What a wonderful opportunity & honour to be asked to judge Smooth’s at Crufts, my thanks to our Crufts committee for my invitation & to everyone who made the day unforgettable. Thank you for such a wonderful entry, both numerically & in quality. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with you all & with a variety that I have a deep affection for. To my stewards Paul Hayes & Paula Meacham, thank you for all your help & for adding to the enjoyment of my appointment. I had some very good Smooth’s throughout the classes & some tough decisions had to be made, as usual I make notes on each individual dog as this reflects the performance they give at that moment in time, not on past wins, but there & then. The ring at Crufts can certainly give you a clear picture of a dogs movement, it’s large, flat & gives everyone (not just the judge) a clear picture of a dogs true performance. The overall picture in profile showing correct reach in front & follow through from behind together with a natural head carriage is more important to me than an individual being slightly untidy coming & going, after all breed type is paramount & a Smooth has nothing to hide which makes watching this variety all the more exciting. I wanted a stallion male without being course & an ultra feminine girl, I found several that ticked these boxes here. My first Smooth CC appointment was at The Houndshow in 1998 & I have had the opportunity of judging the variety at this level many times, over the years I have seen many changes, without doubt temperaments have improved with plenty of tail wagging here for the correct reasons, size has remained quite uniform over the years & hind quarters have certainly improved, better length of second thigh & stronger parallel hocks in many more which was pleasing to see. No tails with kinks in today & fewer wrinkles on the forelegs. One point that did surprise me was Pigmentation on some Reds, something I had not seen before in this variety, I had several that had liver noses, a light stripe in the centre of their nose & even very light (nearly pink) eye rims. Surely this must be the combination of Red & Chocolate breeding?. With the majority of my winners being Black & Tan, this tells me there are plenty of good specimens in this variety to rule out any pigmentation problems, something that needs nipping in the bud now, before it gets out of hand. Finally it was wonderful to hear the ringside applause & exhibitors congratulating each other when classes where placed. I really felt quite humbled to be offered this amazing opportunity & would like to thank each & everyone of you who helped make this whole experience so special

1ST 3331 - Ch Carpaccio Jasper from Hamoura ShCM VW (Mrs W Starkey), what a wonderful male to start the day with, coming up to 14 years he is without doubt in fantastic condition & loving every minute in the ring. Very good head & noble expression, dark almond shaped eyes, well arched neck, very good forehand with plenty of width & depth, very good ribbing which extends well back into good strong loins, firm backline & good underline with just the right amount of ground clearance. It’s hard to believe how sound he actually is, being so precise still coming & going, in profile he has a natural carriage & retains everything that is good about him. He set the stamp for the day & thoroughly deserved his place in the challenge where he still showed his heart out, a real credit to his owner

603. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Puppy Dog

1ST 3314 - Clentry Cooking Up A Storm (L Mcnaughton), 9 month Red/brindle that still has plenty of maturing to do but for his age I felt everything was in the right place & rightly so just needs to build on what he has. Stunning head & expression, super dark points throughout, the darkest of almond shaped eyes, well defined arched neck, plenty of forechest & width throughout, ribbing is well developed for his age & extends well back, short strong loins leading into super hindquarters which are strong & have plenty of length in second thigh. Tail is a clear continuation of his spine & his hocks are strong & parallel. For one so young he was quite sound coming & going with plenty of width & no sign of weakness. In profile once he got in his stride he clearly demonstrated correct reach & follow through from behind whilst retaining an elegant, natural carriage. I found his overall proportions ideal, certainly free from any exaggeration & without any doubt he will have an exciting summer, my BP & one that I will continue to follow with interest

2ND 3340 - Wanderhund for My Next Trick (Mr B & Mrs V Wand), 8 month B/T that certainly is classical in type & very handsome. I loved his head & expression, correct ratios from muzzle to skull, strong jaws, well arched neck that he uses so well on the move to project himself. Shoulders are well placed & well muscled, plenty of forechest but not the width of 1, has the most fabulous feet, well bunched & certainly gave the impression he could do his job!. Firm topline, more ground clearance throughout than 1, short strong loins leading into well made quarters. Out & back he was sound enough for his age & in profile he covered the ground with ease clearly loving every minute, in gleaming condition throughout

