West Of England Ladies Kennel Society
I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge the veteran groups and Best Veteran in Show. The quality across the days was high and I was very pleased with my final line up. I awarded Best Veteran in Show to the exquisite Gordon Setter Sh Ch Flaxheath Top Model at Glenmaurangi, and Reserve Best In Show to the Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) Multi Ch Aurorus Lunaris Ex Valhalos Sargas.
Utility Veteran Group
Group 1 - Ch Buffrey Incognito by Dalleaf JW VW Swiss Vch, Mrs S A & Miss S Neath-Coyne & Baker, Dalmatian, quality male who presented a nice shape on the stack with correct body proportions, this boy came into his own once he went into the main ring, demonstrating a smooth powerful sound movement with reach and drive.
Group 2 - Ch Eastonite Maui JW ShCM OSW, Miss O Timms, French Bulldog, masculine with correct head and dark eye, bat ears of medium size and correct body proportions, he has free flowing movement displaying soundness.
Group 3 - Timazinti's Peppermint at Frenchlands JW ShCM ShCEx VW, Mr E J, Mrs E J & Miss L Schuckardt, Lhasa Apso, a lovely gold and white male. presented a nice shape on the stand. Correct head proportions, balanced angulation front and rear, level topline, correct set tail, and moved true.
Group 4 - Snoanda Wizadora, Mrs L & Mr T Bateman, Tibetan Terrier, medium size, good head and proportions, balanced angulation, level topline, tail set fairly high, correct coat texture, moved well.
Terrier Veteran Group
Group 1 - Ch Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill JW OSW, Mrs J A Curtis, Skye Terrier, loved the big ring, feminine bitch, good height to length balance, effortless on the move.
Group 2 - Ch/am/can Ch Silkcroft Freeze Frame JW Jww18 Bel Jch, Mr C W & Mrs C L Satherley, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, medium sized male, good head with profuse furnishings over the eyes, moderate angulation, level topline, he loved being in the big ring displaying her long strides.
Group 3 - Ch Miteymidgets Going Global JW ShCM VW, Mrs Y Bannister, Bedlington Terrier, beautiful, graceful bitch, good head with narrow skull covered with profuse silky top knot, filbert shaped ear set on low, long neck, natural arch over loin, low set tail, light and springy movement.
Group 4 - Ch Ravenside Marsha at Jordith JW, Mrs L M I & Mr A M Jordan-Smith, Border Terrier, feminine bitch with a beautiful head, she is moderately broad in skull with a short muzzle, of moderate length, coat of correct harsh texture, displayed lovely movement in both profile and front and back.
Gundog Veteran Group
Group 1 - Sh Ch Flaxheath Top Model at Glenmaurangi, Mrs A & Ms T Phillips & Watkins, Gordon Setter, what a bitch, from the top drawer, she epitomises the breed standard, beautiful head and correct body proportions, she came a light on the move, displaying that free and true movement, with plenty of drive behind, she just made me smile.
Group 2 - Stocksfell Chase The Ace, Mrs A J Wybergh, Pointer, symmetrical in outline, good head and proportions, balanced angulation front and rear, tail carried level with the back, another who came alive on the move covered the ground.
Group 3 - Allenies Tampa Bay D'orta for Darrabol, Mr I J & Mrs B A Ganney Retriever (Labrador), strongly built bitch, good head with broad skull, balanced angulation front and rear, short coupled, free on the move covering adequate ground.
Group 4 - Sh Ch Alanea Game Reserve with Danwish, Miss T Gardner, Irish Red and White Setter, completed this lovely line up of veteran gundogs, this male has good head and body proportions, strong body with deep chest, he displays a long free stride on the move.
Pastoral Veteran Group
Group 1 - Multi Ch Aurorus Lunaris Ex Valhalos Sargas, Mrs J Xu, Welsh Corgi (Pembroke), was very taken with this male, he certainly makes your look at him. He is low set, displaying that active and alert appearance, his head is foxy in shape with good proportions, intelligent expression, medium sized pricked ears, good length of neck, balanced angulation front and rear, on the move he displays that typical free and active movement.
Group 2 - Ch Lisjovia Adagio avec Montmusique JW OSW, Mr C & Mrs K Goodwin, Pyrenean Mountain Dog, lovely bitch of great size, she is well balanced all through and has that noble appearance, she has a strong head forming that blunt ‘v’ shape, presented a lovely shape overall on the stack with correct body proportions, moved true and free.
