Large Munsterlander

My third time awarding challenge certificates in this breed, my thanks for the super entry, there were very few absentees, it was lovely to see entries across all the age restricted classes, which bodes well for the future.

I would say that bites and dentition were excellent as were temperaments, despite the at times, overwhelming noise in the hall this, robust HPR breed copied admirably. Coats, without exception were correct and the dogs were in all in very good, through to, superb condition.

My overriding comment was at the breeds seem to be at risk of having stronger more substantial bitches than dogs, in terms of bone, substance and overall size. My principal winners were as follows.

DCC Sh Ch Albadhu Counting Stars (Mrs A Webb)

RDCC Kamaze Dance in The Dark (Mr P W Disney)

BCC Dual Ch Raycris The Temptress (Mrs C & Dr R A W Ogle & Suchett-Kaye)

RBCC Sh Ch Albadhu Final Encounter (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

BOB Dual Ch Raycris The Temptress (Mrs C & Dr R A W Ogle & Suchett-Kaye)

BP Albadhu I'm Addicted to You (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

BV Crumpsbrook Molinia (Mrs J Bargman)

BSB Leriton Ara (Miss A M & Mr A Thomas & Phillips)

1ST Albadhu Force Be with You (Mrs J Jenks)

Lovely chap maturing well, super depth, good proportions, a little high in rear at the current time, but forgivable given his age, tight feet, appealing head, well off for forechest, and balanced in angles. Good coat. Had to settle for BPD as his sisters were quite something, but this chap is more than capable of holding his own.

2ND Leriton Ara (Miss A M & Mr A Thomas & Phillips)

Less mature than 1, more moderate and longer in body, inquisitive attitude, excellent muscle, level topline, superb dark eye and wide nostrils, good length of ear. Just a lacked a little togetherness compared to 1 but full of early promise and much to like.

1ST Leriton Lupus (Mr M & Mrs C Wakefield)

Male of good size and substance liked his proportions and bone, substance without heaviness lovely head with a slightly roundedness and dark eye, could be a touch deeper in chest well marked and good coat, moved well.

2ND Leriton Ophiuchus (Mr M & Mrs C Wakefield)

Less settled than 1 which cost him today, he is longer but has the depth that 1 lacked and a slightly better forechest, excellent tight feet and moved soundly, just needs to settle and stand himself to best advantage, which will all come in good time.

1ST Crumpsbrook Jager (Mrs C J & Mr A J Graham)

Lovely young chap, just right for age, relaxed easy temperament with a demonstrably affectionate side, movement was sound and ground covering – liked his head and expression and well off for angles, would prefer him a touch better coming and going, but otherwise much to like, appealed and first glance and didn’t disappoint to handle.

1ST Ekkolander Merlot (Mr M & Mrs C Wakefield)

Upstanding male, moderate in angles but balanced, really scores in a wide rib moderate stop slightly dome to head, ear could be a touch longer, nice tight feet, a muscle and condition that many would envy, sense he would happily work all day long.

1ST Kamaze Dance in The Dark (Mr P W Disney)

Liked this chap, appealed as a fully mature male, had that strong muscular body I was seeking, super body, deep rib, correct bone, hocks well down, level topline slightly higher at withers, head on the heavier side but not in correct, on the move he was unsettled, but I liked this type, which is why he headed the class.

2ND Foxy Gabber Uut 't Vossebeltseveld for Kamaze (Imp Nld) (Mrs K & Mr R Caile)

Another good sort, narrower in head, good coat, very well presented, a touch narrower all through, but he is balanced with a longer upper arm, correct shoulders and nice coat, lovely dark eye, didn’t have the body and finish of one, but there is time.

Open Dog

A class full to brim of mature males, all shown in fabulous condition and beautifully presented, it was a real treat.

1ST Sh Ch Albadhu Counting Stars (Mrs A Webb)

A little unassuming this chap, but to handle, everything is textbook, depth and spring to his rib giving that strong muscular body that sets the breed apart, a condition that many would envy, well bent stifles, shorter in loin than most, neck proportionate and a roundness to his skull that many lacked, On the move he was springy and sound, could be tidier coming and going undoubtably but I couldn’t resist his type. A pleasure to assess.

2ND A Foxy Gozer Uut’t Vossebeltseveld (Imp Nld) (Mr R J & Mrs J A Siddons)

A mature male, in the fullest of coat, lovely round feet, in outline he is typical and of correct proportions but can stand a little long, super bone, lovely head and expression which appeared, and he showed very well, ear and furnishings of lovely length, correct and the kindest of eyes and a temperament to match.

3RD Vonstrahlend Kam Das Leben (Mrs N M & Mr I Griffiths-Rose & Griffiths)

Champion Dog

1ST Sh Ch Graf Iii vom Busshof at Albadhu (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

Mature chap for just two years old, really scores in length and angle of upper arm, good depth, slightly higher at withers, good length, right amount of bone, on the move he was as I anticipated springy, lively but ground covering and not exaggerated in anyway. Superbly presented. His quality is undeniable but today he was determined to demonstrate just how challenging these Germanic breeds can be and battled his handler all day, giving way to the Open Winner, however that was no reflection on his quality.

1ST Albadhu I'm Addicted to You (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

What a find and what a wise old owl this little gem is, in body and outline she is spot on, lovely bone and a reach of upper arm and lay back of shoulder that many would envy, on the move she didn’t disappoint. Her outline is spot on, she has a strength of topline that older exhibits would envy, I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if this lady, starts amassing high honours in the future. I adored her and she stuck with in the days between judging and preparing my critqueu.