3RD 3327 - Wanderhund Grand Illusion (Mrs K L Sandell), 8 month Red who scores for overall breed type, another with a beautiful head & dark points throughout, shade longer throughout that 1 & 2 & has more ground clearance. A little more developing to do but his overall make & shape gained him his place. Long neck which he uses well on the move too, long ribbing & good strong loins, enough angulation, he really uses what he has, certainly one worth persevering with & presented in wonderful gleaming condition

1ST 3306 - The Hinks Dream Speed of Sound at Lochlip (Mrs L A Kay), Very elegant 17 month B/T, very good head & expression, strong underjaw, ears correctly set & of the desired length (for me), long & strong well arched neck, good shoulders on the most super legs & feet, good forechest that sits in the crook neatly, very good ribbing on a solid topline, loins are short & well muscled, for me he excels in hind quarters & has the strongest parallel hocks. His movement out & back was ultra precise & in profile he can certainly open his gait whilst retaining a balanced outline which he shows off with great style. A touch too much ground clearance for me but you can see the benefits of more length of leg at times & they showed here in this big ring, Coat & condition exceptional

2ND 3288 - Daxanory Menacing Awesome (Miss K J Heels), 17 month Red, totally different in type than 1, much longer & lower to ground. Very good masculine head & expression with dark points throughout, very strong neck leading into good shoulders. No denying his width throughout & has plenty of forehand on the strongest of bone & feet. His ribbing is deep, well sprung & extends well back, loved his quarters which where strong, hammy & with very good angulation. Plenty of width in movement that was clear to see coming & going & in profile he retained all that was good about him, just not covering the ground as freely or in the same style as 1 today. His muscular condition & presentation was faultless

1ST 3336 - Milendo Justin Thyme (J Vaitekunaite), 4 year B/T that really had everything I was looking for in a Smooth Male. Above anything else his type & construction meet the breed standard & totally fills my interpretation of what I look for. Loved his head & expression, good strong jaws, correct ratios, long well arched neck that lead into copy book shoulders, correct angles & length of upper arm. His front construction shouts Dachshund, prominent breastbone that fits so perfectly just like an egg in an egg cup, with his keel extending well past his forelegs. Super bone & the tightest digging feet, he has no exaggeration in height to length ratios, ribbing is well sprung & extends well back, correct gradual underline, short thick loins with his tail being a clear continuation of his spine. His quarters are strong & has enough in angulation & on the move he clearly uses what he has with ease. Short neat, strong & parallel hocks completed the table examination where my hands just flowed going over him. Once he hit the floor everything he did was natural, not rushed & with ease. Bang on coming & going but his profile action & overall picture was what clinched everything, not strung up, no running, moved at his own pace clearly demonstrating the correct reach in front with super follow through from behind. The more he went the more I knew he had to be my CC winner which is exactly what he ended up & thoroughly deserved. If there is any justice he will make the upper house with ease, I was thrilled to find a male that ticked all my boxes & without any doubt or hesitation gave me a great deal of pride. I really wish he was mine!, congratulations to his handler too who remained calm & gave him the opportunity to show himself naturally, a perfect combination

2ND 3294 - Longmel Courvoisier Truffle (Mrs F M Hinwood), Really well made 18 month Red, has a shade more exaggeration throughout to 1 & still looks a baby having some maturing to do. However he is without doubt a quality young man, another exhibit where your hands just flow going over with everything fitting so well. Very good head & dark points, masculine in outlook without being course in any way. Long well defined neck, very good shoulders & tight elbows, super forehand, plenty of width on very good legs & feet. Long ribbing with good extension & correct underline, strong loins & a good solid backline. He is longer in body than 1 but for him it’s all in proportion, well muscled quarters with enough angulation with very good strong hocks. Quite precise out & back & holds himself well in profile with a natural head carriage & retaining a very good outline. He covers the ground in great style without the need for excessive speed. His condition & personality was spot on & given the chance I would think he has the potential for brighter things, especially on a performance like he gave here today. He appealed greatly

