Curly coated Retrievers Darlington 2025
Sadly a few of the critiques were lost in my computer and had to be re-written.
Veteran Dog (2,1)
1. Hunters Pride Jurajska Gwiazda At Tarockwood
A very strong, masculine dog, I definitely would not want any more of him. Strong head, plenty of skull of good length. Darkest of eyes. Very good ears, well set and small. Strong neck, well set into topline. When he decided to be cooperative he stood well over his legs and feet. Very well angulated behind. I would not want him any wider or deeper than this, his body is more than enough. In a lovely coat. On repeated trials he moved quite well, if a little bum high.
Puppy Dog (2,1)
1. Foxriever Fire Fly
At almost 12 months old, this is a big and strong and well developed dog. A little longer cast than my ideal. Strong head with correct stop and well set ears on the large side. Eyes could be darker even for his colour, liver. Good rise of neck, pleasing forechest for his age. Deep chest. At this time he is higher behind than in front and could drop down into his angulation behind. He evens out in movement and looked better moving than standing. In a very good coat. He moved well from the side and from behind, tending to toe in in front which he also did standing.
Junior Dog (3)
1. Foxriever Immortal Spirit
A strong, very well developed dog. Very masculine. He has a strong head with pleasing length and correct slight stop. Very dark eyes. Good ears. Strong neck. Excellent topline, moderate angulation both ends. In an excellent coat. Moved cleanly coming and going and kept his outline on the move. Moderate drive.
2. Krisbos Leonidas With Molokain
A dog with an attractive balance, but just strong enough in bone and head. Pleasing head proportions. Good rise of neck. Could be a little firmer in his topline. He moved well from the side, quite wobbly behind. In a very good coat, well handled.
3. Foxriever Fire Fly
Post Graduate Dog (3)
1. Foxriever Immortal Spirit
2. Firecuri Maxim
An elegant dog, he is well proportioned and with a pleasing body shape. Quite extreme in his head, dark eyes. Long neck. Balanced angulation both ends. Rather straight in his pasterns. Lacks quite a lot of weight and is too narrow over the loin as well as too flat in his ribcage. Well angulated behind. Moved light on his feet. In a good coat with excellent curls.
Limit Dog (3,1)
1. Kahawei Sea The Stars JW
A very attractive liver male. Combines substance with quality. Very typical one-piece head with an attractive profile with a correct slight stop and a slight roman nose. Well set and carried ears. Long neck, well set. Very good forechest. Firm topline, well set tail. Enough angulation behind. In a brilliant coat with tight curls. Could do with some more flexion of his pastern. He moved well from the side and in front, tending to side track a bit, still not badly.
2. Ravenho Tallow Tango At Pattonia
Short coupled dog, masculine enough. He has a good skull, but too much stop and could do with a stronger muzzle. Enough neck. Very moderate angulation both ends. Strong and firm topline, capacious and deep in his chest. He falls away too much over his crop which limits his stride quite a lot. In a very good coat. Very friendly in his temperament.
Open Dog (9,1)
1. Sh. Ch. Rowancurl Gentle Gaelor
A well balanced dog with no exaggerations, with a very high degree of soundness that is rarely seen in the breed. He has a typical, masculine, unexaggerated one piece head with correct stop. Very good rise of neck. Balanced angulation both ends. Firm topline, well set and carried tail. Not quite yet in his prime, his body still has some developing to do. In a very good coat. He was with plenty in hand the best mover in the class, very easy on his foot and with very strong drive from the rear, clean coming and going. Indeed an exceptional mover. CC.
2. Sh.Ch. Infallibles Black Crusader At Kelsmere
Standing this dog truly filled my eye. Excellent type and proportions. He has typical well-shaped and proportioned, masculine head with excellent expression. Very well set ears. Excellent front with excellent forechest. Firm and strong in his topline. I would not want him any deeper in his chest. Well angulated behind, I would not want any more than this. He moved cleanly coming and going and reasonably well from the side as well. In an excellent coat. ResCC.
3. Norw. Ch. Skaringen’s Gaalileo Lii
Puppy Bitch (3,1)
1. Maycourt Island Girl For Breichside
At eight mons old, this bitch has come a long way. She is strong and well balanced, yet feminine. Typical head with good width of skull and very slight stop. Strong neck, well set. Very good front with a full forechest already. Firm topline, well set tail. Well angulated behind. In a good coat. Moved medium well from all angles.
2. Tessmene Chantilly Lace
At six months old, this bitch is still very puppyish, including in her head, but the frame is all there. Darkest of yes. Good ears. Strong neck. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. Firm topline. Pleasing coat quality. Mostly jumping around in movement, but in glimpses moved soundly coming and going.
Junior Bitch (2,1)
1. Foxriever Sea Fyre
A very attractive bitch, I liked her a lot. She is feminine, still strong and very well balanced with a lovely outline. Feminine, one-piece head , darkest of yes, very good ears. Long neck, well set. Very good forechest and return of upper arm. Deep and capacious for one so young. Excellent topline. Moderately angulated behind. She moved very well from the side, could stabilize with age, especially as seen from behind. excellent coat quality. Somewhat proud of her tail.
Post Graduate Bitch (4,2)
1. Foxriever Sea Fyre
2. Firecurl Ace
A liver coloured bitch, feminine. She has a very classical head, well proportioned and shaped and with dark eyes for her liver colour. Excellent ears. Good rise of neck and a pleasing forechest. Deep and capacious chest. Firm topline. She has a short croup that slopes off too much and could be more generous in her hindquarters. In a good coat, if somewhat dry. She moved somewhat bowlegged behind and could do with more extension.
Limit Bitch (5,3)
1. Gorchest’s Pendlecurl’s Rising Star at Pepperiever
A very nicely balanced bitch. Feminine and in the main well constructed. Typical head with a good skull, lovely eyes and expression. Excellent rise of neck with a nape. Enough forechest. Firm topline. Moderate angulation behind, could do with some more. Lovely coat. She falls off a bit much over the croup, still moved out well from the side, but narrow as viewed from behind.
2. Firecurl Georgie Porgie
A liver bitch with a lovely head, but rather overmentioned in her body. Dark eyes for her colour. Moderate neck. Strong topline, falls away too much over the croup and needs more angulation behind. Good coat. She moved with enthusiasm but with limited drive behind.
Open Bitch (5,1)
1. Norw.Dan.Ch. Skaringen’s First Impression
A spectacular bitch, she has a truly marvellous silhouette. Perfect balance, outline and proportions. Feminine head with good length. Well set ears. Excellent neck into shoulder. Perfect forechest and excellent return of upper arm. Strong and firm topline, excellent croup and tailset. Well angulated behind. In an excellent coat with ideal structure and curls. An outstanding mover from any angle in a breed that has not been spoiled by this. An outstanding representative of her breed and sex, indeed they do not come better than this. CC & BOB.
2. Sh.Ch. Molokain Hocus Pocus
Another attractive bitch, well balanced and well constructed and of excellent type and qaulity. At two years old, she has come a long way. Typical well shaped head with excellent expression. Moderate neck. Good return of upper arm and forechest. A little straight in her pastern. Typical strong topline. Well angulated behind. Another very positive mover from the side, if not as good going away. In a please coat. ResCC.
