The Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show 14th to 17th of August 2025 First of all I want to thank the committee of the Welsh Kennel Club for inviting me to judge several breeds at their wonderful championship show but also for giving me the honour of judging 4 groups of veterans and puppies in the main ring. It was fantastic to have the chance to go over so many high quality and beautiful dogs, which I enjoyed immensely. Terrier Puppy Group 1st 1652 Satherley & Bye’s Silkcraft Just Like Magic - Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. A beautiful eye catching medium sized compact puppy. So balanced in structure and in her movement going around the main ring. She looked delightful, full of character, with a soft wheaten coloured coat. For me she ticked all the boxes and I foresee a wonderful show career for her. Happy that I could give her top spot in this wonderful puppy terrier group. 2nd 1817 Burn’s Burneze Maid To Measure - West Highland Terrier. What a beautiful appearance she is. A strongly built courageous puppy. Her head so typical for the breed, with dark eyes and small, erect carried firmly ears. She moved actively, free with excellent drive from behind, her tail carried jauntily throughout the main ring. What a joy to look at. Well-deserved 2nd place in this wonderful group of puppies. 3rd 1400 Tate & Nagrecha’s Chandlimore Rainbow Over Jaeva - Jack Russell Terrier. I judged this lovely puppy during the day in the breed ring and I was so impressed by her great character and smart movement and she did not disappoint me in the main ring. Still as lively and active as in the morning she moved fearlessly. Showing off her beautiful head with strong muzzle, well developed cheeks for her age. Defined stop and keen expression. Her balanced angulations provide her with a strong and free striding gait, which you want in this lovely breed. Excellent coat structure, correct size and proportions. A lovely 3rd place. Congratulations and I see a bright future for her. 4th 1078 Golby & Pinkerton’s Bareve Relight My Fire At Shadymoore - Australian terrier. Already a sturdy looking dog with a great appearance. He showed himself alert and very sound. A friendly dog to go over with a lovely head and keen expression. He held his topline on the move with good drive from behind with a free and springy movement. He had a beautiful harsh straight topcoat. He caught my eye in the main ring and I think many others too because of his lovely presence. A well deserved 4th place in this large group of wonderful puppies.
Hound Veteran Group 14th August 2025-09-2025 The Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show 1st 97 Allchorne’s Ch Nelgas Thyme Bomb JW ShCex - Basset Hound I fell in love with this dog from the moment he came into the ring. Veteran dogs can be special but he stood out a mile. A beautiful 91⁄2-year-old Basset Hound with the correct substance and so much quality. He did not disappoint on the move, on the contrary, he moved in such a balanced and sound way. Fit for purpose with effortless movement. A joy to see. No exaggeration in head and body. He gave me a calm look, with supple and fine ears. Excellent deep body, firm topline and excellent tail carriage. There was no doubt in giving him a well deserved first place in this wonderful group of hound veterans. 2nd 702 Briant & Ellwood’s Sufayre Larsson – Hamiltonstövare A well-deserved second place was for a lovely breed, which is overlooked too many times in the group but not this one. Such a well proportioned dog with great strength and stamina. Beautifully handled which gave him the opportunity to show his free striding and long reaching movement. Not close behind in anyway which you can sometimes see in this breed. A handsome upstanding dog, masculine head, strong muzzle, good stop, clear eyes and calm expression. Long and powerful in neck and back, deep in chest, excellent bone. A lovely coat condition with a beautiful colour and correct markings. A beautiful veteran! 3rd 25 Hannigan & Marloret’s Ch Brigitte Bardot Gandamak For Zobear – Afghan Hound Now this was also a special one. Such a lovely bitch, so together with her young handler who showed her to the best of her abilities. On the move she held her head proudly and showed speed and power in the correct way. Beautiful long skull, balanced with her long foreface. Very feminine but strong. Long neck; level back, enough forechest and correct hipbones. Beautiful long and very fine coat texture. An absolute joy to watch her in the main ring. A well deserved 3rd place. 4th 153 Thornton & Leech’s Ch Mochras Mahcushla Jr J Ch - Basset Fauve De Bretagne Another lovely bitch that definitely deserved a placing from my wonderful selected 8 in this veteran hound group. She stood her ground in this big group and showed her socks off. She just made me smile going over her. A courageous rough coated little hound, feminine, well balanced and such a correct mover, quick with good drive provided by strong hindquarters, in balance with correct forequarters. Lovely head with a lively expression, dark eye and correct ear set. Excellent harsh coat and colour. Well done for making it in the top 4!
Pastoral Group puppy The Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show 16th August 2025 1st 3063 Morley & Brazier’s Dizzy Marble Grand Price – Australian Shepherd Super puppy dog that was so balanced and full of type. Already has a great stamina throughout the main ring. He moved with good speed with such an ease for a young dog. Lovely masculine head in proportion with his body. Expressive almond shaped eyes. Wonderful neck and level topline. He had a lovely coat of correct texture and colour, rich and clear. I was just mesmerized by his appearance and I could not take my eyes off him. Beautifully handled, a well-deserved first place in the wonderful puppy pastoral group. 2nd 3118 Peirson’s Klitondale Miley Cyrus – Bearded Collie Now she was a fantastic runner up in this group. My heart skipped a beat when I saw her. She was so steady standing and on the move with her beautiful coat which enhanced her shape to full extent. A supple and long reaching stride, balanced with a nice head carriage. Very correct in head proportions, strong muzzle, plenty of brain room but still very feminine. Soft and affectionate expression, which I loved, a strong level back and well sprung ribs for her age. Excellent tailset and carried low. She was lovely to go over and I was happy to give her a second place in this strong puppy group. 3rd 3686 Linney’s Aescwine Cuz Everyone Talks – Swedish Vallhund What an eye catcher she was! A small but powerful and sturdy looking dog on and off the table. Full of life, energetic on the move, watchful and alert. She had a lovely temperament and I could not stop smiling when I saw her move with her head held high with a keen expression and pricked ears, such a beauty! Correct in head, level back, strong loins, well-angulated and balanced in fore and hindquarters providing for free and active movement. A lovely bitch with great potential in the future. 4th 3592 King & Jenning’s Original Beauty Lady Orleansnow (Imp Cze) – Samoyed A beautiful bitch with the most striking appearance. It was of course her smiling expression, which made me melt but also her beautiful balance and gracefulness, which I loved. Lovely head proportions, super front and bone, excellent feet. Well developed for her age and what a beauty of a tail and carriage. Strong movement with drive, power and elegance. Everything that you can hope for in a Samoyed. I could have easily taken her home with me. I foresee a bright future. Placed 4 in this strong puppy group, well done!
Working group veteran The Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show 16th August 2025 1st 4280 Williams’ Proud Of Being Ava Gardner At Evrussky Imp – Russian Black Terrier Such a stunning bitch full of type and character. Very well proportioned, a sturdy and robust frame. Strongly built with correct bone, imposing but still very feminine. Very pleasing to the eye.
