I would like to thank the committee of the Southern Rhodesian Ridgeback Association for inviting me to judge at their Championship Show. It was an immense honour. A big thank you also to my stewards, Jenny Vincent and Adam Hawkins. Not forgetting my sincere thanks to the exhibitors for giving me such a lovely entry of hounds to judge. It was a privilege and an honour to go over them all.

Effortless movement with good reach and drive was one of the main attributes I was looking for enabling the Rhodesian Ridgeback to be able to perform the task for which they were originally bred. This required great endurance with a fair amount of speed.

All temperaments were excellent and ridges and bites acceptable, so I will not comment further.

Class 1 Minor Puppy (1 Entry) Abs 0

1st Lloyd Jones’ – Africaner Sundown

A nine month old puppy, red wheaten in colour which is going through a loose stage at present. He has plenty of time to tighten up. Good bone and feet, with a correct level topline which was held on the move. Lovely head proportions and reach of neck.

1st Pearce’s – Kinyemi Song of Serengeti Sepiwi Sekayi for Msingi (IMP DNK)

This smart puppy looked a picture, very well put together, with plenty of bone, excellent angulation, moved well with good level topline. Lovely reach to neck and correct tail set. Good head proportions with pleasing round eye and ear carriage. BPIS

2nd Catharell’s – Kinabula’s Making Magick for Faahac

Another lovely puppy. Smaller than first place. Well balanced and well ribbed back with lovely reach of neck. Good head planes with a lovely round eye and correct ear carriage. Just lost out to first place on movement.

1st Geeves’ – Kiromol Knight of the Realm

The best mover in the class. Well balanced standing and on the move with good angulation and correct level top line, good depth and infill to chest. Well ribbed back with a strong loin and excellent bone and feet. Good head planes with a lovely round eye, correct ear carriage and good length of neck. Moved with reach and drive which gave him the edge.

2nd Jolly’s – Priorpark William Wallace for Clanbruachan

Very well balanced standing and on the move with good level topline and lovely depth to chest and reach of neck. Good head planes, eye and ear carriage. Correct infill to forechest, well ribbed back with lovely bone and angulation. Just lost out on movement to first place.

Lovely two years of age red wheaten. Good angulation with plenty of bone, well ribbed back with correct drop of chest, good length of loin, correct level topline and tail carriage, lovely reach of neck with elbows held close to body. Good clean head planes with lovely round eyes, correct ear carriage. Moved with good reach and drive from behind.

2nd Hicks’ – Nuthouse Mastermind

Well balanced with good angulation throughout. Did not move as well as first place today. Good drop of forechest, well ribbed back with lovely level topline and good reach of neck. Pleasing head proportions with a kind expression.

3rd Lilly’s – Umhlandla Ubhuti Omkhulu

1st Darnell’s- Rubiltra Gunna B Victorious

Moved beautifully showing good angulation while standing and on the move. Very well balanced throughout with good bone, well ribbed back and elbows held close to the body. Good clean head proportions with lovely round eye and correct ear carriage with lovely reach of neck.

2nd Digby’s – Sonnypride Cookies An Cream Of Inbajsha

Handsome boy with good bone. Well ribbed back with good length to neck. Lovely level topline which was held nicely on the move. Good head planes, eye and ear carriage with a very kind expression. Moved well.

3rd Whiteside’s – Jimanns Jackass

1st Shaw’s – Negasi Radagast JW

I liked this dog very much, sound all round with all the correct attributes. He won this class on his movement. Good level top line and well angulated. Lovely reach of neck. Correct head planes with good ear carriage and lovely round eyes. Good tail carriage and correct length of loin with lovely width to first and second thigh.

2nd Johnson’s – Ungowa On The Road Again With Vapfumi

Handsome boy with lovely balanced movement and ample bone, slightly shorter in body than first place. Lovely drop of chest and well ribbed back with lovely reach of neck. Correct head planes with correct round eye and good ear carriage.

3rd Dawson’s – Priorpark Problem Solved

1st Hodge’s – I’m Old Fashioned For Colkeririn JW (IMP FIN)

Beautifully balanced with superb angulation with no exaggerations. Handsome strong and muscular with excellent bone, but not overdone. Lovely straight front with super infill of forechest and elbows held close to the body. Good level topline with lovely length of neck, correct head planes, good round eye and ear carriage, lovely length and depth to muzzle. Deep and capacious chest, well ribbed back with lovely width to first and second thigh. Feet compact with well arched toes. Movement balanced and free with drive. Pleased to award him his third CC and BIS.

2nd Storey & Piehl’s – Ch Kiromol Heaven Can Wait (AI)

This lovely boy was my BPIB when I judged at Crufts five years ago. He has developed into a beautifully balanced adult hound. Lost out to first place on movement today. Correct level topline with lovely infill of forechest and well ribbed back. Lovely head proportions with superb round eye and ear carriage, good length and depth of muzzle, he has a kind expression. Lovely bone and feet. Movement free and balanced with drive. RCC

His well balanced movement won him the class. Good level topline, lovely bone and feet with correct reach of neck. Good depth to chest and well ribbed back with good width to first and second thigh. Correct head proportions with lovely round eyes and correct ear carriage.

2nd Whiteside’s – Jimanns The Doctor

I have long admired this boy, but he did not move as well as first place today. He certainly does not look his age. Lovely level top line and well angulated with good depth of chest and well ribbed back. Correct head planes with a lovely kind expression.

