Southern Counties Canine Association

Breed: Beauceron

Thank you to the Society for inviting me to judge this lovely breed. Thank you to Pat Lewis and Jane Hawkins for being such excellent stewards.

OPEN DOG (1)

1. Harrell & Branchflower’s Titan Des Ramparts Castels with Beaukita (Imp Fra). Well grown large, solid 3-year-old dog, of good proportions and full of breed type. Presented in good condition and bone. Nicely proportioned head, with correct skull and muzzle. Dark, oval eyes and well set dropped ears of correct length. Strong muzzle and neck. Moderate front angulation. Nice body shape, good spring of ribs, strong loin and level topline. Correct rear angulation with double dewclaws set close to his feet. Good side gait. BEST DOG.

VETERAN BITCH (1)

1. Thrower’s Pebbleena’s Cascabel Avec Tallowah. A well balanced 7 and half year-old Harlequin bitch, presented in lovely condition with good bone. Nice feminine head of good proportion and shape. Good dark, oval eyes and well used and placed dropped ears. Super strong teeth with full dentition. Good shoulder placement and held her top line on the move. Good hindquarters, with the required dew claws and moved well.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (1)

1. Dandridge’s Beaukitas Hyde Park. A 3-year-old very feminine bitch, who was verging on the ‘too light’ for this large, solid breed. Correct head of good proportions and moderate stop. Dark, oval eyes. And OK ears. Medium neck. Moderate angulation. Forelegs clean and muscular, medium boned and straight. Well sprung ribs, strong loin and good hindquarters with dew claws. Moved OK. RESERVE BEST BITCH.

OPEN BITCH (1)

1. Phelps’ Strudel Avec Pebbleena Des Bergers Du Vent. A very nice-looking Harlequin bitch, full of type. A good example of the breed, having good substance of correct proportions. She has a well-balanced head with moderate stop. Dark, oval eyes and well set dropped ears. Correct shoulder placement. Wide and deep chest. Forelegs straight, clean and muscular. Level top line, good spring of ribs and correct hindquarters. She moved the best, with effortless, free strides of good reach. Appeared a bit unsettled, not really making the most of herself, which was a great shame. However, her conformation and movement were good enough for me to give her - BEST BITCH & BEST OF BREED.
