Cesky Terrier

I have judged Cesky Terriers for many years, and this was my third time awarding Challenge Certificates, having judged them through Europe and the USA. I think I can say that the overall uniformity and construction is improved. What has not improved enough is the temperament. Birmingham National wasn’t the ideal environment and the Norfolk terriers caged and vocal around the ring did not help. I will address this in my Norfolk Critique. However, the Cesky should be robust despite these challenges. Please look at this. It places them at such disadvantage.

Puppy Dog. Lojza Garex (Cze Imp). Platinum male. Very raw and needs time. Of good overall size at this stage. Nice head proportions with decent length, pleasing eye and correct ear set and size. Overall proportions are correct. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Correct topline and tail set. Well muscled rear for his age. Very nervous in the hall today and needs time to grow in confidence. Difficult overall to assess movement in the class but went better in the challenge and is sound.

PG Dog Ulmo Bohemia Des Hauteurs De La Sole At Kyntilly. Nice size. Overall, a pleasing shape. Pleasing head of ideal proportions and with correct eye and good ears. Good neck length. Would prefer a fraction more length of upper arm and a little less width in front. Nice unexaggerated topline and correct slight tuck up. Good tail set and correctly carried on the move. Well-muscled up rear. Correct coat. Moved with drive.

Limit Dog Moraira Abel At Kyntilly. I thought this male of excellent type. Quality head of correct proportions and of sufficient overall length. Correct slight arch to the skull and of correct width for a Cesky. Good dark eye. Correct size of ears but for me they could be set a fraction higher to complete the picture. Decent length of neck into well placed shoulders. Nice front assembly. Of good bone with good round foot. Overall length is good as is topline. Correct tail set. Moved very well and was in A1 order. Was very happy to award him the RCC and he did in fact push the winner hard. 2. Wherrypoint Engelbert. Quality dark grey who is very nice to go over. Pleasing head and expression. Good neck and shoulder. Correct bone and feet. Good overall length to him and with good spring of rib. Well-developed hind quarters. Moved well. Preferred the topline on the first placed dog. In good condition. 3. Winoski Aemond

Open Dog 1. Ch Janski Bugurovski. New to me although a veteran at 7 years. This dog pleased very much for his overall balance. He is a nice typey male with nothing overdone. Really correct head and good eye. If I am being critical his ears could be a fraction smaller. Correct length of neck which is elegant and leads to good shoulder placement. Super front. Correct topline and tail set. Good rear. Where this male excels is his free action and in particular his very correct front action. Slightly shorter coupled than 2 but loin length is adequate. A very smart dog. Pleased to award him the CC and BOB. Nice to see him shortlisted in a good group. 2. Komidion Schubert. Grey of quality and type. Much of the attributes of 1 also apply here. Another with good head and expression. Good front and bone. Overall, a little longer cast than my preference and not quite the rib of 1. Moved well. 3. Ch Sametova Bacary

Post Graduate Bitch. 1. Winoski Rhaenyra. Platinum bitch of good size. Nice head which is of correct proportions of decent width and length and good strength of underjaw. Good neck and shoulder. Good bone. Could be a fraction straighter in the front. Well sprung with short loin. Correct tuck up. For me just falls off a fraction too much at the croup. Moved with drive.

Limit Bitch. 1. Runiks Akreepa Of Dragon. A rather smart dark grey bitch who appealed as soon as I saw her come into the ring. For me she was what I was looking for in a Cesky bitch today. Not a small bitch but within standard she exhibits the ideal silhouette. On closer examination she is rather typey with a very pleasing head piece, nice dark eye and well-set ears of good size. Good length of neck into good shoulders. Well-made front with good straight bone. Correctly shaped chest and well sprung. Desired topline with no exaggeration. In good jacket and A1 muscular condition. Moved very well. Was happy to award her first CC today and I hope that she goes on to attain her crown. 2. Placido Oriana At Bleuetopia. Platinum bitch. Nice for size and overall proportions. Correct head properties although just falls away a little too much under the eye for preference and not the ear carriage of the winner. Good topline and underline. Nice bone. Well-muscled hind quarters which are well angulated. Moved with drive but would prefer her to carry her tail lower.

Open Bitch 1. Ch Komidion Rhythm At Moraira. This is a quality specimen who pushed the CC winner hard. This bitch who rightly carries her title has many qualities to admire. I liked her size and overall length and shape. Very typical in head. Good eye. Very nice to go over with all in the right place. In excellent well-prepared jacket and good condition and handled to advantage. Movement was fluid and foot fall correct. Nice bitch. RCC. 2. Janski Storm Padfoot. Another good Cesky. Giving her handler rather a hard time today. Nicely headed bitch. Good length of neck and correctly laid shoulders. Well-made front and rear. Good hind angulation. Preferred the topline and the more togetherness on the move of 1 today. 3. Komidion Sonata For Sametova JW

Veteran Bitch 1. Ch Komidion Prima Donna Of Sametova ShCEx VW. Well known to me and another bitch of good type. Good head and probably the best ears of the entry. Good body proportions. Nice rib and short loin. Lovely rear with the correct angulation. Defies her age. For me she carries her tail to high on the move which I do generally penalise and could have a fraction more reach in the front. In super condition.
