Ireland Rottweiler Club Championship Show

September 2025
Many thanks
to the NIRC for offering me my first championship show appointment. I was
absolutely over the moon to accept and thoroughly enjoyed my day. A massive
thank you to the committee for running such a well-organised show and creating
a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I’m also tremendously grateful for my lovely
present which I will treasure.
To the
Chairman, Mr John Bond, a heartfelt thank you for being my partner’s and my
chauffeur and for making us feel so welcome it truly meant a lot. Mrs Karen
Gilliland, thank you for your communication and hard work behind the scenes to
ensure the show went ahead.
Another huge
thank you goes to my fabulous steward, Mr. Cunningham. You made the day so
enjoyable, and I really appreciated your help and gift.
Thank you so
much to everyone who entered under me and to those who made the journey with
their dogs. I am truly grateful and thoroughly enjoyed going over each and
every one of them, there were some lovely examples of the breed. You should all
be very proud of your dogs. I don’t think any of them put a foot wrong, and all
showed their best for you.
There were
no overly concerning issues with the dogs present on the day, just a few with
slightly rounder eyes and a couple with smaller ears. Overall, it is mostly
front construction that is lacking.
Lastly, I would like to thank
my partner and family for helping me get to the appointment and pushing and
encouraging me.

Yearling Dog (1)
1st Marshalls’ Stairvale Harris – 18 month
excitable male with a charming temperament. Presented in very good condition,
with correct and evenly developed muscle tone for his age. He has good bone
with lovely compact feet that he stood straight on. Handsome head with correct
medium well set ears laying close to cheek, he has a few folds at present which
hopefully will fill when his head matures that bit more. Stop well developed
with correct dark brown almond shaped eyes. Nice length of neck. Front
extension is a little restricted on the move as he is a little steep in upper
arm. Topline is good in profile when stood. Rib cage is well sprung and has a nice
depth with pleasing undercarriage, loin is strong, croup of good width and
slightly sloping. Correct tail set. Rear angles are moderate with a good width
to first thigh, and with pleasing bend to stifle and strong second thigh and
hocks these allow him to drive well on the move.

A lovely class to go over and assess with some strong males
that the owners should be proud to take home. The young male in the class did
really well, and I feel that if the owner is offered help and guided as to the
correct class for him then he should do well.
1st Egerton & Sutcliffe’s Bereyda The Real
Defender – This male to me is the embodiment of what a male Rottweiler is, just
short of 3 years old he is a good natured and self-assured male. Handsome but
strong head, broad in skull with correct ears fitting close to well boned and
muscled cheeks. When attentive moderate wrinkle is formed on skull, well defined
stop, broad strong muzzle, and lovely black nose with large open nostrils. Flews
are black and firm without any excess. Head is finished off with medium
correctly shaped almond shaped eye, dark brown in colour. Head is carried by a strong
and muscular neck and blends nicely onto a good front; to be picky I would like
a touch more lay of shoulder to match with his well-angled upper arm but the
front he has he uses well which shows on the move with a nice reach and lovely
straight movement when moving to. Muscular forelegs with slightly sloped
pasterns. Good width of chest, well sprung ribs and good depth of brisket. A
touch long in body, but with a strong level topline leading to well-developed broad
and slightly sloping croup with a well-set tail which he carried correct at all
times. He has a lovely undercarriage. Hindquarters are well angled with good
bend to stifle and strong hock. Very good condition throughout with lovely
muscle development. Standing on strong compact feet and finished off with a
lovely coloured tan. Movement is very pleasing on the eye where he moves with
ease, he shows that he would be able to work all day. Pleased to award him CC
and followed up with BIS show as I loved his clean movement which he displayed
in all directions.
2nd Morkute’s IR/ LT/ INT CH Leon Is Rojaus
Slenio (IMP LT) JCH JCW 23 CW 24/ 25 – 3 year old and another well-presented
male, in good condition, and complimented with rich tan markings. Pleasing but
plainer type of head, personally I would prefer more but I can see its’ virtues
and it is in keep with his overall size. Dark eye, ears a touch smaller but
still fitting close to cheek which are well defined. Gives a self-assured
demeanour and very intent towards his handler, who got the best out of him in the
smaller ring. Strong neck that leads to a balanced front, he would benefit from
more angle as this can been seen in profile and when coming to in movement. Topline
is nice and firm in stance, and ribcage is well developed. Rear angles are lovely,
muscular development is evident and even, due to his first and second thigh
being of correct proportions with a correct turn of stifle. Stands on lovely
compact feet. I love the energy and character of this male; just wish he had
that little bit better front to give him a more fluent movement. I did consider
him for the RCC as I felt that he deserved the chance to challenge for it.
3rd Beggs’ Magglynn Von Omega
Res. Brown’s Steigen Ginger Johnson
Veteran Dog (1,1 abs)
Champion Dog (3,1abs)
1st Greener’s CH Rhodilea Celtic Warrior - 4
year old medium sized male with nice substance and condition, with nice
colouring and good markings and set off with a very pleasing head. Smaller ears
but they do sit close to cheek which are well filled, lovely dark almond shaped
eyes. Nose black with large nostrils. Nice length of neck onto a balanced front
with a quite good lay of shoulder and equally nice angled upper arm, elbows
close to body, stands straight in front with good angle to pasterns. I would prefer
a slightly firmer topline, however has a good underline with nice development
of ribcage and correct depth of brisket. Hindquarters are well angled, with a slightly
more rounded croup than I would prefer which shows on the move at times. Lovely temperament a definite cheeky chappy
that gives his handler a run for her money but she manages him well. He is
complimented with gorgeous compact feet which finish off this handsome male,
pleased to award him RCC.
2nd Morkute’s IRL/ LT/ INT CH Grand Is Rojaus
Slenio JCH CW 23/24 CEN CH W – 6 year male with a fabulous showy attitude very
attentive to his handler. Head of good size, rounder eye and not as much fill
in cheek doesn’t quite give the expression that I would like, ears well set.
Rear is well angulated with strength evident in first thigh, front assembly
isn’t as well angled, which is seen in movement as he hasn’t the reach to match
his powerful drive. Neck is strong, mature in body with good depth but slightly
rounded ribcage, just a tad long. Good tail with correct set, and is used so
well as it never stops wagging, showing what a super nature he is. Presented in
nice condition with lovely rich tan markings throughout.
Minor Puppy Bitch (1)
1st Morkute’s Trinity Aus Der Wildnis – 7 month
old female with a lovely outline and a darling temperament which I could have
quite easily taken her home. Good substance and correct weight for her age,
slightly lighter in tan than I prefer but has good markings. Lovely head with
correct proportions, nice ear carriage which sit well to cheek, good filling
and complimented with a dark eye. Nice length of neck leading onto an evenly
balanced front where she has a good lay of shoulder this is met with a nice
return of upper arm, elbows are close, she stands straight on compact feet.
Nice topline with a slight bounce on the move but to be expected of one at this
age. Pleasing croup, with good tailset. Hindquarters are proportioned well,
with good first thigh, and nice length of second thigh. At present when stood she
is a little straight in stifle but she doesn’t show this when moving as she uses
what she has well on the move. At times in movement, she was a little too
exuberant which broke her stride and made her look uncoordinated, but at her
age this can be forgiven, when settled sound in all directions. BPB and BPIS, definitely
one to watch as she should do well in her show career.

