SKC – 15th of May 2025 – CURLY COATED RETRIEVER

I would like to congratulate the hardworking committee of the Scottish Kennel Club for such an expertly run and organized show. I really enjoyed my assignment and judging the Gundog breeds in the UK is the greatest of honour for an overseas judge. It was a sheer pleasure going over many beautiful dogs and I was delighted with my winners. A big thank goes to the exhibitors for entering their lovely dogs under me and sportingly accepting my decisions. My two ring stewards did a great job during the day and kept me going.

 Attractive liver junior who is well presented, appealing wedge-shaped head, correct planes and lovely eyes, excellent slightly arched neck, good forehand construction, nice bone and correct well-ached feet. Good substance for age and strong topline, nice rear angulation, moved freely, correct crispy curls and good quality

 Nice upstanding male with an attractive head correct expression and lovely eyes, good neck and front, balanced angulations, very good bone and correct feet, well sprung ribs and deep through the heart, good topline and tail, good bend of stifle, moves well, correct coat quality

2ND Dick´s Firecurl Excalibur

 Liver male in good condition, masculine head that could be slightly better balanced, beautiful eyes, elegant neck, adequate front angulation, nice bone and feet, excellent body, strong topline and good tail, nice rear, moves well, nice coat quality

 Top quality presenting an attractive outline. Masculine wedge-shaped head with correct muzzle/skull ratio. Oval shaped eyes and nice expression, well set smallish ears. Elegant strong and slightly arched neck, excellent front assembly, correct bone and well-arched feet, correct ribcage and deep chest, short back, good topline and tail, exceptionally sound behind, moved seemingly without effort, perfect crispy curls, teeming with quality and has all the essential breed points, handled to perfection, I was pleased to award him the CC BOB

2ND Clack´s- Bazzy Inti Anka at Molokain (Imp Cze)

 Upstanding liver male with an attractive outline, pleasing head in good balance, lovely eyes and expression, correct neck blending smoothly into the withers, sound forehand construction, nice bone and correct round and tight feet, deep chest and well sprung ribs, sound topline and tail, short back, plenty of heartroom, good bend of stifle, nice crispy curls, covering plenty of ground, presented to advantage, R-CC

 Nice veteran who is a credit to his owner, masculine head, good ears and lovely oval eyes, strong neck, good front assembly, good timber, slight weak in pastern but nice feet, perfect substance and well sprung ribs, strong topline , well angulated rear, moves with drive, nice coat quality, well presented

 Well-handled male who looks rather young and time is his best friend, pleasing head and expression, neat ears, correct eyes, very good neck, adequate front angulation and still a bit narrow in front, nice bone and correct feet, nice body and strong topline, good rear, moved out really well, coat is OK but not perfect today.  Most appealing and attractive female with many good points, beautiful head and expression, lovely oval eyes, neat ears, lovely arched neck, very sound forehand construction, well off for bone, correct round and tight feet, well sprung ribs, deep chest, perfect topline, sadly she carries her tail rather high which spoils the overall balance on the move, excellent rear with good second thigh, short hocks, moves well, correct crispy curls and well handled

 Liver shown to advantage, nice feminine head with good balance, nice expression and oval eyes, excellent neck, balanced angulations, nice bone and feet, well sprung ribs, good topline, strong rear, could move with more drive, coat quality ok but not perfect today,

 Smallish liver bitch who is well handled but could do with an extra inch of leg, attractive correct head, lovely expression and eyes, very good neck and front construction, nice bone and feet, good body for size, strong topline, very sound behind, effortless mover, sadly not in the best of coats

 Charismatic bitch teeming with quality and handled to perfection, most gorgeous expression, wedge-shaped head, correct oval eyes, smallish ears, clean well arched neck, spot on front assembly, textbook angulations, the best o legs and feet, deep chest and well sprung ribs, perfect topline and tail, good depth of body and excellent ribs, as her construction suggested she moved out with reach and drive, most correct crispy curls, looked a picture standing and moving, delighted to award her the CC BOS

 Very typey bitch of high quality, wedge-shaped head and lovely oval eyes, plenty of neck and good shoulders, excellent bone, correct well-arched feet, good spring of ribs and deep through the heart, very strong topline, tailset is a bit low, very sound behind, excellent mover, beautiful crispy curls, presented to advantage R-CC
