Breed: Boston Terrier

Northern Boston Terrier Club 2025

A very well organized show and with particularly wonderful hospitality and most efficient ring stewards. Many thanks for a lovely week-end and not the least for the lovely judge’s gifts. I thought the quality was quite substantially improved from my last appointment for the breed in the UK, and it particularly encouraging to judge some very exciting youngsters coming up.

Veteran Dog (1)

1. Ch. Wildax Schubert

At eight years old, this dog is in his prime. He is strong and masculine, well proportioned and typically square. Very typical masculine head with a completely flat skull. Excellent stop and rise of brow. Square muscle with very good width, excellent bite. Expressive eyes, well placed. Good ears. Medium neck, strong, if a bit loaded over his shoulders. Moderate balanced angulation both ends. Would like shorter and better knuckled feet. Straight topline, correctly low set tail, making a pleasing silhouette. He moved well from the side and from behind, somewhat broad in front. Best Veteran.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)

1. Whiskyagogo Big Smile at Jayneze

A puppy with ideal proportions, definitely square. He has a very well developed, masculine head with a square flat skull and a very well developed square muzzle with wide jaws. Expressive eyes. Could do with some more open nostrils. Ears a work in development, one has arrived, the other one is nearly there. Strong neck. Excellent forechest and lay-back of upper arm. Quite good feet. At this time he tends to roach his back just a little and needs to relax in that department. Moderate, balanced angulation behind. Correctly low set tail. He moved very well indeed from the side, and from behind, still needs to stabilize as viewed from the front. Excellent coat and colour, including markings. Best Dog Puppy and BOS Puppy

Puppy Dog (2)

1. Yakee Murphy’s Rainbow

A well proportioned dog, at eleven months, he is square and masculine, if still not fully developed. Attractive head with a flat and square skull, square muzzle, well set and carried ears. Good with of muzzle, but could with more depth of underjaw. Moderate neck., well set. Moderate angulation both ends. I would prefer stronger pasterns. Pleasing topline, straight and with a correct low set tail. Good colour and coat. He moved quite soundly from all angles.

2. Ivyjewel The Wizard

An eye-catching dog with quality, more mature at eleven months old. He has typical masculine head with all the main features. Excellent eyes and width of muzzle. Strong neck, well set into an excellent shoulder. Already has plenty of forechest and he needs to stop there. Longer cast in his body and not as strong in his topline nor the tailset of the winner. Moderate angulation behind. Excellent coat and colour. He moved well from the side and from behind. Could settle in his elbows with maturity.

Junior (4)

1. Canmoy ‘s Boston Coco Pops at Wildax Rowendale

An impressive, well developed dog. He particularly appealed for his overall type and quality. He is strong and masculine without lumber. Much more developed than his competition. Very attractive head with a square and flat skull, excellent width of muzzle and jaw. Expressive eyes, dark and round. Strong neck, well set. Excellent forechest and return of upper arm, excellent legs and feet. Deep and capacious chest. Excellent topline and well set tail. Balanced angulation both ends. Excellent coat and colour. He impressed more on the stack than when moving, although synchronized, I would have liked more extension behind and he is still youthful in front movement. As he makes such an excellent picture standing, I will expect him to be difficult to beat when he gets his moving act together.

2. Valbrown’s Not For Sale

Smaller dog, masculine enough and well proportioned, square. Another with a well balanced head with a square skull and muzzle, but I would not want his muzzle any shorter than this. Expressive. Very good ears. Good rise of neck. Moderate angulation in front. Pleasing topline and tailset. Balanced angulation behind. Could do with a bit more bone. Strode out well from the side, another who could stabilise in front. Excellent coat, light brindle colour.

