Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

26th April 2025

I would like to thank the officers and committee of WELKS for their kind invitation to judge at this lovely show. The first outdoor show of the year, and we were blessed with ideal weather. Great to be able to judge outside, to award my first set of CC’s in Clumber Spaniels. A huge thank you to all the exhibitors for the fabulous entry both numerically and quality. Some very close choices across the classes. It was a true honour and privilege to have the pleasure of your super dogs, and the great sportsmanship around the ring

Class 881. Veteran Dog - Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1st Place 2933 - Suelynda Second Edition with Badgersmoon (Mr A G, Mr J M & Mrs J Fenwick, Thompson & Langridge)

Supper substance and bone on this 7 year old dog and very smart outline when stood. Liked his overall balance and proportions, and most endearing being a bit of a chatterbox! Strong square masculine head, and gentle expression. Muscular neck flowing into a firm topline. Well developed through the body, perhaps carrying a fraction more condition today. Liked his hindquarters, wide quarters and short hock to heel. Strode out on the move, tending to pin in a little in front. Well presented - BVD

Class 882. Minor Puppy Dog - Entries: 0 Absentees: 0

Class 883. Puppy Dog - Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st Place 2926 - Malbecmogs Tiger Eyes (Mr C & Mrs S Crittenden)

Just 12 months old, much to like on this W&O dog, but would not want his markings any darker. He is a happy and outgoing dog, who was enjoying himself. Liked his overall balance, with a masculine head, having a tight eye, good stop and width to the back skull. Good length of neck and developing nicely through the body. Still needing to tighten when moving, but he held his topline and showed good drive - BPD

2nd Place 2953 - Maursett Merwing (Mr C M & Mrs D E Vickery & Jones)

Full of beans 9 month old dog, providing his handler with a challenge. Liked the bone and substance on this boy and when stood has a pleasing outline. Masculine head, with a well developed flews and deep stop. Good length of neck and holding a firm topline. Rather erratic on the move with a tendency to pace and fly his tail today

Class 884. Junior Dog - Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st Place 2921 - Wahnahnish St Gilles (Imp Nld) (Mr M & Mrs C Benge)

This 15 month old dog has a lovely outline when stood, he flows from nose to tail, showing good substance all through and well boned limbs. He has a dignified air to him, calm but showing himself off to advantage. Masculine head, with good length and depth to the muzzle. Clean through the neck, deep in brisket and a good spring to the ribcage. Strong hammy quarters driving him around the ring, whilst holding his outline

2nd Place 2951 – Creeaark Nereus At Mollynewf (Mr D & Mrs C R Taylor)

15 month old dog, who did not make it easy for his handler today, being a bit of a livewire! He has a nice outline when stood, balanced and in proportion. Liked his head, it has a nice squareness to it and a good stop. Shows to have depth and ribbing. Pleasing hindquarters, with a good width of thigh and bend of stifle. Today losing out on his erratic movement, which meant his was losing his topline.

Class 885. Yearling Dog - Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

Repeat Junior Dog

2nd Place 2951 - Maursett Menelaus (Mr D Tilston)

21 month old dog, of a nice stamp, showing to be well proportioned and with pleasing substance and bone. Nicely proportioned head, with a clean amber eye, deep stop and gentle expression. Found him to be well developed through the body, and a good ribcage and strong hindquarters. Just not as tidy on the move as winner, tending to carry his tail a fraction higher.

Class 886. Post Graduate Dog - Entries: 5 Absentees: 1

1st Place 2923 - Suelynda Boom Bang A Bang (Mr D K & Mrs S L Boden)

Very much liked this young dog, litter brother to limit winner. He is an impressive dog with plenty of substance and bone. When stood he has lovely body proportions, a sturdy and honest dog. Well proportioned head, with strength to the muzzle, and width to the backskull. Strong muscular neck, super depth and ribbing. He holds a firm topline both stood and on the move. He moves out cleanly in all directions, but today not showing himself off with the same verve as the top winners

2nd Place 2930 - Badgersmoon It Had to Be You (Mr A G, Mr J M & Mrs J Fenwick, Thompson & Langridge)

Much to commend this smart 2 year old dog, with a pleasing outline. Thought him well put together and with good substance. Masculine square head, keen and alert to his handler. Good depth to the brisket, ribs carried well back, not quite as firm as winner in topline today. Striding out on the move

1st Place 2922 - Suelynda Let Me Be The One JW (Mrs C & Mr J Blackburn)

This young dog is coming up 2 years of age, and brought a smile to my face with his mischievous antics. Full of beans, loving life with an ever wagging tail and a naughty glint in his eye! Thought him to be a dog of unexaggerated symmetry, showing lovely balance when stood. Strong masculine head with good width to the backskull, well developed in flews, and large ears framing his face. Admirable strong neck of good length, lovely depth to the brisket and well developed in front. His good length of ribcage holding a firm topline to a well set on and used tail. Not as firm in topline today. Liked his wide strong quarters with low set hocks. On the move positive and true. Put down in super coat and condition

Just loved this quality 5 year old dog, who looked an absolute picture on the stack and demands attention. Fully mature with super substance and bone, all presenting a typical outline and shapely silhouette. There is no mistaking his gender, he is all male, with a large square head, clean amber eyes with a gentle expression. His strong muscular neck flowing into a firm and well held topline. His body is well developed with depth to the brisket and a lovely fill in of forechest. Strong, well boned limbs with large, rounded feet. Another super dog, presenting a very pleasing outline, and at only 2 years of age the best is still to come. Thought him to be harmonious in his proportions, showing good overall balance and substance. Masculine head, with a good stop and nicely squared flews and good eye giving a kind expression. Strong neck of good length flowing into a well held topline. His body shows a well sprung ribcage and strong loin. Standing on well boned limbs. Today not as tidy in his movement of winner, but showed lovely drive and put down in super coat and condition

