Glen Of Imaal Terrier Association

Breed: Glen Of Imaal Terrier

Many thanks to the GOITA committee for their kind invitation to judge this show. The hospitality and welcome were first class. My stewards Liz and Jenny kept things moving and a good atmosphere prevailed. A good entry with only 2 absentees. It was not an easy task and judgements were very much “on the day”. Some exhibits that I had previously admired were not on top form and others seemed to rise to the occasion. I was delighted with my CC winners.

Dogs

Puppy (1)

1 George’s Tommy Beau at Romainville

Well grown and well bodied 7 month wheaten. Broad head with round eyes, Well laid shoulders. He has good ribs for his age. Plenty of rear angulation. He moved well especially when viewed from behind. Best Puppy, should have a bright future.

Junior (2)

Tricky decision between two litter brothers. There were positives for both but in the end, I plumped for the extra width in front of the winner.

1 Saletti’s Jojase Blarney Magic Blue

Coming along nicely since I last saw him. He has a well-proportioned head with good ear placement. Correct in front. He has good width to his chest and short couplings. There is good width across his quarters. He moved steadily carry his tail well.

2 Hardy’s Jojase Brogan Midnight Blue with Amhard

No mistaking the similarities with the winner. He has a breadth to his skull and is strong in jaw. Well muscled neck of decent length leads to sloping shoulders. He too has good length of rib and is strong over his quarters. Hocks are nicely let down.

 Post Grad (2)

1 Jojase Brogan Midnight Blue at Amhard

This one was more settled here and moved much more soundly, showing reach and drive.

2 Hannington’s Boudivella Love Story

Just out of junior. I have admired this boy previously. He has a good head with width of skull, dark eyes and correct length of muzzle. He is well boned and has good width of body. I just felt that, with a bigger frame, he needs a little more time to fill out and complete a balanced picture. I am sure he will go on to do well.

Limit (3)

1 George’s Romainville Mikkee Blue

This blue boy is good to go over and was presented in hard muscular condition. Balanced in head with broad skull and strong jaw. He has a correct stop and round dark brown eyes. Strong neck of good length leads to well boned front with the desired slightly bowed legs. He was in good body and firm in top line. Good width to his thighs and hocks are well let down. He moved straight and true here and in the challenge to be awarded the RCC.

2 Fraser’s Amhard Runrig

This 4-year-old has taken time to come together but is now starting to look the part. He has a correctly proportioned head with correct ear placement, good stop and strong jaws. He is balanced in body with both width and depth to his chest. Firm rising top line leads to correctly set tail. He moved well in profile showing reach and extension.

3 Hardy’s Amhard Tornado

Open (5, 1abs)

1 Int Ch Overijse Wildest Dream

I admired this boy from the ringside at Crufts and really appreciated the opportunity to assess him today. He is so good to go over. Not over done or exaggerated in any way. At 3 is approaching his best. He has a balanced outline that can only be described as “Glen”. Strong head of good width. He has a good stop and dark round eyes and an alert expression. Well-muscled neck leads to well angulated shoulders and chest of good width. Well boned with a slight bow to his legs. His ribs are deep enough and of correct width and good length leading to firm loins and rising top line. He has good width to his quarters and well-muscled thighs. He moved so well and true. In good coat with both harsh texture yet still maintaining a soft undercoat. A pleasure to award him the CC, his second and Best In Show. His title must surely follow.

2 Pryce’s Ch Cenaubach I Do

Just 18 months and a worthy title holder who has so much to admire. He has a good head with plenty of width to the back skull, strong jaws and dark round eyes. He has a good length of neck, well laid shoulders and correct front construction with beautiful compact feet. His ribs are of good length and decent depth which will only improve as he matures. Strong couplings and well angulated quarters. He moved straight and true. A little soft in coat today but that will soon remedy.

3 Kirkwood’s Cazcade Can’t Catch Me

Bitches

Junior (2)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Dottie

A very promising 9 month old. She has a lovely head, feminine yet still broad enough and alert expression and well placed ears which she used well. Correct in front with good width of chest. She is well developed behind with plenty of width to her thighs and hocks are well let down. A bit inconsistent on the move as yet but what would you expect from a Glen puppy?? It will be interesting to watch her develop.

2 Saletti’s Jojase Bridie True Blue

Pretty 16 month blue with lovely round eyes of dark brown. She has a good length of muzzle. Firm in top line and correct set on of tail. She was not cooperating on the move today and lacked the reach and extension of the winner.

Post grad (5)

1 Forbes’ Boudivella Higher Love with Karensbrae

Balanced 18 month old wheaten, feminine but still possessing enough substance. Well-proportioned head with good stop, Dark in eye. She has small ears carried correctly. Muscular neck of good length, correct front assembly with well laid shoulders. Deep in chest, she is firm over the loins and has a good rising top line. Quarters are well angulated with well bent stifles and hocks are well let down. She moved steady and true. Considered her for top honours but felt that she just lacked a little width and maturity. I am sure this will come and she will gain her title.

2 Saletti’s Jojase Aisling Pixie

One I have not seen for a while and the break has done her good. Now 4 years, she is mature and well bodied. Correct head proportions with width to her skull and length to her muzzle. She is strong in neck and has good width and depth to her ribs. She moved freely holding her top line correctly and showing plenty of rear extension.

3 Whitehouse’s Amhard Tiger Lily

Limit (2,1)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Fire Cracker

Compact type with plenty of substance. She has good width to her head and a good stop with dark round eyes and an alert expression. Well bodied with ample width and depth. She has well angulated quarters. Hocks are well let down. Showed a really happy disposition here.

Open (4)

1 Kirkwood’s Cazcade Betty Boop

I have judged this blue girl before but felt that she was so much better today. Maturing well and producing a picture of balance and substance. She has a good head with dark brown eyes of the correct round shape. Strong in neck, she has plenty of bone for her size. Well ribbed with enough width and plenty of depth. She is strong over the loins and well-muscled behind. In good coat and body. She moved soundly and steadily to win this class and go on to the RCC.

2 Pryce’s Cazcade and So It Begins

Mature 5 year old wheaten. Lovely head with small ears and round eyes. Strong neck and good layback of shoulder. She has a firm gently rising top line and has plenty of width over her quarters. Moving straight and true, covering the ring easily.

3 Hannington’s Mo Stor Ailin of Tatlers Jacks Clann at Boudevella

Veteran (2)

1 Forbes’ Ch Jeonty Dreams a Dream with Karensbrae

Now 8 years old and still in her prime. She is in super coat and condition and looked the part today. She manages to combine strength substance with femininity and charm. Well-proportioned head with good bite and round dark eyes. She has a good neck and enough width to her front. She has good length to her ribs and firm short couplings. Her quarters are well muscled and show plenty of angulation. Moved well at the correct speed to show reach and drive. My pleasure to add another CC to her collection followed by RBIS and Best Veteran.

2 Saletti’s Bendikes Fidelma

Now 10 years old and in good body. She has a correct head with strong neck. Good dentition for her age. Well ribbed through showing plenty of depth to her body. She has good width to her thighs. Looked well on the table but lacked animation on the move.
