Breed: Large Munsterlander

SKC – Large Munsterlanders

A huge thank you to SKC for asking me to judge. This was my 4th time giving CCs

in the breed. Numerically the entry wasn’t huge today, but there was lots of

quality. I was impressed with the front and rear angulation in my main winners,

and something that should be thought about by breeders. Today like always, I

was looking for an alert and energetic HPR with good movement and drive.

Movement should be effortless, with purpose, so going forward and dogs should

look like they could ‘go all day’. Many exhibits lacked that correct free long

striding gait.

A huge thank you to exhibitors for accommodating a student judge and my

hugely effective stewards who kept the ring moving smoothly.

Junior Dog (2,2)

1. Murdoch’s Almonrigg One in a Million. Head lovely, nice big squishy nose.

Good body and ribbing. Overall a nice shape and profile movement. Still

needs to tidy away and back movement. Good coat. Was less settled in

challenge with other males.

2. Fairbairn’s Jaudas Paper Plane. Very raw male and at his first show.

Once settled over a few classes moved much better. Needs to continue

ringcraft classes to show full potential and learn when to use his voice

and how to move in a ring. Head ok, needs time to body up, good ribbing.

Good angulation front and back. Lovely temperament and very happy.

Post Graduate (3,3)

1. Day & Robinson Tarkanya Ritas Reinheart at Alfriston. Lovely head with

good expression. Good body and depth. Best front and rear angulation of

the class, but could be better. Good tail set and overall a nice outline

with breed type. True away and back, with good length of stride. ResCC

2. Uherkovichova Ulys Du Pic Des Berlanches avec Exelby. Nice head. Ok

front angulation, lacking in rear angulations and width. Good body and

depth. Lovely coat and breed type.

3. Fairbairn’s Jaudas Paper Plane

Limit (3,3)

1. Logie & Braidwood’s Graf Iii vom Busshof at Albadhu. Nice head and

lovely neck. Good front and rear angulation. Lovely overall picture and

kept this on the move. True away and back. Good tight feet. Still young

and maturing to do along with firming topline. Super breed type and

lovely overall balance. Couldn’t be denied Dog CC and Best of Breed.

2. Weber’s Caesar Ii Svatoborský Revír (Imp Cze). Another lovely balanced

male with lots of potential. Super head and lovely squishy nose. Good

width throughout and excellent muscle tone. Not quite the angulation of

1. Moved away and back true, kept an excellent topline. Considered for

ResCC.

1. Fairbairn’s Jaudas Paper Plane

Open (2,1)

1. Webb’s Albadhu Counting Stars. Good breed type and overall balance.

Well developed body, good depth and nice shape. Balanced angulation.

Moved ok all round.

2. w/d

Veteran

1. Powell & Murrell’s Sh Ch Crumpsbrook Woodrush. Good overall picture,

well balanced. Moved true away and back. Just lacked a little purpose

and drive for me. Nice head, good substance and kept topline well on the

move. BVIB

Puppy Bitch (1,1)

1. Evans’ Tarkanya Ritas Raspberry. Lovely young lady, still with lots of

maturing to do. Good neck and front/rear angulation. Lovely head with

intelligent expression. Good forechest for age, depth should come, good

ribbing. True away and back. Lots of promise.

Junior Bitch (3,0)

Post Grad (2,2)

1. Weber’s Dita Z Miketova Dvora (Imp Cze) A real honest young lady with

clean lines. Kept a lovely shape on the move, and where best to judge her.

Doesn’t always do herself justice on the stack. True away and back and

free flowing in profile. Good topline, depth and overall body. Loved her

shape and type and gentle nature. Delighted to award her ResCC.

2. Robins’ Tarkanya Ritas Ruby with Destanli. Loved this young ladies type,

just not as neat coming as 1. Super long stride in profile movement. Good

shape and balance. Lovely body and shown in super condition.

Limit (3,3)

1. Evans’ Tarkanya Sophies Sunflower. A girl I’ve judged before and it was

lovely to see how she’s matured. The best of heads, dark eyes, squishy

nose and lovely expression. Correct front and rear angulation. Good

depth and width throughout. Lovely shape and super breed type- a

working gundog with nothing exaggerated. Excellent profile movement

with rear drive and front extension. Could be slightly tidier coming, true

away. Shown in lovely condition and oozes breed type and style.

Delighted to award her the CC.

2. 2 Bisset’s Albadhu Written in The Stars. Good overall balance and shape.

Lovely angulation back and front. Good topline and true away and back.

Just not the rear drive of 1.

3. Powell & Murrell’s Tureagh Crystal Cider.

Open (4,2)

1. Logie & Braidwood Sh Ch Albadhu Final Encounter. Sound overall profile

and lovely type. Head good with lovely neck. Balanced front and rear

angulation. Coat coming in. In challenge lacked the hard condition of CC

and ResCC winners.

2. Logie & Braidwood Sh Ch Albadhu Pawsitive Vibes JW. Balanced girl, just

not angulation of 1. Good head and ok neck. Lovely tight feet and strong

pasterns. Good depth and muscle tone.