3RD 3284 - Rayol Charlie Brown (Mrs K Coupland), 19 month Red being a shade more lower to ground than 1 & 2, he is all male & has the darkest of points throughout, enough neck which he uses well on the move, plenty of front on the best of feet, long in body with deep long ribbing that extends well back, good firm topline, plenty of angulation in his strong quarters. Another sound young man coming & going with plenty of width, covers the ground well in profile, just not in the same style or freedom as 1 & 2, however he has plenty to offer & thoroughly deserved his place here in this very strong class

RES 3344 - Raajput’s Cosmic Flower (Miss G Willock)

VHC 3300 - Cwmdarhian San Antonio at Adnerb (Mrs B F & Miss C F Jones)

1ST 3313 - Cedavoch Rohan (L Mcnaughton), 2 yr B/T who is classical in breed type & is beautifully made throughout. Very good head & expression with the smallest, darkest almond shaped eyes, long well arched neck which he uses so well on the move, very good forechest that sits neatly on his strong legs & feet, Ribbing extends well back being deep & well sprung, gradual underline on a cast iron backline, short thick strong loins, tail correctly set & carried at all times, hocks are extremely strong being short & neat. Ultra sound coming & going & produces a faultless outline in profile, covering the ground in style whilst retaining a faultless outline. In super gleaming coat & muscular condition, his classical type secured him the top spot here, a shade more ground clearance would have sent him onto higher things, without doubt, especially from the old school judges he is one that can’t be overlooked

2ND 3332 - Carpaccio Magnum Pi at Hamoura (Mrs W Starkey), 3 year B/T in the peak of condition, hard as nails & gleaming throughout. He has more ground clearance than 1 & it was a close battle, I just preferred the more ‘old fashioned’ classical type of 1 but it was just a simple personal preference. Masculine in head & expression although no sign of coarseness,, long defined neck, good shoulders & tight elbows, plenty of front & width here, super ribbing, well sprung & extends well back, strongest of loins, enough angulation in quarters with good strong parallel hocks. Another whose action coming & going was precise, in profile he has a natural carriage & moved at the correct speed covering the ground in style & ease. No doubt it was a tough call but no doubt they are two quality males, different but both appeal for the right reasons

3RD 3301 - Cwmdarhian Gordon Ramsay (Miss T & Mr C & Mrs R Jones & Moes & Williams), 3 year Red, handled to perfection, presents a very smart picture in profile & good to go over on the table. Good head & ratios, long well arched neck, good shoulders, prominent breastbone & keel extends well back, not the feet of 1 & 2, very good body & ribbing, correct height to length ratios, strong loins on a cast iron topline, super strong hocks with no sign of weakness. Not as precise as 1 & 2 coming but ultra sound going away. Motors around in profile presenting a pleasing outline covering the ground in style

RES 3326 - Jacksondax Hornet Hurrah at Trisensara JW (Mrs S J Rycroft)

VHC 3286 - Endless Energy Mister Rosario (Mrs J Gliniecka)

1ST 3343 - Ir Ch Glenariff You're Excused Cwmdarhian (Mrs R & Mr C Williams & Moes), Headed a class full of real stallion hounds where some tough decisions had to be made. This Red boy pulled all the stops out here & never stopped showing, loved his head & expression, good strong jaws, ears correctly set & of the correct length for me, strong well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, correct length of upper arm & the tightest of elbows, plenty of forechest that fits correctly in the crook with his keel extending well back, feet could be tighter although strong in bone & totally free of any wrinkle. His ribbing is deep, oval & extends well back on a firm backline & gradual underline. Just the right amount of ground clearance, loins are short & strong as are his quarters that are on good parallel hocks. Ultra sound & precise coming & going, in profile he covers the ground with style & flair, his head naturally forward without being strung up & moves a great natural pace. Loved him for his type, pure condition & for giving that little extra without any effort & thought him a very comfortable RDCC winner, congratulations

