Scottish Kennel Club
Thank you to the Officers and Committee of the Scottish Kennel Club for inviting me to give CCs in Bedlington Terriers for the first time. A special thank you to the exhibitors for the wonderful entry, both quantity and quality. Also thank you so much to my very proficient stewards, Leila Tarabad and Andrew. Thank you to everyone for contributing to me having a wonderful, enjoyable day.
PUPPY DOG (2)
1. Fletcher’s Sharnor Sultan of Spica. Beautiful, graceful appearance with just the right amount of flowing topline. Super pear-shaped head with narrow, deep rounded skull, covered with a profusion of silky topknot. Keen dark triangular eyes and good ears. Correct length of neck, flowing into fairly well laid, flat shoulders. Correct front legs. Chest deep to elbows and flat ribbed. Natural arch over the loin. Muscular hindquarters, moderate turn of stifle with strong hocks well let down. Super light and springy movement. Correct coat and feet. Very well presented and in super condition. One to watch for the future. So pleased he went third in the Terrier Puppy Group at the General Championship show. BEST PUPPY.
2. Scott’s Mickleview Harvest Moon. Masculine head, narrow, rounded skull, with a good scissor bite and moderately sized ears. Correct, good eyes. Enough neck. Correct front. Just a bit too moderate in rear. Moved OK, with correctly shaped feet.
JUNIOR DOG (2)
1. Wilkinson’s Maristella Mitena among Durhamiites. Rather a nice type. He has a very good head with strength of jaw and good scissor bite. Correct shaped eyes, giving a good expression. Lovely thin, velvety ears, set on low. Medium neck. Good lay of flat shoulders. Correct shaped body. Muscled hindquarters, with strong hocks, well let down. Tail set on low. Correct, distinct Bedlington movement, light and springy. Very well presented with a thick, linty coat.
2. Cant’s Rapharnis Mr Jimmy Choo. He did not seem to show himself at his best on the day. In correct Bedlington coat.
POST GRADUATE DOG (2)
1. Ross & Creggan’s Mactufts Gentleman’s Game. I would have liked him just a bit more masculine all over and felt he had the best outline of these two. He has a good head, with rounded narrow skull. Lovely small, bright, dark, triangular eyes. Medium neck and quite a good front. Chest to elbow of correct proportions. Correct topline and hare foot. Moved well.
2. Blakey’s Little Bristle Charmer Belabrisl. He has a lovely temperament. Fairly long head, with super large teeth in a good scissor bite. Medium neck. Chest reaches his elbows. Not the flow of topline required. Coat is not at its best.
LIMIT DOG (2)
1. Bannister’s Miteymidgets Modern Love JW. A well-presented and handled dog, showing him off at his best advantage, giving a lovely outline. Very masculine and well boned. Super head with good depth to his narrow skull, expressive dark eyes with good fill below and ears set on low. Deep, fairly broad chest, with flat ribs. Good shoulder placement, pleasing outline with good length of neck, characteristic topline, deep brisket and tail good for both set and carriage. Good rear angulation and hocks low. Moved out well and made the most of himself. Quality coat and top knot.
2. Scott’s Amifidele Hashtag Hipster. Nice to go over. A smaller, lighter type than above, but quite nice. Pleasing head shape, correct bite and eyes, with well set ears. Correct length of neck and flat shoulders. Nice topline and tail set. Long hare shaped feet. Deep in brisket. Correct light and springy movement.
OPEN DOG (5)
1. Mcnally’s Ch Conekesheved Out of The Blue JW. A really worthy champion. My notes say – ‘absolutely fabulous’! A wonderful example of the breed. Lovely outline and balance. Super unbroken head with narrow, deep and rounded skull. Correct small, bright, dark, triangular shaped eyes. Nice length of neck, well laid shoulder and a correct ‘horseshoe’ front. Deep chest down to the elbow. Flat shoulders and ribs, with strong loin. Lovely natural arch over the loin with defined tuck up. Correct rear angulation for the breed. The true Bedlington ‘mince’ movement, with light and springy action. Lovely thick, linty coat. DOG CC.
2. Cumming’s Ch Rocabec Riding Shotgun. He certainly did not show his 6 years of age. He was very nice, showing off a super outline of good proportions. He has a lovely head of correct proportions and length, with correct dark, triangular shaped eyes. Good length of neck and shoulder placement. Correct front and bone. Good natural arch over the loin, with definite tuck-up. Good hind quarters. Moved very well with light and springy action. Correct thick linty coat texture. Very well presented and handled. RESERVE DOG CC.
3. Bannister’s Ch Miteymidgets New Vision JW.
4. Martin’s Honeymist Firecracker.
SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG (1)
1. Blakey’s Little Bristle Carmer Belabrisl. AS ABOVE.
PUPPY BITCH (1)
1. Fletcher’s Mickleview Layla. A very feminine 7-month-old baby, with a good outline. Quite immature, but lots of potential. She has a correct feminine unbroken head, with super small, bright, dark triangular eyes. Good scissor bite. Sufficient neck. Lovely ‘horseshoe’ front. Chest to drop with age. Topline coming well. Moderate angulation. Super light, mincy movement. Very well presented.
