Welsh Kennel Club

Breed: Irish Wolfhound

Firstly I would like to thank the committee of the Welsh Kennel Club for inviting me to judge, and my hard working stewards. I would also like to thank everyone who entered under me and hope they enjoyed their day as much as I did. I appreciate that some had travelled quite a distance. There were a few mouths with very tight canines and dirty teeth, and I found some hounds whose front constructions were narrow and upright. However, generally the standard was good and I was particularly impressed with my CC and RCC winners, who all showed the breed type and soundness on the move that I was looking for.”

PD ( 2,1 ) 1 Mrs I Bonwick - Austonley Nutrimental. 11 ½ month old rangy boy. Loved his head, with its correct proportions, but found his underjaw rather narrow. Front construction was reasonable, with tight feet. Well-ribbed and really liked his strong loin and well-muscled thighs. Moved steadily for a large hound at that gangly stage.

JD ( 1,0 ) Mrs D Tebbutt - Fidelio Della Bassa Pavese. Impressive youngster with strong head and correct bite. Good bone and muscle, well laid shoulder with a good length to upper arm, deep rib cage, correct topline with a clearly defined arch over the loin which he kept on the move. Well angulated stifles and strong second thigh. Not the happiest with his surroundings today so did not move out as well as I expected.

PGD ( 3,1) 1 Mr A Dunwell - Glengail Ccillian. Well-grown masculine hound with beautiful dark pigmentation and dark eyes. Strong bone with good muscle. Well-ribbed, but would prefer a little more angulation to upper arm.Moved soundly, but would like to see hm fully engage his well muscled rear and show a little more drive.

2 Mrs M.L Severn-Kumar-Gaelmarque Quintus.Houndy outline with balanced angulation. Lighter framed and not the topline of 1st.Pleaseing head and expression. Long, strong neck, set well into shoulder. Long back and good width to pelvis, easy ground covering stride

LD (4,1) 1 Miss E Pantoja - Killoughery Rockafella Of Outsight. Loved his head with dark eye and pleasing expression, correct bite and rose ears. Arched neck set into sloping shoulders, good bone and very good feet. Correct arch over the loin and lovely hindleg angulations. Beautifully presented in excellent condition. Moved well, but not with the energy and drive of my CC and RCC winners.

2 Mrs K Gregory - Killoughery Touchstone. Masculine head with correct bite, arched neck into reasonable shoulders, deep chest and correct top line Moved out with a good stride , but not quite the curves of 1st.

3 Mrs M L Severn-Kumar - Gaelmarque Nomateus

OD(4,1) 1 Mrs D Tebbutt - Ch Caredig Mafioso. The standard calls for size, strength, symmetry and commanding appearance and this boy certainly ticked all boxes. Excellent bone, well muscled and in tip top condition. Masculine head with strong crested neck going into well laid shoulders, correct topline and well angulated hindquarters, moved with power and strength. CC, BOB and HG1

2 Mrs T Sumner - Dukesarum Murphy. Another outstanding male of quality. Masculine head, strong neck and a well laid shoulder. Deep well ribbed chest and correct topline. Strong hindquarters, with a powerful movement that covered the ground with ease. At 2 1/2 this boy has not yet reached his peak. RCC

3 Mrs A White - Whitglen The Real Thing.

V.B (2,0 ) 1 Mrs C Stirling - Clanlilly Diamond Dust. Feminine head with kind and gentle expression. Well-angulated front and rear giving a balanced outlook. Good harsh coat, moved well round the ring and true coming and going. BV

2 Mrs E and Mr P Catlow - Hydebeck Dream Of Lorelei At Laoiseach. Beautiful head with kind expression. Fair shoulder and well angulated hindquarters, would benefit from a fresh jacket, Moved very soundly, but preferred the balance and proportions of 1st.

MPB (1,0 ) 1 Mrs K Sharratt - Windseeker Harmony (can imp). Quality baby of just 8 months with the most beautiful head, dark eye and rose ears. Long neck leading into a well laid shoulder and upper arm, deep chest, topline has a clearly defined arch over loin. Being stripped of her puppy coat truly showed off her "big greyhound" shape with very good bone and substance. Moved quite well round the ring considering her long legs. BP

PB (1,0 ) 1 Mrs K Gregory & Mrs N Warwick - Cairnstorm Legacy. Feminine head in good proportion with kind expression. Liked her length of neck leading to a reasonable shoulder, well sprung ribs and enough angulation to rear considering her growth stage. Very well muscled for her age and used this to her advantage on the move.

PGB (4,1) 1 Mrs P Ashby - Ashgroave Betty Mae. The dark pigmentation really showed this girls head off to its full advantage, correct proportions, rose ears, perfect dentition ,strong neck leading into one of the best fronts of the day. Super bone and plenty of substance, powerful well angulated hindquarters that powered her round the ring showing reach and drive, pushed hard for the CC, but carrying a little too much weight at present and was out of coat. RCC

2 Mrs T Sumner - Dukesarum Evie. Another quality bitch, loved her head and kind eye, correct dentition and dark pigmentation. Balanced angulation front and rear, kept her shape on the move and beautifully handled and presented.

3. Ms Jean Timmins Lean Do Chrol Elizagh Bertha Cornovi

LB (5,0) 1 Mr S Bradley - Glengail Aarcus. Beautifully constructed and balanced front and rear, plenty of bone and substance with nothing exaggerated, moved sound and true in all directions keeping her shape throughout. Shown in excellent coat and condition. CC

2 Mrs T Sumner - Dukesarum Tallulah. Another classy bitch, correct head with elegant neck, not quite the front of 1, but she has powerful, well-muscled hindquarters which she fully engaged on the move. Shown in excellent condition.

3 Mrs L Salamon - Fritza Della Passa Parvese

Res Mrs E and Mr P Catlow - Hydebeck Ring Of Roses

VHC Mrs Carol Stirling Rysheron's American Hope For Clanlilly.
