I was pleased and honoured to judge Rottweiler at the National Working & Pastoral Breeds Show 2025. My thanks to the Officers & Committee for my invitation.

Thanks also go to all the exhibitors for their support in entering and showing on such a hot uncomfortable day. I was impressed how the dogs and handlers coped.


Class 626 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1620 EYRE’s Chantavorys Captain Morgan a well-grown 9-month-old young male who has pleasing bone and body. Smart in side profile being well enough balanced in angulations front and rear and well-proportioned in body. Attractive head, eyes and expression, strong neck, well developed in body. Generally, pleasing in make and shape having a decent foundation for onward development. Tended to be loose hocked and slack in pasterns on the move.


Class 628 YD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1607 DUNHILL-HALL  & CLITHEROE’s, Mr J Ch Fantasa Lucky Luciano a quality powerful looking 20-month-old male of imposing appearance. He presents a very satisfying profile being all in proportion and balance. Handsome head with a confident assured expression. Pleasing dark eyes and ears of ideal shape and size. Balanced in angulations front and rear with notable body proportions length/height. Fit and firm in substance with desirable muscle definition. He has the look of strength and power being excellent in conformation and having a profile so satisfying to the eye. He moved with steady, true extension in front and good width powerful drive behind. My Dog CC and Best of Breed winner. Later pleased to see him awarded Working Group 3.

2nd: 1626 WARD’s Hanbar Idris At Warrimead a shapely 22-month-old male not having the size and stature of 1st. He is of moderate size with pleasing body substance and a strong look. Pleasing in head which is of good shape and proportions, set on strong neck all in proportion to the rest of him. He has good width in front and is firm over his moderately angled shoulder. Pleasing ribbing and nicely let down hindquarters. Tended to be over stretched when standing. Moved with forward purpose but needing to steady in front.


Class 629 PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1600 COURTNEY-BAUGHAN’s Jhava Black Magic Over Whisperdown a 2-year-old a shapely male of powerful build. Breed typical having good proportions and balance of angulations front and rear with firm muscle definition. Preferred his better proportions and length in side profile to 2nd. Sturdy in front and forequarters with good width across the chest. Full-bodied having spring and pleasing depth. Attractive head and expression with dark eye and correct ears. Free moving with true enough front action and good width rear drive. 

2nd: 1628 WILKINSON’s Rottkinson Dark Knight a 22-month-old very attractive male who has pleasing overall length of body and has moderate angulation front and rear. Tended to be unsettled and lose shape on the move.  He has an attractive head of pleasing profile and proportions; confident expression. Firm and robust in body with moderate angulations front and rear.


Class 630 LD (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1587 AUSTEN’s Ausrie's Jabba The Hut a 23-month-old sturdy male who has a particularly pleasing head which I preferred to others in this class. He has a particularly good  length strong neck and powerful forequarters and is well boned with firm substance of body. Satisfying in overall proportions of body and balance of angulation front & rear. Pleasing fill-in and width across the chest, adequate depth, spring and length of ribbing. Notable width across the thigh and strength of hindquarters. Free and positive movement with good front action and the better rear action of the class.

2nd: 1611 GEE’s Upend Ellison At Kassmax a well-made and proportioned, powerfully made 2½-year-old youthful male. Although not of the stature of 1st he has an attractive overall outline and pleasing proportions of body. He is of the construction and shape that conveys power and strength. Tended to be overstretched; needs to be stood naturally to present his best appearance. Attractive in head shape and expression. Sturdy body; a bit high in tail set. Needs to be better settled and more controlled on the move.

3rd: 1583 ABELL’s Nageem Cukier


Class 631 OD (8 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 1610 FOLEY & FOLEY & MORKUTE’s  Leon Is Rojaus Slenio an agile 3 year old male who has the look of muscular power. Strong and imposing in appearance possessing a particularly handsome head with robust body and pleasing profile shape. True well boned front with pleasing fore-chest and width across the chest. Firm, well-constructed body with desirable spring of rib and depth of chest. Strong, moderate length and angulations in hindquarters with parallel vertical hocks and proportional width behind. Moved out energetically and soundly with a true purposeful action in front and drive behind. My Reserve Dog CC winner.

2nd: 1618 GREENER & GREENER’s Rhodilea Celtic Warrior a nearly 4-year-old medium size, burly male who is well made and possesses pleasing breed and conformation qualities. Needs to settle when standing to give of his best. Attractive head set on a strong, good length neck. Well-made in front and forequarters with pleasing muscle definition all through. He stands well over the ground when settled and carries his head well both standing and on the move. Needs to stand firm in show stance and move with better accuracy to give him that extra edge.

Class 634 MPB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1605 DUNHILL-HALL’s Fantasa Strike While It's Hot a smart 6-month-old well grown young bitch who has desirable bone and body. Excellent in side profile being balanced in angulations and well-proportioned in body. Attractive quality bitch puppy head, eyes and expression, strong neck, firm and the basic powerful look in body. Generally, sound in construction having a desirable foundation structure for future development and onward maturity. Free and confident on the move but moved in typical unsettled action of a young puppy.


