Richmond Dog Show Society

Breed: Japanese Spitz

Japanese Spitz, Richmond 2025

I was impressed by the overall quality and type in the breed. More than a dozen dogs that certainly would be deserving champions and hardly a bad one among them. Thank you for the highlight of the week-end, and keep up the good work, breeders!

Veteran Dog (2)

Two excellent dogs, what a start to the judging!

1. Ch.Charney Tamotsu

A lovely representative of his breed and sex. Ideal proportions, just slightly longer than high. Beautiful head and expression from his well shaped dark eyes and his excellent ears. Correct stop. Lovely pigmentation. Well set neck with typical prominent withers. Short and strong loin. Excellent tail, well set and carried. Very good legs and feet. Lovely coat. He is a sound mover both ways and kept his shape and outline from the side. A beautiful and highly typical dog! CC and Best Veteran.

2. Ch. Glamglows Bowl Me Over At Miradas

Another excellent veteran. Masculine, slightly longer than the winner. Another with lovely pigmentation and expression. Medium neck. Well angulated both ends. Strong topline, well set tail. Pure white in his colour. Not as accurate coming and going as the winner, but moved very well from the side.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)

1. Mayumi’s Tsuyoshi

Attractive puppy, well proportioned at eight month old. Head still under development, but has all the essentials. Well shaped head. Excellent pigmentation. Could make better use of his ears, but they are well set and small. Medium neck. Excellent layback of upper arm. Well developed in his body. Firm topline. Well set tail. In a very good coat. He moved well coming and going, tending to lift his front legs more than ideal at this time, a results of just being puppyish.

Puppy Dog (1)

1. Soranohoshi Chiisai Kaiju

At almost twelve months old, this dog is very mature and looked like an adult. He is strong and masculine, still elegant, but does not need to grow on. Typical head, lovely pigmentation. Ears a little wide set. Very good neck and withers. Firm topline, well set and carried tail. Well developed in his body, being capacious and deep without sacrificing length of leg. He is a dynamic mover and very sound coming and going. In a full coat already. Excellent temperament.

Junior Dog (3,1)

1. Charney Mr Marvellous

Lovely young dog, very well balanced and proportioned and of outstanding type and quality. Excellent size. Typical, masculine head with correct stop. Excellent earset, lovely pigmentation. Dark, lovely eyes, the shape of a gingko nut. Excellent neck and withers. Strong topline, well set tail. Well angulated in front. Fully mature in his body. Outstanding coat. He is an extremely good mover from the side and from behind, more than reasonable from the front. He made a lovely pair with his more mature look-alike kennel mate. ResCC.

2. Daryl Bella Neve For Mayumi

Another really good dog, well balanced and proportioned. Another with an attractive head even if he could have some more strength of muzzle. Very good ears. Correctly shaped eyes, could be a little darker. Good neck into shoulder, firm topline, well set and carried tail. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. In a good coat, still not like the winner. Capable of moving very well when he concentrated on the task, he was rather playful and jumped around plenty.

Post Graduate Dog (1)

1. Kessaku No Diggity

At two years old, this dog still has quite a lot of maturing to do and needs to become somewhat more masculine. The same thing goes for his head. His size is within the standard. Lovely pigmentation and the darkest of eyes. Good ears. Medium neck, could do with more prominent withers. Firm topline. He needs more volume to his body, and more weight would help too. Good coat quality. Rather interested in what happens on the ground on the move, but quite stable as viewed from behind, needs to settle in front.

Limit Dog (1)

1. Charney Talk of the Town at Glamglow

A dog of excellent size and with excellent quality overall. He has a lovely head and expression from dark and well shaped eyes. Excellent ears. Strong neck. Balanced angulation both ends. Just enough length of leg. Firm topline, well set and carried tail. Very good coat structure. He is a well balanced, animated mover from the side, quite good coming and going too.

Open Dog (3)

1. Ch. Kessaku Bobby Dazzler

A dog with lovely type, shape and outline. He has a classical head with excellent pigmentation and plenty of mascara. Very good ears. Good rise of neck and typical withers. Short and compact body, well proportioned. Excellent tailset and tail carriage. Lovely coat, dense and white. He is a very good mover from the side, retaining his shape and balance. Not brilliant going away.

2. Mayumi’s Rough Diamond

Another very attractive dog of excellent type and quality, still not fully mature at two years old, but getting close. Attractive head with good ears and lovely pigmentation. Firm topline, well set and carried tail. A very good mover at his best, but not quite settled.

3. Kumotta Elite

Veteran Bitch (4)

1. Ch. Llwyni Sky’s The Limit JW

Instantly very attractive bitch, she has a lot of quality about her. Lovely head and excellent pigmentation. Excellent expression in spite of somewhat round eyes. Lovely ears. She used her neck to her advantage. Excellent topline and tailset. Brilliant coat and colour. Rather down in her pastern. Still moved very well around the ring and pleasing coming and going as well.

