I really enjoyed judging this active, workmanlike breed. Thanks to all exhibitors for their entries and support and the sporting way in which my decisions were received. I was especially satisfied with all my winners and very content at both the dog and bitch challenge line-ups.

1ST    3210 - Malandex Xtremely Brown (Mrs K & Ms J Hodgson & Mccourt) a 10-year-old mature, well coated, brown male in pleasing coat and condition. Attractive, masculine head set well onto a good length neck flowing into a satisfying length in body with a firm level top line. Pleasing angulation front and rear. Free moving with pleasing side gait showing extension in front.

 2ND    3237 - Arranbrae Laird of Quothquan JW (Mr R & Mrs M Robertson) CM a 9-year-old who presents a very attractive side profile shape and is of pleasing size and in good coat. Pleasing head and expression, true enough front, well-made body with spring and being ribbed well-enough back, balanced angulations front and rear. Would prefer more energy on the move.

1ST    3215 - Potterdale Prime Legacy (Mr M & Mrs J Lewis) a quality 9-month-old slate/grey youngster who is well grown and has pleasing bone and body development. Smart in appearance with a very attractive head, eyes, pigment and expression, True in front, well developed body with good top line. He has the necessary foundation structure to guarantee a very promising future. Lively on the move, true and positive when settled.

1ST    3196 - Full of The Dickens Winner Takes It All for Kingswud (Imp Deu) JW (Mrs S Collins) an 18-month-old top quality slate/grey male who presents a well-proportioned, well-balanced appearance. A masculine, breed typical head with an attentive, keen expression. Head set correctly on a good length, strong neck. True front with satisfactory lay-back of shoulder, pleasing fore-chest, spring and length of ribbing with good depth. Firm level topline and strong short loin. Steady true movement with reach and covering the ground. My Reserve Dog CC winner.

2ND    3222 - Monarkshyre Autumnal Guild (Mrs Ng & Mr Mark Mogford) a 13-month predominantly black well developed young male of pleasing appearance who has good proportions length to height. Attractive head and expression with strong good length neck set well into nicely laid-back shoulders. Pleasing body covered with a profuse tousled double coat. 1ST    3175 - Bramblemead Bollinger Boy JW (Mrs K & Mr R & Miss J Axford) a 2½-year-old well-coated slate grey male who has a very attractive head and overall appearance. True front although elbows could be tighter. Pleasing spring and length of ribbing with a firm level top-line and stable, good width, angled hindquarters. Free and eager mover although tail carriage detracted from his appearance in side gait.

1ST    3193 - Burnhock Perfect Diamond of Woodacre (Mesdames S & J Carter & Palmer) a nearly 6-year-old quality well-coated brown male who has a particularly attractive head and expression. Tended to be a bit unsettled. True, well-boned front, firm body and moderately angled hindquarters with pleasing low hocks. Attractive side profile, firm level top-line. True positive ground covering movement. 

 2ND    3248 - Blumaci U Son of The King at Corimist (Imconditionedp Fra) (Miss N & Ms J Whelan & Young) a very attractive 2½-year-old dark slate, profuse coated, commendably conditioned male. Stands well over the ground with ideal head carriage. Well-made all through presenting a profile outline that is so satisfying and shows off his correct proportions and balance. He is obviously masculine, Free and easy movement but not as settled or as precise in front as 1st.

1ST    3212 - Ch Farmarens Drums of Spring at Talraz (Imp Swe) JW (Mr M J, Mrs E A & Miss L Jay) a super quality, mature 6¾-year-old dark slate male of impressive size, proportions and shape. Handsome breed typical head with dark eyes and correct set and shape of ears. One that fills the eye having excellent conformation in front with necessary forechest and ideal spring and length of ribbing. Strong back, loin and firm top-line. He has sound, effortless reaching movement. Standing and moving he was a worthy representative of the breed in the Group ring today. My Dog CC and Best of Breed winner.                                                                                                2ND    3230 - Ch Saint Laurent De Chester at Caldermist (Imp Fra) JW (Mrs A Pedder) another mature, well-coated male who at 4½-years looks to be in his prime. Overall, he is a handsome male being well presented and in commendable condition, well-groomed with a breed typical coat. Handsome head, eyes and expression, well-made in forequarters, forechest, body and hindquarters being all-together of satisfying proportions with balance of angulations front and rear. Moved with an easy free action but not as controlled or precise in front action as 1st.

Attractive in head and expression. Well-made in front, body and hindquarters and of satisfying overall shape. Tended to be unruly on the move.

