CRUFTS CRITIQUE - SALUKIS - Thursday 6th March 2025
I would like to thank The Kennel Club and Crufts Committee for giving me the honour of judging Salukis at this prestigious show and thank you to all the exhibitors that entered under me and gave me some lovely hounds to judge, also my two hard working Stewards Denise Rogers and Miss Aynscough for all their hard work they didn’t have it easy as they were trialling a new system for results and unfortunately our first tablets were not working.

1. Best Pup - Dunne BOGDAN LA’IQA NAJIHA Cream smooth. What a lovely pup no hesitation in giving him best puppy very mature for his age. Elegant head, long neck smoothly into super shoulders, strong in the back with slight arch. Obviously needs to drop in brisket but that will come with age. Movement was puppyish but what I saw was light and lifting. For me if nature is kind he has a bright future
2. Strong XERXES OMAR TER DOLEN (Imp BEL) Attractive Black fringed red pup not as mature as 1 but much to like about him. Balanced head with good pigment. Well Laid shoulder, strong in loin and good width to first thigh. Moved well , time is on his side

1. Hudson MALA’S AMAL JOHARI DAYIM MAHATMA GLENOAK (Imp Deu) Wow this is some youngster. Pale cream parti. Very mature for age beautiful elegant head, long neck, super shoulder placement, good length and strength to loin. When collected movement was lifting covering plenty of ground. I could go on, but you just have to read the standard, he fits it perfectly. For me all he needs is time for maturity.

1. CC & BOS Aldous & Glaister CH JAY JP SEA BIRD EL PANJSHER Cream not a big boy but so well balanced, moderate throughout. Have judged him before and still of the same mind. A mature hound, he has an elegant head with far seeing expression and correct shaped eye. Lengthy neck let into well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm, good width to chest. Depth to brisket with correct amount of spring, slight rise over the loin, neat tuck up into strong quarters. Movement was light and lifting.

Elegant dog very well-balanced good width to chest, brisket well laid back, strong in loin and low tail set good width to 1st thigh and correct bend of stifle, well-shaped feet, moved true fore and aft in fact very little to fault. I feel he isn’t quite finished yet so even better to come.

1. Bryla RAVENSETT LA DUQUESA Two pretty little red litter sisters and much applies to both. Both very much babies but have the potential. Duquesa is finer in head but would like a stronger under jaw. Length of leather and good length of loin with slight rise. Good width to first thigh. Would prefer a little more weight on her. Movement was puppyish but saw enough to judge. Both sisters have potential and could change place anyday

Carrying more weight than her sister but unfortunately wouldn’t co-operate with her handler on the move so was not really able to access movement.