1st Hick’s – Nuthouse Hot Stuff

This lovely ten and a half years lady was enjoying her day out. Moved well. Good level topline, well ribbed back with correct angulation. Lovely head planes with correct dark round eye and ear carriage.

2nd Manning’s – Fiadma Jorge Kahawia

A very lovely lady of eleven years of age and in superb condition. Good angulation with lovely reach of neck. Correct depth to chest and well ribbed back with, good width to first and second thigh. Pleasing head with a kind expression. Moved very well but not with the same reach and drive as first place today.

A very smart young lady. Well balanced with good angulation. Moved well. Good bone with a correct level topline which was held on the move. Chest well ribbed back with lovely length to loin and elbows held close to body. Correct head, eye and ear carriage with lovely reach of neck.

Very well balanced standing and on the move with excellent angulation. Moved with correct reach in front and drive from behind. Lovely level topline which was held on the move, well ribbed back with elbows held tight to body and good length to loin. Good bone, correct head proportions with lovely round eye and ear carriage. Very promising.

1st Salmon’s – Lobengula Giah

A superb young lady, excellently balanced while standing and on the move, the best mover in the class. Correct level topline which was held on the move with lovely length of neck. Good head proportions, correct round dark eye and ear carriage. Lovely depth to chest, well ribbed back with correct length to loin, good infill of forechest and good width to first and second thigh. Very promising.

2nd Cox & Musgrave’s – Carlincox Don’t Knock It

Another lovely young lady that is very well balanced with good angulation. Correct head planes, with kind expression. Good depth and infill to chest, well ribbed back with lovely reach to neck, length to loin and well let down hocks. Just lost out on movement to first place today. One to watch.

3rd Mill’s – Priorpark Pride And Joy To Nzuri.

Class 15 Graduate Bitch (10 Entries) Abs 3

1st Kerr’s – Priorpark Pure Theatre At Buhera

Lovely well balanced light wheaten girl with good angulation and bone. Moved well, good depth of chest and well ribbed back, with good length to body. Lovely level topline which was held on the move. Correct head planes with good round eyes and ear carriage, lovely reach of neck and feet.

2nd Mill’s – Priorpark Pride And Joy To Nzuri.

Well angulated and balanced throughout with correct level topline. Moved well but preferred the movement of first place today. Good drop and infill of chest, well ribbed back with correct length to loin. Good head planes with an intelligent kind expression and lovely reach of neck.

3rd Shaw’s – Negasi Goldberry.

1st Storey & Piehl’s – Kiromol Dare To Flair

This lovely girl has good angulation and is very well balanced while standing and on the move. Correct bone and standing on good feet, well ribbed back with good level topline which was held while moving and lovely reach to neck. Good head planes with lovely round eye and ear carriage. Movement effortless with reach and drive from behind.

2nd Coyne’s – Ozubi’s Sweet Pickle

This girl is also very well made. Balanced while standing and on the move with good angulation and bone. Good head proportions with correct round eye and ear carriage, lovely depth and length to muzzle. Super reach of neck, lovely depth and infill to chest and well ribbed back.

Very well balanced with good angulation and correct level topline which was held on the move. Moved well from all angles. Good bone and feet with a deep capacious chest which was well ribbed back. Excelled in the head with lovely round eyes and ear carriage and good reach to neck.

2nd Willoughby’s – Kazembe Cult Classic

Very close to first place but just lost out on movement today. Looked a picture in profile while standing, very well balanced with good angulation. Lovely level topline with good bone and well ribbed back and correct width to first and second thigh. Good head planes with a kind expression, a lovely round eye and correct ear carriage.

Beautifully constructed girl with plenty of bone. Well balanced standing and on the move with excellent angulation, which gave correct and balanced movement. Lovely head planes with a kind expression, correct round eye and ear carriage. Lovely reach of neck leading down into sloping and clean shoulders, good width to first and second thigh and correct tail set. Good deep capacious chest with correct infill of forechest and good length to loin.

2nd Ritchie’s – Jimanns Hell On Heels ShCEx

Another lovely girl with plenty of bone. Well balanced with good angulation with balanced sound movement. Lovely deep chest, well ribbed back with good infill of forechest and good reach to neck. Correct head proportions with correct round eye and ear carriage. Just lost out to first place on movement today.

A beautiful girl, well boned with nothing overdone. Excellent angulation in front and rear, resulting in movement being balanced and free with drive. Good strong hind quarters with good width to first and second thigh, standing on correct feet. Excellent head proportions, lovely round dark eye and correct ear carriage. Good strong neck letting down into sloping and clean shoulders. Excellent depth of chest and infill, well ribbed back with correct length of loin and level topline. CC & RBIS

2nd Kirby & Mansfield’s – CH Shingwidsi Tshedisa Light

Another well balanced girl with excellent angulation while standing and on the move. Correct head plane, eye and ear carriage. Lovely clean reach of neck. Good depth to chest, with correct infill and well ribbed back with good length to loin. Lovely straight front with elbows held close to body. Correct feet with well arched toes. Well defined hindquarters with good width to first and second thigh. Just did not move quite as well as first place today. RCC

Good reach to neck and good width to first and second thigh. Good head planes with a kind expression. BVIS
