Ulster Chihuahua Club

Breed: Chihuahua (Smooth Coat)
ULSTER CHIHUAHUA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – 27 September 2025

Thank you very much for the invitation from the club to award CCs in Smooth Coats for the first time. I have been involved with the club for almost 20 years, stewarding regularly at the Championships shows for Long Coats and serving on the Committee. One thing I will say about them is that, despite being a small Committee, they work extremely hard to put on a great show and create a lovely, friendly atmosphere, and this year is no different.

The new hall and location were the perfect choice for their show. The hall was a great size, excellent parking, and literally 5 minutes from the Belfast CH show at the Eikon Centre. The after-show dinner only added to the friendly, relaxed nature the club aims to provide.

Huge thank you to my stewards Karen Murphy and Pearl Ward, and my fellow judges Andrew Stewart (Long Coats) and Edith Lynch (BIS, BPIS, BVIS, and BBPIS) for their company.

In a time when travel, fuel, etc, is becoming extremely expensive, thank you very much to the exhibitors for their entries and for making the effort to attend. I was even more surprised to find the eventual CC winners came from even further afield – Gibraltar and the Netherlands.

1) Llamas, Llamas & Requena’s Gibeltarik Parti Kiss, 19-month-old, blue and white parti, I loved this boy as soon as I saw him walking around the hall. He has a stunning expression aided by his eyes. He has a gorgeous head with large, flared, well-set ears, excellent apple-dome skull, wonderful, large, round, dark eyes, excellent fill under the eyes, excellent scissor bite, super arched neck, lovely forechest and tight front, spirit level topline, lovely sickle tail well carried. He has a super, sweet temperament with a cheeky glint in his eyes when you look at him. For me, his overall look, head type, and the extension of the front helped secure him the CC and BOB. The owner informed me that today was his first CC. I hope he continues to bring him to the UK to gain his title, which he should have no problem doing.