3. Valbrown’s Nothing Compares Two U Bosties

Yearling Dog (2)

1. Ever Single Verlaine The Poet at Glenauld

A very attractive dog with excellent balance and proportions. He has a typical head with a flat, square skull, excellent ears. Round large expressive eyes, excellent rise of brow. Broad muzzle. I would not want a bigger undershot than this. Strong neck. Moderate angulation both ends, well balanced. Firm topline. Deep and capacious body with an excellent length of brisket. Turned his front feet out slightly on the stack, but this was not evident on the move. Synchronized mover, at all times keeping his balance, if using a few more steps that needed. Excellent coat and colour.

2. Tigrato Maker’s Mark

Another well proportioned dog, square. Not as developed as the winner and not as confident. Another with an excellent square skull, and a square muzzle, expressive eyes. Moderate neck. Could do with more layback of both shoulder and upper arms. Very good topline. His tailset is moderately low. Normal hindquarters. Excellent coat and colour. Moved quite well from the side, less accurate in front. Well handled.

Graduate Dog (1)

1. Tigrato Lost Prophet

At twenty months old, this is a masculine dog, ultrashort in his body. Attractive head with excellent eyes and expression. Pleasing width and squareness of both skull and muzzle. Moderate neck and front angulation. Could do with more forechest. Firm topline. Well set tail, but rather acutely falling away over his croup. Would prefer a longer brisket. Excellent coat and colour. He tended to side track on the move and could stabilize in his front movement.

Post Graduate Dog (1)

1. Glenauld Texas Tom

An instantly attractive dog of very high general quality. He is only thirteen months old and with his best still to come, but he will for sure get there. Very attractive head with a flat square skull, expressive eye. Broad and square muzzle and jaw. Strong neck. Well set. Enough forechest for his age. Could do with some more return of his upper arm. Straight topline, correctly low set tail. Well angulated behind. Excellent coat and colour. Still not fully developed in his width of body. Moved very well indeed, especially from the side, but also from behind and stable enough in his front movement.

Limit Dog (3)

1. Kiarzo Side By Side

An instantly attractive, very eye-catching dog with star quality. In his prime at exactly two years old. He is well up on legs and has matching body length. Very attractive head with flat skull , square muzzle of ideal proportions. Well set and carried ears. Long and crested neck which made a significant difference and standing out in the entry for this trait. Firm and straight topline, well set tail. I would now want anu more angulation of his hindquarters than this. Lovely coat and colour. He moved very well indeed from behind, quite good in front. Synchronized from the side and with very good extension. Well handled to get the best out of him. Congratulations to his champion title today with the CC and BOS.

2. Rosparquier’s Late Edition

A dog which in several ways was quite similar to the winner in his outline. Another with an attractive head but could do with some more strength of underjaw. Strong neck, well set. Balanced angulation in front. Straight topline, well set tail. Modately angulated behind. In a very good coat and colour. He moved well from the side, and from behind, not as firm in his front.

3. Ivyjewel Put A Light On Me JW

Open Dog (4)

1. Multi Ch. Primo Cavaliere Goffredo at Havance

A very well balanced dog, not big, but definitely masculine. He has a very attractive head with flat and square skull, pleasing rise of brow. Excellent width of muzzle and open nostrils. Moderate neck. Good return of upper arm. Could be a little stronger in his pasterns. Correct topline, well set tail. Well angulated behind. He moved soundly and was parallel even if he is turning his front feet out a little on the stack. Well co-ordinated from the side. Excellent coat and colour. A great showman and very much in sync with his handler. ResCC.

2. Ch. Wildax The Real Thing

Strong and masculine dog of excellent type. Another with a flat and square skull, a bit more pronounced in his cheeks. Not quite the expression of the winner. Long and strong neck, excellent forechest. Deep and capacious body. Firm topline, a bit sloping, his tailset is OK. Well angulated behind, I would not want any more than this. Another purposeful and well co-ordinated mover, striding out very well from the side. In an excellent coat. He impressed in movement over his standing picture.

