Finnish Spitz, Crufts 2025

I am sorry that this lovely breed is not progressing well. The number of entries are dramatically down from the good old days, and frankly the overall quality is not what it used to be either. I wish the breed fanciers well in their quest to keep the breed alive and well in the UK.

1. Ch. Enkelini Hopeinen Ukko

A strong, masculine dog, almost square and well proportioned and constructed, but I would not want any more of him. Typical masculine head, clean cut and evenly tapering. Excellent eyes and expression. Strong neck. Firm and straight topline. Short enough in his loin. Well set and carried tail, correctly pressed down to the middle part of his thigh. In a rich coat of bright red colour. With something in hand the best mover in the class and in the whole entry. CC & BOB

2. Valokki Virmalised

There is quite a lot to like about this dog, he is square and well up on his legs. Typical, well proportioned and masculine head and attractive expression. Strong and straight topline. Well set tail. He needs some more volume in his front and tends to turn his front feet out. Pleasing quality of coat, but I would prefer more of it as he was not in optimal coat condition on the day. Moved well from the side and from behind. ResCC.

At fifteen months old, this bitch has a lot of maturity to do and at this time looks somewhat scrawny. Quite pleasing feminine head. Could use her ears to better advantage. Excellent, well placed and shaped eyes. Quite good neck. Short brisket and far too much tuck-up of underline and her tail is rather too tightly curled. Not in a pleasing coat condition on the day. She is an active mover, but needs more coordination and tended to sidetrack coming and going.

Feminine bitch of very pleasing type and quality, if not fully mature at two years old. Typical temperament. Very pleasing, feminine head and expression. Good rise of neck. Firm topline, a little longer than square. Pleasing tailset, her tail could end a little further down on her thigh. In a reasonable coat. Moved OK from the side and as seen from the front, if rather bowlegged behind. ResCC

Feminine bitch of very pleasing size and square in her proportions, but I would prefer her somewhat leaner in her body. Attractive head and excellent ears which contributed positively to her expression. Strong neck. Well angulated in front. Firm topline, well set tail. Balanced angulation behind. In an excellent jacket of bright red colour. Moved with balance and coordination. CC