Class 635 PB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1588 AUSTEN Ausrie's Beautif’s ul Crazy a quality 11-month-old youngster who has all the desirable development of bone and body that is so necessary in a puppy. She has pleasing substance and is in proportion of length/height with balance of angulations front/rear. Attractive head of good shape and size set on a strong good length neck. She is well constructed with firm body cover and clean lines all through. Pleasing fore-chest and proportional width across the chest. She moves with purpose and more control than the other puppies here today Best Bitch Puppy and Best Puppy in Breed.


Class 636 JB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1590 BAILLIE & TOPPING’s Rottsworth My Girl Von Stairvale a 13-month-old a very attractive, agile, feminine youngster. She has an attractive head shape with pleasing eyes, ears and expression and quality breed features. Strong in neck with powerful forequarters and firm body substance in. She is all in proportion height to length plus she has balance in angulations front and rear. A well-constructed good ‘honest’ bitch who presents a very pleasing picture, stands firm over the ground with an eye-catching presence. Better mover of the class.                                                                                                                                           2nd: 1615 HOPGOOD’s Saintlythans Cleopatra litter sister to winner and shares many of her qualities and merits and so same comments apply. Similar in outline and in size and stature. Another with an attractive head and expression. Notably well-made in front and forequarters. Not as precise in footfall on the move as 1st

Class 637 YB (6 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: 1616 WILLIAMS & JONES & MONK’s Westfalen Olearia Best Team With Kiarataz JW a 20-month-old moderate, well-constructed good honest bitch. Lovely head and expression. Strong in neck and firm powerful body with strong stable nicely angled hindquarters. Pleasing in length and overall proportions. She has nothing in exaggeration with all her parts fitting together so well. Good to go over; she has a bright future. Free and steady, precise action on the move which was the better of the class.

2nd: 1622 STEEL’s  Upend Fizzical a well-grown 18-month-old who is shapely in outline and slightly taller than 1st. She has a very attractive head and expression which I preferred to 3rd. True front, sturdy body and firm nicely angled hindquarters. She presents a very satisfying breed typical picture. Confident mover with pleasing front action but a little loose hocked behind.

3rd: 1625 TOPHAM & MALTAS & MALTAS’ Virlees Infatuation


Class 638 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1601 COURTNEY-BAUGHAN’s Jezeve Deja Vu Avec Whisperdown a quality 2-year-old shapely bitch who for me has an eye-catching profile being in ideal proportion, balance and having a breed typical appearance. Well-made in front, fore-chest and forequarters which I preferred to 2nd. Stands well over the ground highlighting her shape proportions and balance of angles. Attractive head set on a strong neck flowing to a sturdy body which has necessary spring, depth and is ribbed well back. Strong sound hindquarters. Moved with a free purposeful action.

2nd: 1592 BORNE’s Starrosa Dance With Me At Trevearl a nearly 3-year-old substantial bitch who is heavier all-through than 1st. Pleasing head and expression set on a powerful neck. True in front but tended to appear more upright than 1st. Pleasing width across the chest although would prefer more obvious fore-chest. Free and active on the move but needs to settle especially in rear action.


Class 639 LB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1619 EYRE & MOSS’ Chantavory's Je Vous Amie a strong and powerful looking 2½ year old bitch who is well boned, well bodied and has substance. She possesses feminine breed qualities, is breed typical and attractive in head and expression. True in front, with pleasing fore-chest and is of ideal width. Robust and firm in body with notable substance giving the impression of power and strength. Pleasing balance of angulations front and rear. True and free movement and was the better mover of this class.

2nd: 1613 HISLOP’s Olearia Queen Of Clubs a smart 2¾-year-old attractive bitch who has a mature look with firm substance and a powerful appearance but maintaining her feminine elegance. Well developed in body having a broad deep chest with pleasing depth, spring being ribbed well back with a firm top line. Attractive in head both in make and shape, Assured in expression. She stands “four square” over the ground and in profile shows her correct proportions and balance. Free enthusiastic mover although needing to settle in action.

3rd: 1629 WILLIS-IMPEY’s Abacab's Duchess


Class 640 OB (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1602 DUNHILL-HALL’s Ch Fantasa Lucky Seven an exciting 3¾-year-old impressive bitch who presents a sound, mature appearance. Lovely head which is both breed typical and satisfyingly feminine. She is of super profile shape with excellent overall conformation and is so pleasing to go over. She is well-made all through with a powerful compact appearance but with an obvious feminine quality. She moved with a free, easy, sound action. My Bitch CC winner.

2nd: 1596 CARTWRIGHT & CARTWRIGHT’s Ch Steigen Silky Nutmeg Ganash a quality 2½-year-old bitch who has satisfying proportions and compact make and overall shape. Pleasing profile which gives the impression of power and strength. She has firm substance all through with firm top line and corresponding under line. Well-constructed in front and forequarters possessing fore chest. Pleasing width across the chest and muscle definition all through with firm body cover. Moved out well with true front and driving rear action but not as precise as 1st. A close-up Reserve CC winner.

3rd: 1595 BROADBANK’s Nyandor Never Say Never ShCEx

1st: 1594 BROADBANK’s Bevanray Shirley At Nyandor ShCEx VW a well-bodied 8-year-old mature bitch of good size and shape. Sturdy in appearance with strong forequarters and substance of body. Pleasing spring, depth and strength in hindquarters. She is all in proportion and balance both in overall body length/height and angulation front and rear. She is in commendable condition and able to compete with the best. An eager free, sound mover.