3. Jayneze Hubber Bubber

Veteran Bitch (3,1)

1. Ch.Int.Ch. Wildax Endless Love VW

At eight your old, this bitch has kept her youthful appearance and her shape. She has a feminine head with an excellent square skull, lovely expression, excellent ears. Enough width of foreface if not her forte. Strong neck, well set. Moderate angulation in front. Deep and capacious chest without exaggeration. Excellent topline and tailset. Moderate, balanced angulation behind. Could be a bit stronger in her pasterns, but still moved parallel coming and going, keeping her outline and balance from the ide.

2. Ch. Image Catcher of Ziost

Another very attractive eight year old bitch. Her great character is coming through, very animated and alive. Another with a typical head, if larger ears. Strong neck, well set. A little giving away in her topline at this time and her tailset and tail carriage in not her fortune. However she compensates by being an animated, energetic and sound mover from all angles. Well handled.

Minor Puppy Bitch (3)

1. Canmoy ‘s Boston April Fool with Sirfon

A bitch that is difficult to take your eyes off. She is just six months old and quite puppyish, but has a lovely aura of quality about her that is hard to resist. Has a very good foundation for a lovely, feminine head, even if she has some way to go yet. Excellent ears and expression. Very short, compact body with an excellent topline and tailset. Well angulated both ends. Deep and capacious chest for her age. At times she moved very well from the side and from behind, but at other times she refused to move at all. Lovely coat and colour. Well presented.

2. Wildax Liver Bird

Another very attractive bitch puppy, well balanced. At this time she needs to settle into her front angulation. Attractive head if still very puppyish and showing more white in her eye than I prefer. Excellent rise of neck. Excellent topline, level and with a good fall away toward the stern. Balanced angulation behind. She moved very well indeed for one so young. When settling int other front angulation, I expect a very good future for this one.

3. Wildax Voodoo Queen

Puppy Bitch (2)

Two very nice bitch who could change places under different circumstances.

1. Ivyjewel Cast A Spell

Very attractive elegant bitch., well up on legs and with matching body length. She has a typical head with a square and flat skull, ears on the lager side. She made very good use of her neck both standing and moving. Good forechest for age. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. Firm topline, when she relaxed it was straight, well set tail. Lovely coat and colour. Well handled. The deciding factor in the end was how she used her neck on the move, giving herself the edge in style and carriage. Sound coming and going and striding out well from the side. Best Puppy.

2. Demorace Born Free

Very attractive bitch, square and well developed for her age. She has a lovely head and expression, excellent ears. Strong neck, well set. Well angulated both ends. Excellent topline and tailset. Her underline was somewhat spoiled by her false pregnancy of the day. But she both stood and moved very well, if not with the same carriage of the winner.

Junior Bitches (5,1)

The first two bitches, both just 12 months old, stood out not only in this class, but in the whole entry

1. WIldax Rowendale Krispy Kreme

Simply lovely bitch, a work of art, she has it all. The balance, the proportions, the ideal combination of being elegant and feminine with substance and power. Lovely head with excellent square muzzle and skull. Lovely expression from dark, round and well placed eyes. Excellent ears. She made very good use of her neck, especially on the stack. Excellent topline, her tail is set low enough. Balanced angulation both ends. She moved very well indeed, especially as viewed from the side and from behind, still showing some youthfulness from the front. A top class bitch by any definition or standard. Congratulations on making her up a champion at just 12 months old with CC & BIS

2. WIldax Sophistication

Another very attractive bitch indeed, most unlucky to meet the winner already in her class. She is well up on legs and typically square in her proportions. Another with a flat and square skull, correct stop. Pleasing width of muzzle. Not quite the expression of the winner nor as adorable in head. Long neck which she used to her advantage. Moderate angulation in front, quite generous behind. Strong topline, well set tail. Another very good mover, from all angles, scoring in front movement over the winner. Very well handled. I was impressed, if not really surprised, to learn that she is also already a champion at just 12 months old. ResCC and resBIS.

