LEONBERGER

I was pleased with the nice entry of 55. Leonbergers are a wonderful breed with their handsome looks and lovely temperaments. This was my fifth CC appointment in the breed. I last judged Leos at LKA in 2019. This time there was quite a lot of variation in type, size and shape. I was a little worried to see so many gay tails, which rather spoil the outline. Very pleased to see some promising young exports both from Norway and my native Finland. My thrill of the day was to find my CC winners in Limit, a litter brother and sister of excellent quality yet to come to their best. I will watch their careers with interest. Thank you for an enjoyable morning with the breed.

1ST Expressive Bizu Grande Leonis (Imp Pol) (Mrs C Lear-Schofield), nine month old masculine puppy of excellent size. Very nice type, good head with medium brown eye. Correct mouth. A little short in neck and needs better angulation in front. Stands a little east-west in front at this stage. Very good bone and well bodied for age. Needs to drop in hindquarters. Very good colour and mask. Moved well in profile.

1ST Skjaergaardens Dance Monkey Dance (Imp Nor) (Mr A P & Mrs P A Simmonds), 14 month old masculine male of excellent size and type, but rather out of coat. Head promises well, good eye and expression. Quality bone. His front assembly needs time, but he has an excellent neck, body and rear. Moved very well in profile. Good colour and mask.

2ND Debbollinby Time Lord by Lionsridge (Mrs B Bodle), 17 month old very lively young male of very good type. Just needs to firm up. Quality head. Medium bone. Good feet. Well bodied and has a good rear. Moved well in profile. Needs more time for development.

2ND Kalizmar The Hitch Hiker (Miss C & Mrs A Burrell), 18 month old male of excellent type, but just a little short in proportions. On the small side, but strong. Good head with kind expression. Very good bone. Strong body. Moves well, but is rather proud of his tail at this stage. Very good colour and mask.

1ST Lunahai Like A Hurricane for Reveraki (Miss H Jackson), almost two year old dog of very nice type, but who I would like to firm up. Strong, masculine head of very good shape and very good expression. Good bone, but a little down on pasterns. His front lets him down, but having said that he is otherwise shapely. Needs better handling. Moved well in profile. Correct colour and mask.

2ND Cookie Bombs Leo from The Old Oaks to Berglowe JW (Imp Deu) (Mrs J & Mr L Moulsdale), just over two year old dog. Not in full coat, but well conditioned. He has a rather plain head with minimal stop. Medium eye. Good neck. Rather narrow in front. Good body, but needs a stronger rear. High tail carriage on the move.

1ST Simden Broadway Your Song (Mrs C A Germain), two year old very beautiful and typical male of excellent size. He promises very well for the future. So well made and carried himself to great advantage. Beautiful male head, eye and expression. He is very well made all through with a very good front, body and rear. Excellent bone and neat feet. Impressive on the move. Very well handled. Very good colour and mask. A beautiful young Leonberger of the highest order. A pleasure to find a dog of his calibre. CC and Best of Breed

2ND Lionsridge Lord of The Rings (Mrs B Bodle), four year old masculine male of very good type, but could carry himself to better advantage. Pleasing, correct male head, medium brown eye. Good neck, body and rear. Moved well in profile, but a little close going away. Correct dark overlay in his coat.

 2ND Ch Alfross Romabo Harper (C E & J Lear-Schofield & Schofield), four year old male of excellent size and very nice type. Beautiful male head, eye just a little open. Quality bone. Well bodied, but a little long in loin. Good rear. Moved well in profile. Correct dark overlay in his coat.

1ST Ch Alfross Kapuko Haruki (C E & J Lear-Schofield & Schofield), eight year old veteran male of wonderful type. Just a little plump on the day, but super size and presence. Excellent masculine head with kind expression. Quality bone and neat feet. Good neck, strong body and very good rear. A little heavy on the move and tended to be a little light-footed on his left front leg at times. His type is excellent. Best Veteran

2ND Ch Leosrus We Will Remember for Kalizmar (Mr L Studholme), nine year old medium sized masculine veteran dog shown in pleasing condition. Good head, eye and expression. A little narrow in front and would prefer better feet. Good body and rear. Moved well for age.

2ND Lunahai Straight No Chaser (Miss K & Mr L Arthur & Oliver), one year old masculine young male, who needs better angulation fore and aft to give him better proportions. Nice head. At this stage rather short stepping in movement. Good colour and mask.

1ST Bavaruki Cilantro (Mrs J A Jones), seven months old bitch puppy of nice shape and type. She needs to be handled to better advantage, especially on the move. Strong girl, still carrying a little extra puppy weight. Pretty feminine head. Medium rear angulation. Practice makes perfect!

2ND Jomiriclus Sensational (Ms D Temple-Scott), also seven months old, feminine puppy with good typical frame. Head head needs to develop as it is very narrow at this stage. Narrow underjaw and her mouth needs watching. Good bone. Needs more time for development.

Pleasing head, eye could be a tad darker. Excellent bone and feet. Good body and very nice strong rear. Good colour and mask.

2ND Prideofelsa Amber Heart at Leoflaed (Miss R E Bennett), 17 month old junior bitch of excellent size and nice type. A little long cast. Beautiful feminine head. Medium bone. Good body, but a little long in loin. Very good rear. Moves well, but tail too gay on the move.

1ST Kinglords Miss Selene at Alfross (Imp Fin) (C E & J Lear-Schofield & Schofield), two year old medium sized, strong very pleasing feminine bitch. Beautiful head and expression. Correct bone. Well bodied. Very good rear. Moved very well in profile, just a little close going away.

 2ND Leonmoor Mabel of Reveraki (Miss H Jackson), almost four year old tall bitch shown a tad plump. Very good skull, but needs stronger muzzle. Medium bone. Rear angulation a little modest. Moved well. Correct colour and mask.

Beautiful feminine head, eye and expression. Super bone and good feet. Strong, well made body and excellent rear. Correct colour and mask. Happy to find such a beautiful specimen in the entry. CC – I was later told she is full sister to my CC winning male and they made a lovely pair. Congratulations!

Would benefit from slightly better handling, but her type is just wonderful. Won a well deserved res.CC