JUNIOR BITCH (3)
1. Gillies’ Rhicullen Lady Charlotte. I did not think there was a lot between these two. This one was more mature and bodied. She has an unbroken feminine head, with good, small, dark triangular eyes. Typical Bedlington forequarters and arch over her loin. Nice Bedlington ‘mince.’
2. Scott’s Silverkinn Time for Tea Rose. A 11-month-old puppy. She has a nice feminine head and appears to have a rounder eye. Good neck, shoulders, forequarters and bone. Just needs to grow into her rear. Correct tail set and carriage. Moved typically and soundly.
POST GRADUATE BITCH (4)
1. Cumming’s Rocabec Sparks Fly. A true Bedlington Terrier. Beautifully presented, giving her a very good outline. She has a super unbroken feminine head with deep, narrow, rounded skull. Correct small, dark, triangular eyes. Correct length of neck. Chest reaching elbows. Graceful topline with natural rise over loin. Moved very well with the typical ‘mincing’ Bedlington style.
2. Mackie’s Daldorn Candy Kisses. A close thing between this one and above, as she was shapely, typical and everything is in balance. She has a nice unbroken head, enough neck and quite a good front. She tends to stand with literally a level topline, but when examining her she has a roach over her loin. She moved very well in a true Bedlington fashion. Presented and handled very well. Attractive coat colour.
3. Ross & Creggan’s Mactufts Top of The Game.
4. Jackson’s Terrablue Spirit Bizzibeddies.
LIMIT BITCH (3)
1. Martin’s Honeymist Dazzle Me. Well-presented and handled, as would be expected from this kennel. More the older fashioned type. She has a beautiful unbroken feminine head. Narrow skull, deep and rounded, covered with a profusion of silky topknot, emphasizing the lovely shape. Flowing neck into correct shoulders. Nice ‘horseshoe’ front. Deep chest reaching elbows. Lovely flow of topline with natural arch of the loin. Moved very well.
2. Ross & Creggan’s Mactufts Kindred Spirit. Another nice bitch, but smaller, who appealed on outline and overall style. Not presented to such a high standard, but very nice. Good unbroken head, with small, dark triangular eyes. Correct skull. Good depth of chest and typical front assembly. Correct underline. Nice hind quarters and low set tail. Moved very well, with true Bedlington ‘mincing.’
3. Fraser & Butler’s Worth Waiting for from Ycart.
OPEN BITCH (4)
1. Mcnally’s Ch Conekesheved Too Shy JW. Well, what can I say, but thank you so much for entering this wonderful, worthy champion, for me to judge. She was immaculately presented and in toned condition. Wonderful outline and so balanced. Super head, skull, eyes, ears and mouth. Correct forequarters. A quality body and topline. Good hindquarters and wonderful movement. Coat presented in excellent condition. Everything is according to the breed standard. What else can I say, other than I was delighted to see she topped the Terrier Group at this show. That says it all! BITCH CC & BEST OF BREED.
2. Scott’s Janmark Je Ne Sais Pas avec Mickleview JW. Won her place on movement. She had excellent Bedlington movement, with reach from the front and drive from the rear. Correct make and shape. Nice unbroken head. Narrow, deep, rounded skull, small, dark, triangular shaped eyes and low set ears. Good scissor bite. Lengthy neck. Deep chest to elbow. Flat ribs. ‘Horseshoe’ front and well-muscled hindquarters with low hocks. Hare feet. Moved well. Good coat and colour.
3. Hanes’ Ch Janmark The Name of The Game JW.
4. Ross & Creggan’s Mactufts Nanny Mcphee.
VETERAN BITCH (4)
1. Bannister’s Ch Miteymidgets Going Global JW ShCM VW. She has always been one of my favourites, ever since I put her above top winners, as a puppy. Still wonderful and full of charm at 11 years old. She never disappoints and is a very worthy champion. Blue bitch, so graceful, with everything flowing, showing no weakness or coarseness. Lovely pear-shaped head, with narrow and rounded skull. Small dark, triangular eyes and super thin ears. Good length of neck into good shoulders. Deep chest. Correct straight forelegs, forming a good ‘horseshoe’ shape. Nice topline with arched loin. Due to age, just beginning to lose hindquarter muscle. She still has that wonderful Bedlington movement, especially in front, which cannot be ignored. In super coat of correct texture and colour. So shapely, moderate and balanced. Still on great form. RESERVE BITCH CC & BEST VETERAN.
2. Ainsley’s Raphelyans Miss Armani at Rapharni. Won her place on movement. Also, a nice type, although she stood with a bit too much roach for me at times. Typical head with narrow, deep, rounded skull. Nice body proportions and substance. Moved with true Bedlington ‘mince.’
3. Mackie’s Rhicullen Dancing Girl.
4. Ross & Creggan’s Raphelyans Unzip to Roisins at Mactufts.
SPECIAL BEGINNERS BITCH (1)
1. Jackson’s Terrablue Spirit Bizzibeddies. She enjoyed her day, with a super temperament, presenting a reasonable, balanced outline of good proportions. She has a very good feminine, pear-shaped head. Lovely small, bright, dark, triangular eyes and correct ears. Good scissor bite. Medium length of neck and correct depth of chest. Correct topline and hindquarters. Good bone and feet. She moved quite well. BEST SPECIAL BEGINNERS.