Class 889. Veteran Bitch - Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1st Place 2959 - Sh Ch Anbrook Fair Maid of Kent by Winhampton (Mrs S A & Miss L L M Wilson)

Well put together bitch coming up 8 years of age, who cuts a lovely outline when stood. Nicely balanced head piece, with length and strength to the muzzle and width to the backskull. Strong muscular neck, her chest is well let down and with a good forechest. Her ribs are carried well back, with a strong loin. Liked her hindquarters which have a good bend of stifle, width to the thighs and low set hocks. She shows lovely free flowing action in profile with reach and drive, just a little untidy coming towards me today. First class coat presentation - BVIB

Class 891. Puppy Bitch - Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

1st Place 2948 - Maursett Mergwynn (Mrs H & Mr D N Taylor)

Lovely flowing lines on this 9 month old bitch, just needs to gain a little more confidence to show herself off to full advantage. She has balanced body proportions, giving a shapely silhouette. Such a pretty feminine head, with a tight dark eye. Strong neck flowing seamlessly into a firm and well held topline. Well let down in brisket and good development of forechest. Well boned limbs and nicely rounded feet. Moved with positive footfall and showing drive – BPB & BPIB

2nd Place 2945 - Elskerwoo Silver Lining (Mr J & Mrs C Sainsbury)

Super outgoing temperament on this 11 month old bitch, and another with a pleasing outline when stood. She has a balanced and well proportioned head, with a heavy brow and large ears framing her face. Good length of neck, and a firm topline with ribs carried well back giving length. Not as clean in front as winner, and at present a little down in the pasterns. A happy and energetic mover, with lovely side gait

Class 892. Junior Bitch - Entries: 4 Absentees: 1

1st Place 2920 - Bebecova Uniqueness (Mrs D & Mr A Barrass)

Thought that this 13 month old bitch was lovely, she has such a shapely outline and full of quality. So very feminine but with plenty of substance. Nicely balanced head piece, good width to the skull, and depth to the flews. Strong neck of good length, cleanly flowing into a firm topline. She has a super spring to the ribcage and well developed in forechest. Strong hindquarters, which she used to advantage to drive around the ring. She was in my final consideration for top awards

2nd Place 2955 - Suelynda Dream On (Mrs R Wareham)

Another youngster with appeal. Standing she presents a lovely picture of balance and femininity. Showing maturity through the body at only 14 months of age. Nicely proportioned head, heavy brows giving a thoughtful expression. Good length of neck, and a firm well held topline. Her hindquarters have a good bend of stifle. Carries herself well on the move, just not as tidy in front as winner today.

Strong neck with a good reach, holding a firm topline, with well sprung ribcage, nice bend to the stifle with the hocks squarely set to the ground. A sound mover with drive from the rear

2nd Place 2946 - Wooliebourne Nick of Time among Elskerwoo (Mr J & Mrs C Sainsbury)

O/W 3 year old bitch, a little darker marked, taking her place for her movement, which would sound and driving. She has a strong square head, but retaining her femininity, heavy brow and tight dark amber eye, gentle but keen in her expression. Not quite the bone or substance of winner, but brisket is well let down and holds a decent topline. Coming alive on the move, as she moved with enthusiasm.

Class 895. Limit Bitch - Entries: 5 Absentees: 2 - 3 cracking bitches

1st Place 2937 - Vanitonia Song and Dance JW (Miss E L & Mrs A Matthews & Moon)

What a beautiful flow to this bitch’s outline, looking a picture when stood with a clean shapely profile. She has balanced lines and harmonious in her proportions. Pleasing typical feminine head with a tight eye. Strong neck of good length, super depth to the brisket and fill in of forechest. Well sprung ribs are carried well back. Good width of thigh and well let down hocks. At one with her handler on the move to show herself off with confidence and style. Another in contention in the final challenge.

2nd Place 2960 - Vanitonia Some Like It Hot at Winhampton (Mrs S A & Miss L L M Wilson)

Litter sister to winner and very similar in stamp, with so much to admire. Feminine strength and substance, no mistaking her gender. Balanced and proportionate head, strong neck, flowing into a lovely firm topline and well set on tail. Liked her depth and spring of rib, not quite the forechest of winner. Super bone and large round feet. Using her hindquarters to advantage to drive around the ring, not quite as clean in front action as winner today. Another put down is super coat and condition

She has an appealing head, with a tight eye, length and strength to the foreface. Neck of good length, seamlessly flowing into a well held topline. Found her to be well developed all through, with depth to the body and well boned limbs. Her hindquarters have a good width to the thigh. Shown in good body condition and presented in full bloom. A powerful mover, with drive from the rear and flowing in her side gait. – Delighted to award her BCC & BOS

2nd Place 2939 - Sh Ch Tweedsmuir She's So Sheek (Mr P M & Mrs H D Monaghan)

Another cracking bitch, close up to winner, with so much to admire, and I could have easily awarded another CC. A fraction heavier set all through than winner, but this does not detract from her femininity. She has a beautiful poise when stood, displaying her typical outline and breed type. Most feminine of head, width to the backskull, a clean eye, and nicely squared flews. Strong neck, deep in brisket with a well developed forechest, holding a firm topline and ribs well sprung. Straight strongly boned forelegs and hammy wide quarters, with hocks that are well let down. Carries herself well on the move, with positive footfall. Turned out immaculately – Delighted to award her the RBCC
