Driffield Championship Dog Show

Breed: Bedlington Terrier

I appreciated the nice entry awaiting me at Driffield Championship Show where I was awarding Challenge Certificates for the first time in Bedlington Terriers. |My thanks to my very efficient steward for the day, Lisa, who kept the event running smoothly.

I had some nice dogs to go over, however my concerns were size and high tail carriage.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS – DOG – 2 – 1 AB

1. STOBBS – SILVERKINN FRENCH FANCY – well presented, narrow in skull, good scissor bite, eyes were dark and ears were well placed. His neck was a fair length and has a straight front with good bone and feet. His body looked a tad too long and tail carriage could be lower. Showed well.

VETERAN DOG – 0

PUPPY DOG – 1

1. SCOTT – MICKLEVIEW HARVEST MOON – ten and a half months old and up to size for his age. Masculine, narrow and rounded skull, he has a good scissor bite and moderately sized ears. He has a good tapering neck, deep muscled chest. He has a straight front with correctly shaped feet, arched loin and muscled hindquarters, coat had a good texture. Tail could be carried a tad lower.

JUNIOR DOG – 3

1. FLETCHER – SHARNOR SULTAN OF SPICE – I liked his size, he was very well presented and in good condition. He has a proportioned, pear shaped head, black nose and a good bite. His neck was a good length, front was straight with good feet. His hindquarters are well angulated with a gentle arch evident. Chest was deep and fairly broad with a good tuck up. Movement was sound and showed well. RDCC

2. WILKINSON – MARISTELLA MITENA AMONG DURHAMITES – pleasing shaped head with no stop. Good bite, small bright eyes, nice ear placement, would prefer tighter lips. Ok in bone, good shaped feet and a muscular body. Preferred winners arch over the loin Moved a tad out at the elbows.

3. Silverkinn French Fancy

1. OFFER – WOOLYTOP THE PHEZANTPLUKKA JW – an eye catching dog presented in immaculate coat and condition. He is balanced in appearance. His head is a lovely pear shape, eyes dark and bright, nicely filled under the eyes and tight lips and good filbert shaped ears He has large teeth with a correct scissor bite , neck was a good length and tapering . His front was straight with pleasing bone and long hare feet with thick pads. His body was muscular and has a gentle curve over his loin. Hindquarters were well angulated and hocks were strong and well let down. His movement was sound both ways and his tail was curved and set on low. DCC BOB I was pleased to learn he gained his second DCC later in the afternoon.
