South Wales Kennel Association  General Championship show

Saturday 11th October 2025

Thank You for a wonderful Championship Show

I have only ever exhibited at Builth before, but I genuinely enjoyed the setup, location, and the convenience of being able to walk into town.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at your championship show—this being my first time judging at this level.

My appreciation also goes to my stewards for their time and excellent assistance throughout the days.

It was a real pleasure to judge Manchester Terrier, Parson Russell Terrier, Bedlington Terrier, and Smooth Collies.

Thank you all for your entries and for the good nature shown in accepting my decisions on the day. From the feedback received, you all found it as enjoyable as I did judging your wonderful dogs.

Smooth Collie

Class 1420 Puppy Dog (0 entries)

Class 1421 Junior Dog (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Thomas & Lusty, Miss HL & Ms A, Blamorder Side Hustle with Mournebrake

A 17 month old tri dog Well proportioned head, flat skull, two parallel planes, perceptive stop, with well rounded blunt muzzle, good dark almond shaped expressive eyes, well angulated fore, and hind quarters. Level back leading to low carried tail, good length of stride and drive from the rear carried him around the ring well today. Gave the BD a good challenge and can see him doing well in his career.

Awarded RD

Class 1422 Post Graduate Dog (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Roberts, Miss J, McClelland Sergeant Pepper

A maturing dog of over 2.5 years old sable, fair wedge shaped head, well proportioned to his size, dark eyes, fair length of neck into good overall body shape. Coat in good condition, movement was ok but was crabbing a little on the long diagonal not showing as much drive and purpose as the 1st place dog

Class 1423 Open Dog (2 entries / 0 absent)

1st Wensley, Mr M & Mrs R, Ch Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive JW

A lovely well-matured four-year-old tricolour dog, showing notable development since previously judged. Maintains his characteristic lively temperament in the ring. Exhibits excellent overall balance and proportion, with a flat skull, correct parallel planes and stop, and a well rounded, blunt muzzle. Eyes are dark and expressive, complementing the breed’s typical alert expression. Fore and hindquarters are well angulated, contributing to sound construction.

Coat presented in harsh condition. Topline remains level both stacked and on the move. Demonstrates a long stride, combining reach and drive from the rear, which carried him effortlessly around the ring today, full marks for the handler getting the most out of him.

Delighted to see him perform so strongly in the Pastoral Group under the esteemed judge Mrs Christina Chapman (Bukris) and gain a Group 3, one of only a few I can remember seeing since being into Smooth Collies.

Awarded BD & BoB

2nd Rodgers, Miss C, Blamorder Mischief Maker with Jerdoni

Another dog I have had the pleasure of judging before now at nearly 3 years old is different to my 1st place, good sable colour, overall good balance and in proportions, would like a stronger wedge shaped head but would not stop him being fit for function. Dark eyes and ears set well. Has a developed well sprung ribs and a deep chest. Movement around the ring well, would like to see the front tighter. Up against a stronger dog today.

Class 1424 Puppy Bitch (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Wensley, Mr M & Mrs R, Blamorder Starstruck

The youngster of the breed today at just 9 months old, Sable feminine bitch, lively and enjoying her day out. Well blunted wedge shaped head, dark expressive eyes and ear well placed. Body still growing but nicely balanced and in good proportions. Could see good movement in glimpses around the ring with smooth action showing, once she settles on the move will be even better.

Awarded BPiB

Class 1425 Junior Bitch (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Watkins, Ms L, Blamorder Unlucky for Some

A 17 month old tri coloured bitch, the sister of my RD today. She is of slighter build then some of the others but lovely balance and proportions throughout. Good shaped wedge and nice parallel planes, with dark sweet expression eyes. Coat in good condition. Angulations good at fore and hind quarters, allowing her to cover the ring smoothly and effortlessly, particularly good challenge between her and my BB today.

Awarded RB

Class 1426 Post Graduate Bitch (1 entry / 1 absent)

Class 1427 Open Bitch (2 entries / 0 absent)

1st Rodgers, Miss C, Blamorder High Brow with Jerdoni

A 4.25 year old feminine tri coloured bitch. Good overall size, well balanced showing good fore and hind angulation. With a level topline to the low set tail. A nice wedge shaped head, with dark almond shaped eye showing sweet expression, ear moderate with good carriage and nice tipping. Coat in good condition. Moved well around the ring showing the distinctly characteristic you would expect to see, held topline and the exhibitor got the most out of her today.

Awarded BB

2nd Cole & Fort, Mrs DA & Miss JM, Shulune Imperial Rum Punch JW

A 2 year old tri bitch, stacked well with nice profile. A lot to like about her to the breed standard. Head with nice wedge shape, dark eye, and good ear carriage. Well angulated fore and hind, good coat. Movement could have had more drive and straightness today compared to my 1st place bitch
