Many thanks to the committee of The Welsh Kennel Club for inviting me to judge. My excellent ring stewards kept the ring flowing well to allow the next show to use the ring in a timely manner.

I was pleased to hear that the breed will be moving next month from Category 3 to 2. A long time coming and achieved with considerable effort by many.

9.5 year old sable. Substantial and well balanced in proportions and angles. Kind expression. Could have slightly cleaner tail set. Moved a little close away, but very good sidegait covering the ground very well. A very balanced male, shown in excellent condition.

9 year old substantial black and gold male of balanced proportions. Well laid back shoulder with good length of upper arm, which could be better angled. Moved well in sidegait. Also excellent condition.

6 month old well pigmented sable. Lovely head and expression. Compact body proportions with slight rise over back at times in stance. Good angles front and rear. Needs to broaden in body and showed some puppy looseness, both of which will develop I am sure. Long tail with hook.

9 months old medium sized black and gold male with good angles front and rear. Slightly short but well laid croup. Moved correct away and towards. Good sidegait, but has a tendency to fly his tail, which worsened in the challenge for BPD

2nd: HUGHES, Miss Jackie Sadira Albert

10 months old tall male. Very deeply pigmented black and gold. Well laid shoulder with long upper arm which could be better angled. Moved out well with far reaching gait.

16 months tall black and gold male of very good body proportions and angles. Croup was rather short and tail set quite high. Moved correct away and towards. Would have liked more extension on the move, backline tended to flatten.

19 months old tall black and gold male which must not deepen. Slightly stretched proportions. Well laid shoulder with steep upper arm. Moved correct away and toes in towards. Moved well around the ring with a good sidegait covering the ground well and retaining his outline.

2 year old sable male who really took my eye. Medium sized with lovely head and expression and remarkable buoyant temperament. Very good body proportions. Well angled front and rear assembly. Just moved a tad close away and correct towards. Good far reaching gait around the ring.

2nd: APPS, Mr James & TUCKER, Miss Sandra Felsental Franko

2 years old tall, very dark black and gold male with very good overline and good ring presence. Kind and lively expression. Stretched proportions. Good lay of shoulder with long upper arm which should be better angled. Croup rather short and steep with higher tail set. Wave over croup. Carrying a little bit of weight.

5 years old paler black and gold male carrying a little extra weight. Good body proportions, if a little deep in chest. I would have preferred him to have firmer pasterns and tighter feet. Short steep croup with wavy hair and high set tail. Moved correct away and towards with good sidegait.

2 year old deeply pigmented black and gold male. Very large and strong dog with stretched proportions. Very strong masculine head. Would prefer tighter lips. I would prefer a darker eye to complete the picture. Shown in very good condition. Very correct angles front and rear. Moved slightly close away and correct towards. Was not able to move out in a ring of this size but showed a good sidegait retaining his topline.

2nd: TALBOT, Mrs Theresa & TALBOT, Miss Georgia Wakematts Luco

2 year old black and gold large male with very good pigment. Lovely masculine head and alert expression. Good lay of shoulder and long upper arm which should be better angled. Well laid croup, yet a rather high tail set. Displayed a good sidegait despite the ring size.

1st: WINFROW, Mrs L & WINFROW, Mr Andrew Ch Sadira's Xorrow DOG CC

2 year old upper medium sized back and rich gold male. Masculine head with alert yet calm expression. For me, he could have firmer lips. Long and muscular neck of good length leading to a very well laid shoulder and well angled long upper arm, with matching correct rear angles. Flawless backline leading to a beautifully well laid and long croup. Correct bone for size. Very well proportioned body in length and height. Shown in very good coat and condition. Moved slightly close away and correct towards. Showed a floating far reaching sidegait retaining his topline. For me he is so very well balanced both in stance and on the move. He was expertly handled.

Such a correct and beautiful male, I was pleased to award him the Dog CC

2 year old medium sized paler black with bright gold male, with super lively outlook. Lovely head and expression. Another very correct dog showing correct angles front and rear, correct backline leading to a slightly flat croup. On occasion, had a tendency to stand a little close at elbows with feet out at front. Moved correct away and towards with lovely floating sidegait moving effortlessly and retaining his backline. Very well presented. I was pleased to award him the Reserve Dog CC

2 years old longcoat, paler black and gold female. Medium sized with correct bone. Pretty, feminine head with sweet expression and dark eye. Good proportions, and angles. Moved slightly close away and correct towards. Moved out okay in sidegait, although would benefit from further ring training. Flattened a little on the wither.