Group 3 - Ch Mohnesee Sweet Dreams JW, Mrs K E Hateley, Shetland Sheepdog, quality feminine bitch, small in size with that alert and gentle characteristic. Symmetrical in outline, she has a lovely head with no exaggerations, small ears correct placed, correct body proportions, smooth and graceful on the move.
Group 4 - Ch Scalbeck Sophistication at Menander, Mrs B & Mrs C Cope & Kemp, Bearded Collie, if there was a dog I could have took home it was her, I really fell for her, she has a feminine head with broad skull, balanced head proportion, good length of neck into well laid back shoulder, balanced angulation, deep chest, tail set on low, covered the ground on the move with a smooth and long reaching action.
Working Veteran Group
Group 1 - Goodsouls Rumour Has It It's Falkor, Mr A & Mrs J M Ellis, German Pinscher, she has great head shape with good parallel planes and muscled cheeks, she is compact in body with well spring ribs, well muscled, she excels on the move where she is well balanced and moves with reach and drive.
Group 2 - Hightimbers Travel Tickets, Mr M & Mrs S D Hemsworth, Hovawart, feminine bitch with correct body proportions, free from exaggeration, she has a clean head with moderately broad skull, medium length of neck into well laid shoulder, balanced angulation, moved effortlessly with reach and drive.
Group 3 - Ch Callowdale Easy Street, Mr T D & Mrs C M Lowes, Tibetan Mastiff, lovely outline on this bitch, feminine with good head and expression, balanced, arched neck, level topline, compact feet, tail carried over her back, powerful free mover.
Group 4 - Ch Stoneglad Jumpin Jack Flash at Verosa JW ShCM ShCEx VW, Miss L & Mr B Marshall & Tankard, Bullmastiff, male of powerful build, skull large and square, short muzzle, dark eye, good length of neck into well laid shoulder, deep chest, true on the move.
Toy Veteran Group
Group 1 - Ch Arte Figure Next Level at Casacavallo JW (Imp Fin), Mrs D Crow, Chinese Crested, masculine head with slightly rounded skull, alert expression, ears large and erect, good reach of neck, legs set well under the body, moderate tuck up, rump well rounded, stifles long and firm, moved with long strides showing reach and drive.
Group 2 - Ch Witchstone Not Apache On Me for Peopleton VW, Mr J & Miss W Francis & Blatchford, English Toy Terrier (Black and Tan), male with alert temperament, good wedge-shaped head, correct shaped ears, slightly arched long neck, compact in body, low set tail, true on the move.
Group 3 - Int/bel/nld Ch Cotonkiss Heaven Help Us Nlw’23, Mrs C Clarke, Coton De Tulear, male, longer in length than height, correct head proportions and expression, black eye rims, moderate length of neck, well boned, topline slightly rises, moderate angulation, free and smooth mover.
Group 4 - Ch Swifthocks Paws for Thought JW, Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green, Japanese Chin, head fairly large in proportion to size, dark eyes set far apart, small ears high on head, square and compactly built body, high set tail, true on the move.
Hound Veteran Group
Group 1 - Ch Crosscop Let It Shine for Supeta JW OSW, Miss F & Mrs L & Mr G Spademan & Morris & Waddell, Whippet, I just took to this bitch the moment her handler put her on the table, she presents a beautiful picture both on the stack and on the move and has everything in the right place. Feminine all through with beautiful s curves and balanced angulation, she moves with reach and drive and is true on the down and back.
Group 2 - Ch Zandahar Tartan Xplorer JW, Mr M & Mrs L Anderson, Afghan Hound, this balanced shaded black mask gold boy took full advantage of being in a big ring, masculine head with dark triangular shaped eye complete with chiselling, good balanced angulation front and rear, moved soundly using his angulation to his advantage.
Group 3 - Ch Tarmachan Black Ice Ww18, Mrs F, Mr M & Miss A Buchanan, Maclaren & O’day, Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand), quality bitch who is well made all through with correct head and body proportions, she has good balanced angulation fore and aft which she used to advantage on the move.
Group 4 - Ch Skyswift Moonlite Serenade, Mrs M & Miss R Howlett, Greyhound, my RCC winner from earlier in the day, the long wait and hot day did not make any difference to this bitch. She presents a beautiful picture on the stack with curves in all the right places.