2ND Leriton Antlia (Ms C & Mrs L Simpson & Johnston)

A less mature youngster that has all the right attributed just not as settled, a depth that many would envy another who scores in front, a little narrow all the way through, but I suspect she is slow maturing, so it will all come together in good time.

1ST Albadhu I'm Mad About You (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

Another one form the top draw, shown in immaculate condition, she is balanced with a depth that many would envy the correct coat emerging nicely, she has a topline that some adults would like, a touch longer but not in correct, a sweet feminine head too. Her rear action as she steps away, is spot on. Ill do doubt giver her sister a good run for her money.

2ND Leriton Corvus Astron (Ms C & Mrs L Simpson & Johnston)

A lovely exhibit with much to like, not as settled today and not quite putting her best foot forward, she was sound, alert and typical and however and just needs a little more practice and her time will come. Long and free striding and made easy work of the large ring.

1ST Albadhu I'm Mad About You (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

 See Puppy Bitch.

2ND Ekkolander Rumour (Mrs K M Saynor)

A quality youngster with everything in the right place and maturing well, liked her for bone and underline, and level topline she moved well and gave a good account of herself, eye would benefit from being a touch darker. To complete and otherwise good picture.

Yearling Bitch

1ST Almonrigg Sweet Honey Baby at Jendella's (Mr D A & Mrs B M Butler)

Took my eye immediately liked her type and substance without being overdone, could imagine her going all day with some ease, she is lovely size and substance with a good rib my notes say ‘wouldn’t be surprised if she is deserving of higher honours’, her time will come I am sure, but she has time on her side.

2ND Crumpsbrook Anki (Mrs J Bargman)

A more moderate and smaller bitch but not incorrect, perhaps paying the price for less coat, which will no doubt come with time, she sowed beautifully and was very well presented, a little longer but not in correct, with lovely tight feet and a sweet expression.

1ST Tarkanya Ritas Ruby with Destanli (Mrs L Robins)

A quite unassuming bitch who deserves a little more confidence in herself, on the move she wasn’t animated enough sadly, a touch wide in front, she scores in head and expression where she is correct and feminine, good body and tuck up and quite typical in outline despite moderate angles, she was a pleasure to handle.

Limit Bitch

1ST Tureagh Crystal Cider (Ms J E & Mr A E Powell & Murrell)

Won on type, couldn’t resist her type, strong topline, the best of muscle and condition, lovely one, a pretty and intelligent expression, not the best coming and going but her other attributes outweighed these, lovely size and the gentlest of temperaments, who gave me the sense of being easy to train.

2ND Toberworry Little Lies (Mr P & Miss H J Foreman)

A four-year-old mature bitch with much to like, today she was a touch let down by her coat, which was a little woolly , I liked her type and size and thought she was well balanced, had a tendency to look stuffy in the neck and shoulders, moved very well.

3RD 435 - Crumpsbrook Anneke to Incadar (Mr G T & Mrs J Darby)

Open Bitch

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1ST Jaudas On The Road Again (Mr T J & Mrs L O'connell)

Upstanding bitch a little narrow in muzzle but otherwise a very pretty head and expression, plenty of length but scores in rib, on the move she glided around soundly but was a touch flat footed which was a bit of a distraction, in super hard condition perhaps a touch out of coat.

2ND Ekkolander Persephone Red at Leriton (Ms C & Mrs L Simpson & Johnston)

Lively bitch demonstrating typical HPR tendencies, good depth and well off for angles, and correct topline, just not as settled and 1 today sadly, but I am sure that her time will come. Unmistakably feminine and showed well but doesn’t always stand or move to best advantage.

Champion Bitch

Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

What a joy this class was a sight for any breed enthusiast.

1ST Dual Ch Raycris The Temptress (Mrs C & Dr R A W Ogle & Suchett-Kaye)

6-year-old bitch loved her type and size, to handle she is spot on, super feet, correct coat and good angles to the rear with just enough to the front, substance and body and couldn’t resist, her outline is just as one expects, being typical and of substance giving the impression of being able to work over tough terrain all day without tiring. Her Dual Champion status rather implies that she can indeed do so! That said she had a femininity about her and I thought her rather special.

2ND Sh Ch Albadhu Final Encounter (E & F Logie & Braidwood)

A beautiful bitch, not to be denied she just lacked the maturity of one, but its not surprising as she is significantly younger, a little longer in body but not incorrect, she really came into her own as she settled and relaxed and stood like a picture during the critique - typically, I lovely feet, cracking feminine head well off for lip, good length to her ear feathering day eye and was springy and athletic moving around.

1ST Crumpsbrook Molinia (Mrs J Bargman)

This lovely exhibit couldn’t help but make you smile, with an ever wagging somewhat merry tail, she was thoroughly enjoying her day out, lovely type outline and size, super condition and tight feet, hocks well down, well bent pasterns and moved with ease and in style. I was delighted to award her BV.

2ND Sh Ch Braccpoint Song of The Wind for Gemlorien (Mrs H J Ward)

A taller narrow bitch but not in correct I loved her coat and colouring and dark eye which held so much femininity, she was spot on for size and had the most lovely temperament, moved very soundly for an older lady, just lacked the showmanship of 1 today, sadly, but no doubt she can still challenge the best.

3RD 437 - Wonglepong Willows Sunbird (Mr P W Disney)
