English Setters
A thoroughly enjoyable day at one of my favourite shows, celebrating their golden anniversary. Many thanks to my stewards for keeping the ring moving. Presentation was very good throughout. I did notice a few uneven mouths and incorrect bites. Please bear this in mind when planning a breeding programme.
Minor Puppy (1)
1st Parrish and Collins’ Tawnymeade Moon Flare
Eight month orange with an outgoing disposition. Well shaped head with dark eyes and low set ears. Correct front with elbows neatly tucked in. Good rear angulation. Moving well for a baby.
Puppy (1)
1st Beasley’s Latjeata Jack's The Lad
Coming along nicely for 10 months. Pleasing in head with dark eyes and pigmentation. Good reach of neck. He has well boned straight front legs and good length to his ribs. Well angulated behind with correct set on of tail. In decent coat for his age. A little untidy on the move but this will come with age.
Junior (3)
1st Simpson’s Dalreavoch I’m On Fire
What a super youngster, a bit naughty here but his qualities shone through. Good head with good length of muzzle, defined stop and well shaped dark eyes. Strong clean neck of good length leading to tidy front with elbows well tucked in. Decent ribs for his age. He is firm over the loins and has a good bend of stifle. In good body and coat. He impressed today and should go on to do well as he matures.
2nd Danks Kemish and Littlecild’s Ravensett Just An Illusion with Alolfrana
Another good one, presented in lovely body and well off for coat. Well shaped head with clean long neck. Well bodied with plenty of depth and good length to his ribs. Plenty of rear angulation. He moved freely carrying his head well.
3rd Carrs Bournehouse Dare to Dream
Yearling (3)
1st Stronach’s Mariglen Escape to Victory
Attractive blue boy of 21 months. Pleasing type and well balanced through. Well shaped head with good reach of neck and nicely sloping shoulders. Balanced in body with short couplings. He has enough rear angulation and correct set on of tail. He moved steadily here to win this class and the next.
2nd Pearson’s Bournehouse Augustus at Yessandi
At 14 months was giving a lot away in age here. Nevertheless, a pleasing tri with plenty to like. Well shaped head with kind expression. Long clean neck. Straight, well boned front. Just edged out on movement today.
3rd Hughes’ Mariglen Here to Eternity
Novice (2)
1st Mariglen Escape to Victory
2nd Bournehouse Augustus at Yessandi
Graduate (2,1abs)
1st Ciaputa’s Ravensett Cote D'azur
Making a lovely shape when posed here but not liking the grass surface today. Well-proportioned in head with a kind eye. Straight front of good width. Well shaped feet. He has a balanced body with good length and depth of rib and firmness over his loins. Correct in top line with good tail set. He is well angulated behind with width to his second thigh. Such a pity that he would not move to show himself to full advantage.
Post Graduate (2)
1st Stewart and Quenby’s Tattersett Stolen Silver
Lovely blue with well shaped head, dark eyes and well set ears. He has a strong clean neck which blends into well constructed shoulders. Well bodied with good spring of rib and short firm couplings. Well angulated quarters with hocks nicely let down. He moved steadily and truly.
2nd Taylor’s Kanietter Kocoa
Pleasing tricolour in good coat and body. He has a good length of skull and muzzle to balance. Clean neck of good length. He has plenty of length to his ribs and well angulated quarters. He moved well. Just preferred the shoulders of the winner here.
Limit (6,1)
1st Pitts’ Wandsfell Dreamkeeper
Almost 2 years and very forward for his age. Looking so well in full coat presented to advantage. Well shaped head with kind eyes and soft expression. Low set ears. Strong neck of good length. He has well constructed shoulders and good width to his front. Well ribbed through with good width to his quarters and well turned stifles. He moved freely to win this good class and then to win the RCC.
2nd Johnston’s Wansleydale Beguiled of Loonbrae
Good honest 6 year old with plenty to like here. Well shaped head with correct stop and plenty of work round his eyes. Strong neck and well laid shoulders. He has good bone and well barrelled ribs. He moved steadily and honestly.
3rd Thomson’s Maursett Morganite for Caspellwynd
Open (4)
1st Hepburn’s Tattersett Rainbow Legacy
What a typical unexaggerated boy who I have admired before. Full of quality. Well shaped head with good length of muzzle and defined occiput. Low set ears help give the desired soft expression. He has good layback of shoulder and good width to his front. Well ribbed back with depth to his chest and firm couplings. He has a good top line and strong quarters. Moving well with wagging tail. My CC winner here. Well deserved.
2nd Stewart and Quenby’s Sh Ch Tattersett Golden Sunrise
A worthy Champion in good body and coat. Correct head proportions with dark eyes and good reach of neck. He is straight in front with neat elbows tucked well in. Well ribbed. He has good depth to his chest and is firm over the loins. Good rear angulation and well developed thighs. He looked well standing but did not have the accuracy on the move as the winner today.
3rd Simpson’s Sh Ch Dalreavoch Northern Legend
Bitches
Minor Puppy (2)
Two 8 month old sisters showing plenty of promise.
1st Vallance’s Rowanmyle of Prudent Lore
Well proportioned youngster with good length to her muzzle, kind eyes and low set ears. Good length of neck and plenty of rear angulation. Just needs to fill out. Just edged her sister on her more positive movement today. Will be interesting to see how she develops. Best Puppy.
