Richmond Dog Show Society

Breed: Greyhound
I always enjoy judging Greyhounds & was very pleased with the entry today considering no CCs were on offer, many thanks to the exhibitors and also to my stewards, Richard & Susan. Class 1009 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1715 BAKEWELL, Miss Kelly Estet Classic Sherwood Adventures (imp Est), a very lovely puppy with a lot going for him even at this tender age. Lovely head and eye, great neck & forehand; super topline and ribbing, excellent quarters & good feet. He is very puppyish at the minute & still needs to come together up and back and in profile; but he is most promising and has it all there. Ch quality for sure. Close up for RBD, BPD & BPIB, although he was the only puppy I think it would have taken a good one to have beaten him. Class 1011 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1723 WILCE QUINTON, Mrs J Azravi's Marked By The Sunrise At Kirjojax (Imp Nor), a very upstanding hound and he is most striking for his outline and balance. Very well made and has a lovely head and eye. Great neck and shoulders which do really add to his appeal, good ribbing and topline, stands on good legs and feet and goes with a good, easy stride in profile. Quite accurate up and back, if a little wider at rear which cost him BOB, another who I imagine could title. 2nd: 1722 SAWER, Mrs Sarah Boughton Back On Top, lovely dog for shape and balance, liked his head and eye, not quite the neck of the winner but he has a good chest & ribbing and he is well made in body. He is a mite steeper in croup than the winner but he has excellent hindquarters and carried his tail well. Although he is sound and free on the move, as opposed to the winner I found him a little ‘flat’ on the day & up against a dog completely on his toes I could do nothing else. I made the decision to award him RBD over the lovely young puppy based on his side stride, where the puppy is a little ‘floppy’ at the minute. Class 1013 PGB (4 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: 1718 BOGGIA, Ms Clare Boughton Back For Good JW, I did not think she would be the winner of this class on first glance, as 2nd presented a super picture stood. I’m going over her, I found little I would really want to change at this stage of her development. Good head and eye, has strength but she is feminine there; very good forehand and chest, well ribbed and she does have a good topline, despite her best efforts to hide this by ‘slinking’ back against her handler; comes together lovely on the move and acquitted herself well there, being very free, easy and accurate. RBB. 2nd: 1724 WILCE QUINTON, Mrs J Inchydoney Memories Vinlandia Raspberry Chocolat A, the winner at first based on her shape and outline standing. I found her a touch finer in head than Back For Good & I might have preferred a little more strength, even for a bitch. She stands on good legs and feet and is balanced for angulation at both ends. A mite narrower up & back than Back For Good, but she is another good one and I think you could make a case for swapping them around. 3rd: 1720 HEYMAN, Miss J Heathlawn Darci Class 1014 OB (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1721 HOLDER AND BOGGIA, Mrs And Miss Maggie And Clare Ch Boughton Back To The Future JW, lovely bitch, excellent head and eye, good clean neck, really good in shoulder and upperarm, some depth to her chest & super ribbing; excellent topline & hindquarters and in the peak of fitness and condition throughout. Comes to life on the move, energetic and elegant but very accurate up and back and a lovely free profile mover with the carriage that her constriction suggests she should have. An easy BB & ultimately BOB. 2nd: 1719 BOGGIA, Ms Clare & GRAHAM, Mr Reagan Rubicon's Songbird By Boughton (Imp USA), I awarded this bitch a Hound Group at an Open Show earlier on in the year so it was very interesting to make her acquaintance again in breed competition. She is a very sound & typical bitch throughout, although she had a difficult task to match the carriage and outline of the winner going around on the day. In great muscle & optimum condition. Class 1015 SBD/B (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1720 HEYMAN, Miss J Heathlawn Darci, certainly didn’t look out of place here today and her outline and balance are very nice. Quite expressive in head with a glint in her eye, enough neck and well ribbed, decent topline & she has a free, easy action on the move, BSBIB. Evan L Ryan (Cavallibrook/Feorlig)
