Breed: Retriever (Golden)

Midland Golden Retriever Club – 7th December 2025

Firstly, thanks must go the committee of the Midland Golden Retriever Club for their invitation to judge bitches at their annual show. It is a show that holds many happy memories for me over the years and it was an honour to be judging. Secondly ,thank you to the exhibitors that entered their beautiful girls under me, I had some difficult decisions to make and on another day decisions could be different.

VETERAN BITCH (7, 1)

1st Monteverde’s SH CH/INT CH OLVINGLAY HALLELUJAH

Outstanding 7 year old girl, beautiful head and expression, excellent reach of neck well, placed shoulders, everything flows, good depth of body excellent spring of rib, level topline with correct tail set, good width of stifle, presented in excellent coat and hard condition, lovely bone and neat feel, moves with reach and drive. Pushed exceptionally hard in the final challenge and delighted to award her the Res CC, BVB and with my co-judges agreement BVIS.

2nd Hush’s BENROWAN ESPRIT

A girl I have always liked and still do in her later years, soft head and expression, good reach of neck well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm, just lost out on overall balance of the winner today. Still covers the ground with reach and drive. Tight at elbow and presented in excellent coat and condition.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (10,2)

1st Campion’s FENPINQUE ROYAL GLOW

Beautiful soft head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment, won this class on overall balance but especially front construction. Excellent reach of neck, and good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest, excellent bone and neat cat like feet. Well sprung ribs and good width of stifle. Would just have like a little more animation on the move but this should come as her confident grows could not be denied this class on overall confirmation. One with a bright future.

2nd Lewis’ ZENEVIEVA MILLION DOLLARS FOR FAIRWINDS (AI) (IKC)

Head needs time to develop but still feminine, good reach of neck but not the flow into shoulders and topline of the winner. Good depth of chest, well sprung ribs and short coupled. Good width of stifle, level topline on the stack and correct tail set, needs time to come together on the move.

PUPPY BITCH (13, 4)

1st Vernon’s GRACELEIGH HOOCHIE COOCHIE

Beautiful soft head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment. Good reach of neck, won this class on well developed front. Good depth of chest, adequate bone with neat feet. Good spring of rib and short coupled, level topline with good width of stifle. Presented in good coat and condition and covered the ground with ease. Overall a very balanced picture and one with a bright future. BPB.

2nd Mandley’s MALTQUDOS VANITY FAYRE

Very similar attributes apply to this girl just preferred the length of leg an and fore chest of winner. Clean reach of neck with well placed shoulders and moderate return of upper arm. Good spring of rib and well developed body, slightly longer in loin than winner. Covered ground well but not holding topline as well on the move as on the stack but this should improve as she matures.

JUNIOR BITCH (13, 3)

1st List’s HAYDENGOLD LATEST GOSSIP JW

One I have often admired from the ringside and she did not disappoint today. Pretty head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment. Excellent reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and tight elbows. Well sprung rib. Spirit level topline which she held on the move. Good with of stifle with well muscled rear quarters. Very balance both standing and moving.

2nd Rains’ LILLIESLEA PRINCESS ELSA WITH GUNHILLS

Larger framed girl but everything in proportion. Feminine head and expression. Excellent reach of neck with good bone and neat feet. Would prefer slightly more return of upper arm to balance with rear. Good spring of rib, slightly longer cast than winner. Good width of stifle presented in excellent coat and hard condition.