3. Olearia Westfalen Real Deal

Yearling Bitch (3)

1. Olearia Westfalen Real Gold

An attractive bitch with one leg in each corner, very soundly constructed and by far the best mover in the this class. She has come a long way for her one year old. Very attractive head, well proportioned with a broad and square skull and muzzle. Expressive. Well set ears on the larger side. Strong neck, well set into a very good front. Straight topline, well set tail. Strong hindquarters, I would not want them any longer than this. She moved with strong drive and excellent purpose from the side, can still perfect her coming and going. Excellent coat, I would not prefer any more white than this.

2. Aprika Graceland

Wel proportioned bitch, well up on legs and square. Typical head with flat and square skull. Well set ears. Very pleasing expression. Quite a good front. Deep cand capacious chest. Firm topline, but falling away too much over the croup and did not extend with her hindquarters on the move. Lovely coat. Excellent temperament.

3. Tigrato Black Eagle

Novice Bitch (3,1)

1. Aprika Graceland

2. Boston Abbey Honeyfor Petarris

Three year old bitch, very feminine and short coupled. Pleasing skull, very short nose and could do with sounder breathing. Strong neck. Very moderate forechest and front angulation. Deep chest, if somewhat short in brisket. Balanced angulation behind. Moved reasonably well from the side, but could improve both coming and going.

Graduate Bitch (2)

1. Tigrato Wilderness Glen

Feminine bitch, very short coupled to make a square. Lovely head and expression, with a high brow, flat skull and good width of muzzle. Moderate neck. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. I would not want her any shorter in body than this, but it did not stop her from striding out very well indeed from the side. Could perfect her coming and going. Very good coat and colour.

2. Wildax She’s A Show Girl

Feminine, quite elegant bitch, longer cast than the winner. Quite a pleasing head with a square and flat skull. Pleasing rise of neck. Still needs to develop in forechest and in volume in front. Firm topline, acceptable tail. Moderate angulation behind. Energetic mover, but with a tendency to prance. Lovely coat and colour.

Post Graduate Bitch (1)

1. Follow Your Dreams Torques at Ziost

A very strong bitch, not as elegant as I would like and her excess weight did not help. She is correctly square in her proportions. Typical square skull, could do with less cheeks and some more width of muzzle. Strong neck. Rich forechest. Deep and capacious chest. Well angulated behind. She moved below average well from all angles. Excellent coat and good colour, but I would not want any more on her body.

Limit Bitch (5)

1. Kiarzo I See Stars

Feminine bitch, very square and compact, still with elegance. Feminine head with a flat and square skull, enough width of muzzle. Round, dark eyes. Strong neck which could be a little longer. Well angulated both ends. Deep and capacious chest. Strong and straight topline, well set tail. She moved soundly from all angles with very good coordination.

2. Ivyjewel Let Me Love You

Eye-caching bitch who made the best of herself in movement from the side. Attractive feminine head with lovely expression from her dark, expressive eyes. Could be a bit stronger in her topline. Would like more angulation behind, but it did not stop her from moving very well from the side and from behind as well.

3. Glenauld Call Me Bubbles

Open Bitch (6)

1. Ch. Kenxtwen Beauty Bluebell at Ivyjewel

A mature bitch, strong, still feminine. Square in her proportions. She has a typical square skull. Open, dark, round eyes and good width of muzzle. Still not quite the head type I am looking for. Strong neck, well set. Rich forechest. Deep and capacious chest. Straight topline, correctly low set tail. Strong hindquarters. She was with something in hand the best mover in this class with very good drive from behind, giving an athletic and sound impression.

2. Olleyville Hears Dolly

I liked this bitch for her type and outline and proportions, decidedly square. Typical head with excellent square skull. Large, round and dark expressive eyes. Good width of muzzle. Strong neck with an attractive mate. Modately angulated both ends. Excellent topline and tailset. I would have liked to see more drive from the rear, but she moved cleanly coming and going.

3. Ch. Wildax Shut That Door
