London Reform Pekingese Association

Breed: Pekingese

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Officers and Committee of the London Reform Pekingese Association for generously offering me the appointment to award CCs for the first time in Pekingese, and for the stunning gift of a pair of bronze Foo Dogs.

Having owned and shown the breed for over 20 years now, I like to think we have been able to create a kennel of dogs that have a distinct type, which hopefully others have been able to tell what I like in a Pekingese. Having judged the breed in several countries across the world, I can still say, personally, the UK remains the strongest in terms of overall quality, which is probably why the English Champion title appears to be the most coveted.

I was extremely pleased with my entry, especially since the club is the furthest south of all the remaining breed clubs, and in the current financial climate. I would like to extend my thanks to Winnie Mee, my mentor, for her guidance over the years, and for helping shape our kennel we currently have today. She, Jordan, and Anthony Ransome were fantastic hosts for our flying visit and made the whole weekend stress-free.

Congratulations to the club for running one of the friendliest and warmest atmospheres at a breed club show I have been to. The small Committee worked together tirelessly to make sure the whole day ran smoothly. The ring was a lovely size, adorned with beautiful Chinese pots of Cyclamen in the corners, and arranged flowers on the tables and stage. The food was fantastic, and plenty of choices to choose from.

Thank you to Jo Smith for stewarding and helping keep everything flowing smoothly and on track, and finally, to the exhibitors, both those in attendance and those who were unable to attend. I was very humbled to have the opportunity to judge your dogs.
