Firstly I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their entries and their sporting manner in accepting a student judge to join me and for how my decisions and selections were received.
As always, it’s a pleasure to judge a breed you live with every day and as previously I found some significant size variation in the breed with some verging on exceeding the UK standard. Presentation was generally excellent, however still some evidence of coat trimming could be observed.
I also noted that there were a number of untypical gaits with exaggerated high kicking rears and over reach.
MALES
Veteran Dog (1 entry)
1st: Short’ “Zakaytia Angel of Mine” 10 ½ years, a well-balanced male of good bone and substance and presented in superb condition, delightful expression from masculine wedge head, can carry his ears a little wide when relaxed, firm neck and strong topline, body firm and covered in well-presented full coat of good texture, angulation front and rear well matched which allowed him to move cleanly with positive reach and drive.

Good balance of bone, good feet and a short, firm loin. Still maturing, he is a little unbalanced in angulation, with the rear slightly more developed, which can lessen the positivity of his movement and creates a lower tail set at present.

two super youngsters who gave me a difficult decision to make as both share super qualities and I had difficulty splitting them, with one just edging it in the final run off with her precise footfall.

She has a well arched neck of correct length, firm topline, good ribbing and a firm muscular loin, Feminine head with correct skull proportions, neat well set ears, excellent eye shape and pigment, and the characteristic Samoyed smiling expression. Feminine head with correct wedge shape, well furred ears and good eye shape and pigment. Strong neck flowing into a well-proportioned body, good topline and tail set. Excellent coat and condition. I preferred the leg length of this exhibit, which gave her a slightly more elegant outline, but on the final run-off she was not quite as precise and settled as the winner, overall though a sound clean mover. Moved well in the challenge to be awarded the RCC in strong competition.