2nd: USHERWOOD, Miss Benita Return Shamrock Of Blanik

2.5 years old black and gold longcoat female. Good head with sweet reserved expression. Tall with stretched body proportions and matching angles front and rear. Needs to move out more in sidegait and tends to flatten on the wither. Another whom I believe would benefit from further ring training.

Wow what can I say. I was so surprised that this girl was nearly 12 years old as at no point in her exhibition did her age show.

Nearly 12 years old black and gold female with paler tan. Top sized and shown in very good condition. Lovely head and alert expression. Good body proportions. Well laid shoulder with long upper arm which could be better angled. Firm back leading to slightly steep croup. Correct away and towards, showing a spirited drive in her reaching sidegait. A pleasure to see.

6.5 months old sable female of rich colour. Pretty, correctly proportioned head. Good medium size with lovely proportionate bone and good feet. Very good body proportions and good angles front and rear. Firm backline leading to a slightly steep croup. Very good musculature. Moved correct away and towards with very good sidegait.

11 months old black and gold female with dark black and paler gold colouring. Medium sized and boned. Very feminine head and expression with lovely dark eyes. Well laid shoulder but upper arm could be better angled. Correct backline leading to short and rather flat croup with high tail set. Moved correct away and towards. Moved around the ring with purpose showing a very good sidegait.

Class 1627 JB (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: SWIFT, Ms A & DODDS, Mr Neil Monksley Questa Bitch CC

17 months old black and gold female of upper medium size. Very attractive and feminine bitch with proud outlook. She oozed balance and showmanship as she stood and moved in the ring. Super coat and condition. Very correct body proportions and good angles front and rear. Well angled and long croup. Moved correct away and towards and excelled on the move around the ring showing far reaching effortless and fleeting sidegait retaining her backline.

This girl really filled my eye and I had great pleasure in awarding her a first CC: (with her second to follow a short time later at NWAC Breed club show.) I later discovered that I had awarded her Sire his second CC the last time that I judged.

2nd: KEMBLE, Miss A & PASCOE, Mr Ben Shernaa Jemstone Vom Falkenholz

13 months old black and gold female shown a little out of coat. Very correct medium size with good bone and correct body proportions. Backline did tend to peak in stance at times. Well laid shoulder with long upper arm which could be better angled. Moved correct away and towards with a very good sidegait.

1st: ELLIOTT, Mrs Chloe Sadira's Yokko For Ellroost

22 months old very rich black and gold with very dark saddle. So attractive with a feminine well proportioned head. Good medium size with correct bone. Very well proportioned body with very good angles front and rear. Correct backline leading to slightly flat croup. Moved correct away and towards. Excelled on the move around the ring showing a very good reach in her sidegait.

2nd: DAVIES, Mr Owen J Wilczyjar Candy

20 months old paler black and gold tall longcoat female. Showed good body proportions. Back tended to slope away after midpoint to a high tail set. Would prefer more width in chest and throughout. Good angles front and rear. Backline flattened a little on the move, but had good energy in her movement.

2 years old black and gold strong female. Colour breaking on her saddle. I loved her overall correctness and absolute balance throughout. Nothing overdone. Very correct proportions. Good angles front and rear with strong, smooth backline leading to a long well laid croup. Moved slightly close away and correct towards. Performed well, moving out energetically in her sidegait retaining her outline.

2nd: HALL, Miss S & HALL, Mr David & HALL, Mrs Joan Zaskia Vom Gayville

2.5 years old black and gold female of rich colour. Medium sized with good bone. Beautifully shaped head, with good pigment. Sweet, reserved expression with beautiful dark eyes. Backline tended to peak when in stance, leading to long but slightly steep croup with tail set a tad high. Well laid back shoulder and good length of upper arm, which could be better angled. Very good hind angulation. On the move, she showed an excellent floating far reaching gait, with correct backline. However she lacked a little enthusiasm.

3 years old paler black and gold female of medium size and bone. Well ribbed. Good body proportions. Showed a well laid back shoulder but upper arm could be better angled. Good rear angles. Short croup with high tail set, but with good flow from topline. Moved correct away and towards. Showed a very good far reaching sidegait.

2nd: STANLEY, Mrs Rhian Blanik Liszka

4.5 years old black and gold female shown in slightly heavy condition. Tall girl with very good front and rear angles Slightly stretched proportions with good length and lay of croup. Feet seemed a little flat. Moved correct away and towards. Showed good forward reach in sidegait however did flatten in the backline.

4 years old sable female of correct middle size, slightly longer in proportions than 1. Lovely head with good dark eyes. Another with good ribbing. Good shoulder and rear angles. Hard backline to a slightly short croup and rather high tail set. Moved correct away and towards, with good sidegait retaining outline.