2ND 3299 - Marvale’s Manifesto at Jenivon (Mrs J Jennings), Loved this B/T boy too, another who is a real stallion in outlook & gleaming in condition. Beautiful head & expression with a kind almond shaped eye, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders with very good angles & tight elbows. Prominent breastbone that fits between his front legs perfectly, fabulous in ribbing & body, good strong topline & correct underline. The shortest & strongest of loins with his tail being correctly set & carried at all times. Good strong quarters with enough angulation on the very best of hocks that are short, neat & have no sign of weakness. Another with precision personified coming & going, a bold & defiant head carriage in profile, clear reach in front & tremendous drive from behind. On the day I felt 1 was opening his gait just a touch more, it was very close & for all the quality here I’m sure he will continue to greater things, no doubting his many virtues & spanking condition will always have him in the money for the right reasons

3RD 3287 - Ch Marvale Chancellor at Ravold JW (Mrs S L A Graham), completed this trio of three real stallion boys, beautiful type, this very handsome B/T boy was certainly out of the same mould as 1 & 2, stunning head & expression, long well arched neck, good shoulders although not quite the layback as 1 & 2, plenty of front & width throughout on perfect legs & feet, good deep well sprung ribbing, strong well made quarters on good strong hocks. Just not as ultra precise here coming & going as 1 & 2, looked amazing in profile retaining a beautiful outline reaching out in style on a loose lead. Presentation in his coat & his hard muscular condition is a real credit & it shows too!

1ST 3339 - Wanderhund California Girl (Mr B & Mrs V Wand), What a delightful way to start judging the girls with this lovely class that was headed by this 8 year old exceptional B/T. She certainly has bone & substance but retains her femininity. Sweetest of heads & expression with the darkest almond shaped eyes, long well arched neck that she uses so well to project herself on the move, well laid shoulders & correct upper arm , tight elbows on the best of legs & feet. Her front is prominent, deep & well filled. Cast iron topline on the best of well sprung ribs, short thick loins, tail is a clear continuation of her spine, enough angulation behind on strong hocks. Spot on coming & going with her profile gait being active & free, she was certainly going places with zero effort whilst retaining a beautiful outline. To top this she has personality plus, a real showgirl & a real pleasure to award her BV & The RBCC in some strong competition, a real treat this one & made me smile for all the right reasons!

2ND 3295 - Longmel Special Truffle (Mrs F M Hinwood), 8 year Red that was more exaggerated throughout but in proportion for her, really beautiful feminine head & expression with ultra dark points throughout, long well arched neck leading into good shoulders, enough forechest, very good ribbing with a good firm backline, not the angulation behind of 1 & a shade longer in hocks. Very sound coming towards me although a little untidy going away here today. Retained a good profile outline & covered the ground in great style. In fabulous Coat & condition

3RD 3338 - Tiffwazz Robin (Mrs K S Valentine), 9 year B/T who was also ultra feminine, her head piece is beautiful with such a kind melting expression. For me she excels in body & ribbing which is deep & well sprung. Rock solid topline & correct underline, short in loins & tail correctly set & carried. She is quite sound especially for her age & another who stepped out with style in profile. In really lovely condition & a real credit to her owner

1ST 3341 - Wanderhund Put A Spell On You (Mr B & Mrs V Wand), 8 month B/T that’s tall enough for me although is well made & is lovely to examine on the table. Lovely head & feminine expression, dark almond shaped eyes & some good strength especially in her under jaw, well arched neck that lead into very good shoulders especially for her age. Wrinkle free legs on very good feet. Prominent breastbone with plenty of width throughout, ribbing is well developed, firm backline & super strong loins. Enough angulation behind, hocks are strong although a shade long for me. Ultra sound coming & going for one so young & really goes for it in profile in her own unique style covering the ground with ease. No doubting her amazing coat, condition, presentation & showmanship, a real credit to hard work

2ND 3318 - Luckytails Skye at Zorionadax (Mrs N Parker), 11 month B/T with the most beautiful head & expression, very good neck, shoulders not as clean as 1, very good forechest with plenty of width, feet could be better, very good body & ribbing & will look even better by loosing a few lbs!. For me she excels in quarters & certainly had shorter hocks than 1 which where strong, neat & parallel. Quite precise coming & going & although she covered the ground well in profile she appeared to make more effort in doing so & not with the same style as 1. Should have some fun working her way through the classes this year

3RD 3315 - Clentry Steal My Thunder (L Mcnaughton), Really raw 8 month Red & it showed here. You could say Long, Low & Level which I think she is, I love her size & oozes femininity throughout, stunning head & expression with super dark points throughout, everything is in the right place fore & aft, time is needed for these to continue to develop & I’m sure in a few months time we will witness something completely different. Most people remember raw puppies for all the wrong reasons, but here is an example that will make so many look again for the right reasons in the future, everything crossed!