In commendable coat and condition. Attractive breed typical, feminine head set well onto a strong, moderate length neck flowing into pleasing laid-back shoulders. Well-made, firm body with a good length of back and a firm level top line. Pleasing free action, better mover of this class. Best Veteran in Breed                                         2ND    3185 - Ch Subessen Blaze of Fire VW (Mrs S & Miss C Bowden) an impressive 11-year-old mature d/slate bitch of pleasing size and profile shape. In excellent coat and condition. Attractive head and ‘laid back’ expression. Notably good in front and forequarters, Pleasing body and hindquarters. 1ST    3243 - Breaksea Pretty Woman (Mrs E A Stockwell) a well grown 6-month-old young bitch who has quality in construction and is shapely in appearance. Pleasing bone and body. Attractive head both in shape and proportions and presents a very appealing expression. She has desirable development in bone and body and although moved in a typical unsettled puppy style she undoubtedly has a very promising future.

1ST    3216 - Potterdale Prime Rose (Mr M, Mrs J & Mrs D Lewis & Moreland) an impressive dark slate/white 9-month-old well grown youngster who is litter sister to my Puppy Dog winner. She is soundly constructed all through and was the best mover of the puppies today. Ideal bone and body for her age, of sound construction in front, well developed in body with excellent ribbing and nicely angled hindquarters having parallel hocks. Very breed typical and confident especially when moving with a controlled, true action. Best Puppy in Breed.                                                                                               2ND    3242 - Gwalltafwyn Gwenllian (Mrs D Steer-Eldridge) a very promising 10-month-old dark slate young bitch who has all the basics in conformation combined with breed qualities and promise to develop into a quality adult. Needs to gain in confidence and settle especially in movement to give of her best.

1ST    3231 - Kiltondale Miley Cyrus (Mr G & Mrs L Peirson) an impressive 16-month-old slate grey quality bitch who fulfilled my expectations as I went over her. In appearance she is balanced, in proportion and breed typical. For me she is of super length to height proportions and of ideal size. Beautiful head both in shape and size with pleasing dark eyes, good ears and an alert, assured expression. Soundly made from head to tail with the movement to complement her conformation My Bitch CC winner.                                                                        2ND    3223 - Tumbledale Snowdrift (Miss H C Nuttall) an attractive feminine 13-month-old smart dark slate young bitch who has a lovely overall make and shape in appearance. Well-constructed all through with pleasing head, forequarters, body and hindquarters. Handler needs to improve her skills to get the best out of Snowdrift’s movement.

True front, well-developed in body and stable moderately angled hindquarters. Moved well with extension viewed in side gait and the better mover of the class.                                                                                       2ND    3220 - Beabeardies Grace Kelly (Ms P.a. Mitchell) a 16-month-old of similar size to 1st. Pleasing overall conformation and shape. Tended to look ruffled and not in the best of coat. True enough in front, good spring and length of ribbing with moderate hindquarters. She has a very attractive head both in size and shape Overall she is of pleasing construction in front, body and hindquarters. Flowing, well defined outline with moderate angulation behind. Stands out well over the ground presenting her satisfying body shape and proportions to advantage. Best mover of the class.                      2ND    3176 - Bramblemead Sparkling Lady JW (Mrs K & Mr R & Miss J Axford) a 2½-year-old old slate grey well coated young bitch slightly finer than 1st. She has an attractive head and expression and stands firm over the ground presenting a satisfying breed typical picture. She is of pleasing proportions and balanced front and rear. Soundly made in front and is well ribbed back with enough spring. Firm level top line. Moved with free, purposeful action but not as settled in front compared to 1st.                                                        3RD    3228 - Breaksea Sweet Sensation for Caldermist (Mrs A Pedder)

Attractive head and eyes presenting an engaging expression. Pleasing in neck, true in front, with good lay-back and fill-in, firm body of pleasing overall length with strong stable hindquarters. She presents a well proportioned and balanced profile picture and moves with a free, steady action with pleasing side gait.                                                                                2ND    3227 - Eltimaris Platinum Pudding JW (Mrs J & Mr S Patterson) a nearly 3½-year-old slate grey well-coated bitch who is of pleasing size and overall body length and of similar style to 1st, I just preferred the flowing outline of 1st. Attractive head both in size and shape. True well-boned front, firm body with desirable length of ribbing and nicely angled hindquarters. She has a coat of good length and texture and presented in a well-groomed excellent condition. She has a beautiful head which is set well onto a strong good length neck. True in front, firm body and nicely let down hindquarters with parallel low hocks. Overall, she is in proportion length to height and is of good size and is balanced. Moved free with a purposeful an easy action. Just edged out in the bitch challenge by another altogether super bitch. My Reserve Bitch CC winner                                       2ND    3249 - Ch Corimist Destiny by Design (Miss N & Ms J Whelan & Young) a mature 5-year-old dark slate grey striking bitch. Overall, she is an impressive bitch being well groomed and having a breed typical coat. Attractive head, eyes and expression, well-made front with necessary forechest, well-made firm body and nicely angled hindquarters. Pleasing proportions length to height and balanced in angulations front and rear. Close up to 1st. Moved with an easy free action but not overall as settled as 1st.
