My second time awarding Challenge Certificates in this delighted breed. There were no overriding issues or concerns, one or two males appeared a little unsettled, which I hope was a one off and the norm. Eye shape and set was quite varied which gave one or two less appealing expressions. I was looking for that typical distinctive Brittany outline, which I was delighted to find. Disappointing for the breed that there was an absence of younger entrants, which I hope it not representative of wider issues or dwindling numbers. My thanks to my super steward Robert Potts, who as ever, was the ultimate professional.

I was pleased with my principle winners who were very much of a type, I note that they are by the same dog, who I believe sired one or two of principle winners last time I judged.

Post Graduate Dog (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 4072 TAYLOR, Mr K & GILL, Mrs Catherine Unique De La Riviere Ouareau Avec Amfreville (Imp). A mature male, plenty of body, good leg to depth of chest ration, correct angles to the fore and rear, having a touch more rear angulation, slightly sloping topline, particularly impressive on the move, where he covered the boggy ground with some ease.

Limit Dog (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 4067 GRAHAM, Mrs Linda & YARROW, Mrs Janette Bonapartist Thierry. This chap appealed immediately, unsettled on the move, but he soon improved, his chest is genuinely deep and wide, foreleg length was slightly greater than chest depth, moderate stifles, he had a typical brisk short stride and held his correct topline, his head and expression was spot on. DCC, his first I believe, I am sure that once he settles a touch more there will be many more the follow.

2nd: 4066 DROZDOVA, Mrs Aukse Maliik Team Del Crepo (Imp Serb) Much to like about this chap, particularly appreciated his upper arm and shoulder placement, another with good rib, short strong loin, body coat was correct being both dense and fine, he was beautifully presented, he lost out to 1 as his head was a touch stronger than I would prefer. But he is all male, workmanlike and shows very well.

Open Dog (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 4069 NICHOLLS, Mr & Mrs & Miss G Sh Ch Minama Unforgettable At Stonesview (ikc) A Younger exhibit, with a maturity beyond his age, he appealed at first glance and didn’t disappoint on the individual inspection, correct proportions all over, giving that typical typey online, moved very, being typical and coordinated, head, expression and eye really appealed with a rounded skull, parallel toplines and an oval eye. RDCC.

2nd: 4068 NICHOLLS, Mr & Mrs & Miss G Bonapartist Trooper Of Stonesview Many of the same comments apply super head and eye, slightly longer in body than 1 but not incorrect in anyway, sound topline, correct moderate read angulation, moved well but not with the same determination as 1.

3rd: 4073 WILLIAMS, Mrs Km & DROZDOVA, Mrs A Sh Ch Czech Ch Bonapartist Peaky Blinder Avec Auks

1st: 4061 ANDERSON, Mrs Barbara Ann & ANDERSON, Mr John Rochus Alizee This lady appealed so very much, she couldn’t help but make you smile, the sweetest of expressions, with the most soulful correct slightly oval eye, Shoulder blades wide and elbows close to body, body just as it should be for age, correct dense coat emerging, on the move she was tentative but oh so correct, one to watch. 1st: 4062 ANDERSON, Mrs Barbara Ann & ANDERSON, Mr John Rochus Tina A petite compact bitch, full of type and femineity in abundance, a touch longer than some but not in any way incorrect, can drop her topline a little, but when it comes together she is quite the picture, lovely head, full of expression, strong dentition, scores in depth and body to leg ratio.

Open Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: 4071 SLACK, Mrs S & SLACK, Miss Megan Bonapartist Snow Goose. I haven’t judged this bitch before, she is moderate to the rear, but otherwise wholly correct, loved her type and outline and attitude, super coat, beautifully presented, correct slightly sloping topline, body and loin handle correctly, you could easily image her working all day, she has femineity and type in abundance. It was my pleasure to award her the BCC, her third I believe and BOB over the handsome male. She was beautifully handled and had a rapport that many would envy – congratulations.

2nd: 4074 YARROW, Mr & Mrs Paul & Janette Sh Ch Pesh Di Val Grossa Of Bonapartist (Imp) It. A bitch that is full of quality and type, she just didn’t have her eye on the prize today and seemed distracted, she is super to handle, with the correct angles fore and rear and proportions in body, with that slightly sloping topline, on the move she is sound and typical but didn’t really gather herself to show herself off to best advantage, hence she gave today.
