Home Counties Cocker Spaniel Club Championship Show
15 February 2025
I had been really looking forward to this wonderful appointment for some time, so I must thank the Committee for inviting me, and particularly Elaine Thomas for all her dedication and hard work to make sure everything ran smoothly in the lead up to – and at – the show. I was afforded a really excellent entry of quality cockers, and there were many hard decisions to be made on the day, such was the depth in quality. My stewards were excellent, and the atmosphere around the ring was great with lots of applause for the winners. Thank you to everyone for making this a very memorable day indeed.

Well grown baby and quite together for her age, she is well bodied with good strong ribbing and level topline. Has good angles front and rear, with well developed quarters. Stands on great feet. Moved out with style, should have a bright future.
2nd Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev (Collings)
Very pretty baby, raw and unassuming at present with lots of maturing to do of course. Feminine in outlook all through, with good angulation and balance. Will do well, good luck.
Special Puppy Bitch
1st Deracor Diamond Glow (Shapland)
Well made black with good body and ribbing, and happy outgoing attitude. Pretty head of good shape, dark clean eyes and kind expression. Tends to look a little bit tense stacked up at the moment, as she is just learning what it’s all about, but settles nicely on the move and goes so well.
2nd Whinburn Northern Lights Over Wensum (Ward)
Another promising youngster who was in great coat and condition. A little stronger in head than 1, and with a nice dark eye. Stands on lovely feet and stacks up to give a typical outline. Moved out with verve and good drive from behind.
Special Graduate Bitch
1st Totenkopf Dutch Double Deuce (Crawford)
This is a very pretty headed young lady with feminine outlook and super expression. Has balance in angulation fore and aft which shows in her steady true movement with good drive from the rear. Just at the stage where she’s carrying a little extra weight over the shoulder.
2nd Laurellakes Heaven Sent With Tilumi (Hayes)
Very merry and outgoing temperament on this young lady who is lovely to go over. Strong in topline and well ribbed back, her tail is well set and used. Not quite as finished in head as 1 at the moment.
Special Open Bitch
1st Sheigra Super Special JW VW (West)
8yo black who is at full maturity and really looks the part. Scores in balance of foreface and skull, with dark expressive eyes. Well laid shoulder and good ribbing. She uses herself so well on the move producing a sound action with accurate foot placement away and back.

Well developed orange roan who has a mature outlook and sensible demeanour. Good head shape and eye colour, well set ears, strong in neck and topline. Straight well boned limbs and stands on excellent feet. Well ribbed back to her moderate quarters with well muscled thighs. Moved away and back very tidily and holds her topline so well at all times.
2nd Machunt Caledonian Girl (Macdonald)

Stood out in this class for overall type and balance. Great quality all through from her lovely feminine head to her well set tail. Balanced in construction, she has moderation at each end giving superb static and kinetic balance. Presented in first class order with lovely coat and well toned muscles. Will trouble the best in the future.
2nd Cassom Dancing Queen At Regaltav (Tavernor)
This b is lovely to go over as she is put together with soundness and strength, and everything in balance. Appealed in head, shoulder placement, topline, and quarters. Was a bit naughty on the move but I saw enough to give her this place – with a bit more schooling she will do very well.

Real little smasher of great type and excellent construction. Feminine head with dark expressive eyes and well set ears. Very well handled to get the best from her and close up for further honours today.

3rd Kerriglow Honesty JW (Davies)
Minor Puppy Bitch
1st Spindlesway Heart And Soul (Walker)
This naughty young baby needs a bit of schooling, and her handler needs to work better with her, but I couldn’t resist her overall make and shape – and charmingly naughty character! She is feminine all through, outgoing, confident, and has great type and sound momvement when she settles. One for the future!

Ribbed up well she is compact in body, and presented in first class order with well developed first and second thighs. Moves out with great ground cover and super attitude. Considered for top honours today, the best is yet to come for this youngster.
2nd Regaltav Valentine To Shenjela (Cowles)
Very pretty headed young lady with expressive eyes and well set low ears. Stacks up very well with balance in angulation and strength in topline. Went with a touch of uncertainty which caused her to lower and lengthen – time and experience will help this, as she has potential.

Handled superbly to extol her qualities.
2nd Pearkim Pompadora Dargess (Darby)
Another nice type and close up to the winner really, however this young lady wasn’t quite so good in her tail carriage today. Another with a lovely head, balanced angulation, great body, and super width of thigh. Presented very well.

Cobby shape and the best outline in this class, coupled with the best action on the move. Has strength in head and lovely dark eye. Reachy neck, well placed shoulders, and strong topline with well set on tail. Deep in brisket and well ribbed. Stands on excellent feet. Using every inch of herself, she moves out so well with great verve and sound action. BSpBIS.

Another lovely sort with a very nice head. Good type all through – balanced and with no exaggerations. Very fit and moving out well.
3rd Corralet Opera Dunherl (Duncan)
Post Graduate Bitch
1st Glowhill Chiquitita (Mitchell)
Merry, sturdy and sporting. Everything about this young lady appeals. Her outline is so typical – balanced, unexaggerated, compact. She has a beautiful well moulded head with dark expressive eyes and low set ears. Her well laid shoulders give rise to a strong neck which leads cleanly into a firm level topline. Has good depth of brisket with enough width, and a very well spring ribcage. Has width to her short loin, and well angled and superbly muscled quarters. Stands on the best of feet. Her static balance and classic outline draws you in, and then she moves where it all comes to life. She has soundness, great kinetic balance, and true merry action with great use of her tail. Both her and her handler appear rather unassuming, but she couldn’t be overlooked today. Delighted to award her the BCC, and ultimately RBIS with the agreement of my co-judge. Good luck in gaining her title, I’m sure it won’t be difficult!
2nd Stobytill Bootylicious (Hutson)
A quality sort with lots of type – scores in outline and great to go over on the table with everything fitting together very well indeed. Stands on excellent feet, and has a good front assembly. Just not quite so together on the move today as I would have expected.
3rd Wissane Dear Darlin (Brothwell)
Mid Limit Bitch
1st Lujesa Laurellakes Angel Whisper (Kettle)
Super typical black with good head and kind expression. Clean muscled neck, strong topline, and firm loin. Well ribbed with good depth and balance of leg length. OPEN BITCH

Smashing b presented in first class order, she is full of character and life and cannot be overlooked. Her overall shape and balance and so correct and so sound. She has a well laid shoulder and good return, depth and width to brisket, and strength in loin. Good with to quarters with well let down hocks and stands on excellent feet. She is presented so well, and in excellent condition with well toned musculature all through. A very merry mover indeed, she truly comes alive on the move which set her away from the rest today to claim the RBCC. She was later BVIS with the agreement of my co-judge.
2nd Sheigra Simply A Star JW OSW Shcex (West)
Tidy, typical outline and a pretty head. She is well made fore and aft, however just tends to push into her forehand a bit when stood which spoils her outline. Moved out with good drive from the quarters.
3rd Plaigen Sunshine With Fengrange (RANDALL)
David R. Alcorn (Lourdace/Gunalt)