Junior Bitch (1)
1st Orr’s Tikaram Brown Sugar – just over a year
old, a nice sized bitch with an outline which is pleasing to the eye. Nice
substance and weight, however seems a bit loose in body still which is to be
expected as she has not matured yet. Well proportion head, dark eyes and
pleasing stop, would like a little more fill to enhance her expression. Nice
length and strength to neck which leads onto a good lay of shoulder at present
as still developing but she has a tendency to stand a little 10 to 2 at times
in front. Brisket of good depth, strengthening topline. Short croup with a nice
tail set and carriage. Rear angles are well balanced, good width to first thing
with bend of stifle to a strong second thigh, strong hocks which she uses well with
nice drive. Considered for RCC but just missed out due to her maturity, but
definitely one to watch.
Special Yearling Bitch (0)
Graduate Bitch (0)
Post Graduate Bitch (0)
Limit Bitch (3,1abs)
1st Lamberts’ Seittor Cast A Spell JW – around 2
½ year old with a very showy attitude, smaller type of bitch but compact and
solid. Lovely head piece, nice broad skull with correct ear set and carriage,
lovely almond shape dark brown eyes. Nice fill to cheek with correct tan and
correct substance for her size, strength in muzzle, nose with large open
nostrils. Nice neck, with well laid shoulder with a good upper arm her
angulation allows pleasing reach on the move. Strong topline, broad croup, rib
cage is well sprung with a pleasing undercarriage, correct tail with a nice
set. Hindquarters are balanced and gives her good drive on the move, where she
was so fluent. Lovely attitude and temperament, pleased to award her BCC, BOS
and RBIS.
2nd Hislop’s Olearia Queen of Clubs – 3 year old
bitch, bigger in size than first and in lovely condition. Head of good shape
but rounder eyes, correct ears, defined stop, nice length and shape of neck.
Balanced in front angles but a little more angle would benefit her. Mature in
body, a little too much tuck up detracts her undercarriage. Hindquarters are balanced,
similar to front a little more angle would benefit her, however, due to being
balanced within herself she moves well and uses all she has. She has nice
substance and finished with compact feet. Brought back into challenge for RCC
as I felt she was a worthy contender and deserved a chance.
Open Bitch (4, 2abs)
1st Lambert’s Seittor Voodoo Spell JW – litter
sister to winner of limit and again another lovely bitch, a touch bigger than
her sister but still very feminine. Lovely head piece, nice size ears which sit
well to a nice shaped cheek. Good tan and markings, in lovely condition and
nice substance. Calmer character than her sister but still has a good character.
Correct neck set on a good lay of shoulder with a nicely balanced return of
upper arm, elbows fit nicely to body with a good depth of brisket. Good spring
of rib and strong coupling make a strong topline and pleasing undercarriage.
Correct tail set, equally balanced in rear angulation. Moves as expected with
her balanced angles. Finished off with lovely compact feet. Happy to award her
RCC behind her sister just losing out on fluidity in movement on the day when
in comparison. On another day I am sure these top honours could be reversed.
2nd Orr’s Rottsworth Ice Maiden – 7 ½ year old
who does not know her age, nor does she show it, such a great get up and go
attitude and fabulous temperament. A more substantial bitch but compact with
lovely rich tan and in good condition. Nice type of head with well-set ears and
dark eyes although slightly rounder, nicely moulded cheeks. Nice neck, a little
restricted in reach due to higher lay of shoulder and steeper upper arm. Her
rear angles are well angulated with great muscle tone which allow her to drive through
with power. Strong well sprung rib with good depth. A really nice bitch to go
over and very pleasing on the eye whilst stood in profile.