2nd Colton’s Rowanmyle Box of Delights for Ennydloc
Showing a liking for her time in the ring! Well-proportioned head with good neck and layback of shoulder. Straight in front. She is a little shorter coupled than her sister. Needs to settle on the move to do herself full justice.
Puppy (1)
1st Beasley’s Latjeata Cup of Kindness
Promising o/b with a pleasing head which will get even better as it breaks. Dark eyes and low set ears. Good reach of neck and nicely sloping shoulders. She has good length to her ribs. Her stifles are well bent and she has a good set on of tail. Another who did not do herself justice on the move. She has a positive disposition , her tail never stopped wagging.
Junior (3,1)
1st Simpson’s Dalreavoch She’s The One
Pretty b/b who is sister to my JD winner. Not the maturity of her brother but still plenty to like. She is well boned with a straight front of good width. She has good depth and length to her ribs for her age. Well angulated quarters. Presented in good coat. She moved well here.
2nd Latjeata Cup of Kindness.
Yearling (3)
1st Hutchinson and Dennis’ Mariglen My Heart Will Go On with Monaysbridge
What a lovely youngster. Took my eye here and continued to impress in the challenge. Beautiful outline and her mischievous personality shone through. Well balanced head with soft expression and dark eyes. She has a good reach of neck and is well constructed in front on good feet. Good length of body with firm short couplings. She has well bent stifles and good width of second thigh. She moved well enough to win this class and was more settled in the challenge, where I awarded her the RCC.
2nd Corfield. Derry and Schoneville’s Balvenie Loch Maree
Attractive o/b with good head, well-shaped eyes and low set ears. Straight front of good width and carrying enough bone yet still feminine through. She has good length and depth to her chest and well-turned stifles. A little longer cast than the winner and not moving as well as I have seen her. Nevertheless, shows plenty of promise.
3rd Smettem-Minson’s Chywoon She’s So Chic
Novice (2)
1st Latjeata Cup of Kindness
2nd Chywoon She’s So Chic
Third in the previous class. What a pleasure to see a liver belton in the ring. Not an easy colour to campaign with the permitted paler eyes and pigmentation. She has a good length to her muzzle and low set ears. Her elbows are nicely tucked in. Would prefer her to carry a bit more body and settle on the uneven surface.
Post Graduate (3)
1st Paton’s Bournehouse Eternal Flame for Meadowfoot
Positive moving 2 yr old o/b Balanced head with defined stop and well placed ears. Clean neck of good length leading into well laid shoulders. Straight in front she has a well ribbed body of correct proportions. Level top line and good set on of tail. Presented in good body condition, she won this class on her free movement.
2nd Pitts’ Wandsfell Keep Me Dreaming
Attractive tricolour with well shaped head, good reach of neck and well boned front of good width. Good depth to her body and well angulated behind. She was difficult to assess on the move as not happy in the conditions.
3rd Kemp-Taylor’s Quensha's Strawberry Swing
Limit (3.1)
1st Sharples Kanietter Sabonette
Well put together and balanced through. She has a well-shaped head with dark eyes giving a kind expression. Straight in front with well boned legs and decent feet. Good depth and width to her ribs. She has strong well angulated quarters which were used to good effect on the move.
2nd Beasley’s Wansleydale Mayflower at Latjeata
One I have previously liked from the ring side. Feminine and correctly balanced in profile. She has a good head with defined stop and dark eyes. Good front construction. She has width and depth to her body and good rear angulation. However today, she lacked enthusiasm and her movement lacked animation.
Open (3)
1st Paton’s Sh Ch Bournehouse Secret Destiny for Meadowfoot
I gave this girl a quality class last time I judged the breed and still think highly of her. Now fully mature, she has a well-balanced head with good stop and plenty of work around her eyes. Clean neck of good length and well laid shoulders. Balanced in body, she has good length of rib and firm short couplings. Well-developed quarters with good width of thigh and well-turned stifles. She moved well. Close up to top honours. A worthy Champion.
2nd Loakes’ Sh Ch Goldbirch Hearts Desire
Another worthy title holder presenting a lovely outline. She has a well shaped head with kind dark eyes and well placed ears. Clean neck of good length. She has depth to her body and well angulated quarters. In full coat and good condition.
3rd Smettem-Minson’s Gordon Hall Euphoria at Chywoon
Veteran (3,1)
1st Grimsdell’s Sh Ch Tattersett Dark Honey
Hard to believe that this one is eligible for veteran. Mature and full of quality. She has a refined head with correct proportions and a kind dark eye. Strong neck of good length flows into well laid shoulders. Well bodied with both width and depth to her ribs and firm couplings giving her a correct top line and well set tail. She is strong over the quarters showing plenty of width to her second thigh and well turned stifles. Moved to advantage. She resisted keen competition to be awarded the CC and Best of Breed.
2nd Beasley’s Wansleydale Amaretto at Latjeata
This one is also defying time and looking so well for her age. Lovely honest type of tricolour with good overall balance. She is very correct in head with soft expression and defined occiput. She is balanced in body with good angulation both front and rear. In good coat. She moved well in profile showing plenty of reach and drive.
