Breed: Norwegian Buhund

Thank you so much to Caroline and her committee for inviting me to judge Norwegian Buhunds without CCs. A special thank you to my stewards, Hilary Gilpin and Karen. The entry may have been numerically small, but the quality was extremely high. I was so pleased to see my Best Puppy go second in the Pastoral Puppy Group and my Best of Breed was shortlisted in a very strong Pastoral Group.

PUPPY DOG (3)

1. Denham-Horton & Bolton’s Tapui Haraldsson at Jjavacobe. A more mature puppy dog, bearing in mind they were all of a similar age. He produced a very nice outline with his lightly built and short compact body. His head is developing very well, forming a lovely wedge shape with medium length of muzzle. Dark eyes with good expression and correctly shaped, erect, well-placed ears. Medium length of neck, good front quarters, straight line of back, deep chest and ribbed well back. Strong hindquarters with moderate angulation. Well set tightly curled tail carried over his back. Excellent, rather small, oval feet. The best mover in the class. Lightly moving straight, with good stride. RESERVE BEST DOG & BEST PUPPY.

2. Cobb, Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Ragged Robin. Another nice black puppy dog, with similar attributes to the above, but not the maturity. He presents a balanced, unexaggerated outline, compact without coarseness. I felt his head was nice but not so developed as the above. Well bodied and presented well. High set tail carried correctly and neat feet. He moved well.

3. Cobb, Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Beau Bramble.

OPEN DOG (2)

1. Shore-Wheeler’s Ch Koromandel Tusen Takk JW (AI) ShCEx OSW. A very worthy champion, who excels in breed type. He is gorgeous in every way. A true example of everything being moderate. Well balanced, medium size and free from exaggeration anywhere. Super wedge-shaped head with broad flat skull, a marked stop, medium length of muzzle and a black nose. Dark brown eyes with distinct expression. Well placed ears of correct shape and size. Medium length of neck. Moderately angled fore and hindquarters. Strong, short body with slight slope to his topline. Beautiful tail. Presented in super coat. Very skillfully handled to produce the perfect flowing movement with good stride with no exaggeration. BEST DOG & BEST OF BREED.

PUPPY BITCH (2)

1. Wheeler’s Knytshall Thisle Ink It Up Koromandel. Litter sister to the second placed dog puppy, having much of the same attributes. Very well balanced, lightly built with a short compact body, giving a very square appearance. Wedge-shaped head with ears set on well, dark eyes, tapering muzzle and scissor bite. I assume skull will broaden with age. Moderately arched neck of moderate length flowing into well placed shoulders. Nice fore chest for age. Good level back, good depth to chest, ribbing extends well back with short couplings. Well-muscled strong hindquarters with moderate angulation. Curled tail set on high. Very well constructed, always standing ‘four square’ on excellent feet. She moves so well without exaggeration, but lightly, straight and true with a good stride. She never stops showing. Presented in weatherproof coat. BEST BITCH.

YEARLING BITCH (2)

1. Platt’s Mazads Joie De Vivre. A well-made young feminine bitch presenting the correct outline. She has an attractive feminine wedge-shaped head with dark eyes and lovely pigment. Lovely shaped ears which are sharply pointed and high set. Medium length of neck flowing into good shoulders. Strong short body and straight back. Well carried high set tail. Well-muscled hindquarters with moderate angulation. Moved extremely well without exaggeration. Super weatherproof harsh jacket.

OPEN BITCH (4)

1. Strong’s Draccus I Have a Dream (AI). Another very nice young bitch with more maturing to do. She has a very nice lean head with beautifully shaped dark eyes and well-shaped ears. I hope her skull will broaden slightly, when fully mature, to place her ears farther apart. Moderate neck, straight, strong fore legs, with a lovely level line of back. Strong hind legs, moderately angulated. Nice oval shaped small feet. Tail set on high well curled over her back. Moved extremely well, winning her the class. Presented in very nice coat. RESERVE BEST BITCH.

2. Cobb, Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Eloise RL2 EX. With her qualifications, I assume she is a good Rally dog. Older than the rest, showing a well-balanced short compact outline. Super black coloured coat. A very nice type with a well-proportioned wedge-shaped head. Good body, well set tail curled over her back.

3. Strong’s Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen at Draccus.
