good width to her first and second thighs with low set hocks. Good feet and lovely long tail. Moved well in all directions. 3 Woolmers’s Al Nafiseh Flowering Sage (Imp Rus)