2. Charney Celestine

Another bitch with a lovely body shape and balance. She is well angulated and a really good mover. Rather large and prominent ears takes something away from her expression. Very good rise of neck, excellent topline and tailset. Very good coat. Another excellent mover, especially from the side, excelling in drive from behind.

3. Mayumi’s Too Hot To Handle

Minor Puppy Bitch (2)

1. Llwyni Fancy That

A truly lovely puppy, at seven months old, she is truly outstanding. Lovely head, eyes, ears and expression. Excellent pigmentation. Excellent neck which she used to her advantage. Short, firm topline, well set and carried tail. She can still grow half an inch on her legs. Outstanding coat and colour. She looked the part in movement, very animated, synchronized and balanced. Surely a future champion! Best Puppy

2. Sanyinko Barton’s Starlet

A much more rangy bitch who will need much more time to mature and balance. She is elegant, feminine, if somewhat leggy. Head needs to gain some more width all the way. Very good ears and pigmentation. Good rise of neck. Moderate, balanced angulation. Firm topline, good tailset. Moved light on her feet.

Puppy Bitch (3)

1. Tawvale Gatusei

Well made bitch, quite mature for her age. Typical, feminine head, excellent eyes, ears and pigmentation. Medium neck. Firm topline, well set and carried tail. Balanced angulation both ends. Lovely coat and colour. She moved well from the side and from behind, could stabilize quite a bit in front.

2. Tawvale Gensho with Charney

Another attractive bitch, well up on her legs. Her head is less mature and needs to gain some more width. Excellent ears. Long neck. Excellent topline. Well set and carried tail. Balanced angulation both ends. She was not in a good coat condition on the day and looked a bit rangy due to this. A good mover from all angles.

3. Sanyinko Barton’s Starlet

Junior Bitch (2,1)

1. Charney Going For Gold

A bitch of excellent size. Feminine and well balanced. At twelve months old, she has yet to reach her peek. Attractive feminine head with good skull and ears. Well shaped eyes, correct stop. Moderate neck. Very good forechest and layback of upper arm. Strong topline. Her coat is a bit in between stages. She moved well from the side and from the front, but her right hind leg could move more parallel.

Yearling Bitch (1)

1. Ch. Llwyni’s Magic Touch JW

A very beautiful bitch, just teeming with quality and type and very hard to fault seriously. She is so very well balanced and constructed. Lovely head and excellent pigmentation. Perfect ears. Well set neck and correct withers. Excellent angulation in front. Excellent topline and tailset. Balanced angulation behind. Lovely coat and colour, pure white and with a bright sparkling lining. An excellent mover from all angles. A super representative of her breed and sex. CC & BOB.

Post Graduate Bitch (3)

1. Mayumi’s Sweet Harmony

Well proportioned, feminine bitch. She has a very feminine head, I would prefer some more strength to it. Lovely pigmentation. Good neck. Firm topline, well set tail. She is losing her coat at the moment, but her body structure can handle it. A medium good mover from all angles.

2. Tawvale Fumika

Eye-catching bitch, but looking rather racy today due to her coat loss. Attractive head and expression. Lovely pigmentation. Good ears. Excellent rise of neck. Good front standing. Firm topline, if on the longer side. Well set tail. Well angulated behind. Another who moved only medium well, but she paraded in front.

3. Bellsperar Just Like Heaven

Limit Bitch (9)

The first two bitches stood out in this class.

1. Charney Calista

A very attractive bitch, feminine and of excellent size. She has an attractive, well shaped head with excellent pigmentation. Very good ears. Very good front, excellent forechest. Strong topline, well set tail, well carried. In a lovely coat, bright white. She moved very well from the side, very good from the front. Acceptable as seen from behind. She is certainly of champion quality.

2. Glamglow’s Blissful Kiss of Sakurai

In quite a few ways a similar bitch. Another with excellent size and type, delightfully feminine. Well shaped feminine head, expressive. Excellent ears. Moderate neck. Excellent topline and tailset. In a good coat. Another who moved well from the side and from the front, but not as good as viewed from behind and not quite as compact as the winner, yet another with champion quality.

3. Glamglow Dare To Be Wise For Bellsperar

Open Bitch (8)

1. Ch. Snowshoes Belle of the Ball

A very eye-catching bitch, in many ways very spectacular. She is not small, but definitely feminine. One you would either like a lot or not at all, and I am in the first category. Excellent head and expression from dark, almond shaped eyes. Very good ears, well set and used. Excellent rise of neck. Firm topline, well set and carried tail. In a very good coat. She is a sound and well balanced mover from all angles, and her handler got the very best out of her. She is of a different type than all her competitors, I would not want her any more “extreme” than this. ResCC.

2. Ch. Charney Fine Design at Tartiko

Well balanced bitch of excellent type and quality. A really good bitch with much to offer and hard to fault. Feminine. Excellent expression, very good ears. Moderate neck. Strong topline, well set and carried tail. Deep and capacious body. In a very good coat. A sound mover from all angles.

3. Ch. Charney Santa’s Cupid