1ST 3303 - Sky Is Limit Canis Venator (Mrs Mj & Mr Aj Jakubowska & Jakubowski), this 14 month headed a very difficult class to judge, all different & all having many virtues & personal dislikes. The result here was the best overall package & while she has far too much ground clearance for me I felt her overall package & style took her to this win. She really does have the most beautiful head & expression, big strong teeth & powerful jaws, lovely long well arched neck that she uses so well on the move, Good layback to shoulder & enough forechest in front. Ribbing extends well back, firm in backline & gradual in underline. Tail is correctly set & a continuation of her spine. She has enough quarters & for me a shade too much length of hock, however they are ultra strong & parallel. Coming & going she is ultra sound with plenty of width throughout. In profile you can actually see the benefit of that extra length of leg as covered the in phenomenal style which was so free & easy whilst retaining a balanced outline that suited her. No denying her quality & what she potentially has to offer

2ND 3267 - Clentry Unapologeticaly Me (Miss L Andison), 11 month S/Red that without any doubt was more my type, giving so much away in age here, looking the real baby that she is. Lovely head & expression with ultra dark points, long well arched neck, good shoulders on very good legs & feet, well developed forechest & plenty of width throughout. Ribbing extends well back with a firm backline & correct underline. Short in loin, has well made quarters with good length of second thigh, tail is correctly set, still needing to strengthen in hocks which will come. Even at this age her movement out & back was as parallel as you can get, her profile movement is there to see but as of yet not with the confidence & style of 1. She impressed me so much with her promise & quality to take BPB only to be beaten for BP by her litter brother, no doubting a great duo with bright futures

3RD 3325 - Chidax Sahara Sand by Trisensara JW (Mrs S J Rycroft), Smart 15 month Red, not exaggerated in anyway & presents a very pleasing overall picture. Lovely head & expression, well arched neck, excels with her prominent breastbone & width throughout, everything in her front construction is typical Dachshund especially with her fabulous feet. Very good body & ribbing, correct top & underlines, not long in anyway, enough in quarters, would like shorter stronger hocks. Comes towards me precisely but not as clean going away today as 1 & 2, moves out well in profile on a loose lead at the correct pace, put down in gleaming, rock hard condition

1ST 3312 - Melisdax Mischief in May (Miss L & Mrs J & Mrs L Macdonald & Macdonald & Coxon), Really fell for this 3 yr old B/T in a big way. Her size & overall balance is really quite beautiful. Ultra feminine in head & the most exquisite expression with small almond shaped eyes, long well arched neck leads into the best of shoulders, perfect angulation & nice tight elbows, wrinkle free legs & super feet support a correctly filled front which has plenty of forehand & a keel that extends well back, ribbing is well developed & extends well back, for me the right amount of ground clearance, solid backline, short thick loins, tail correctly set & carried at all times, well made thick & hammy quarters with good strong hocks. Ultra sound coming towards me & precise enough going away. So correct in profile on a loose lead clearly showing correct reach from the front & great follow through from behind. I fell for her in a big way, her size, proportions & ultimate breed type certainly made me look twice, a very comfortable winner here & in my final three for The CC, given the chance & on this performance, she should be in the upper house by the end of the year, beautiful

2ND 3271 - Rayol Pumpkin Pie at Jaxinorydax (Miss E Ashby), Really liked 19 month Red, very well made throughout, if a little more of her than 1. Very good & expression with good strong teeth & jaws. Enough neck leading into very good shoulders with correct upper arm & tight elbows. Plenty of front with plenty of width throughout, would prefer less wrinkle on her forelegs, good strong feet, well developed ribbing, well sprung, deep & oval. Correct in top & underlines, good strong loins, certainly has more than enough angulation behind & her hocks are very strong & parallel. Ultra sound in both directions, goes out well in profile, her gait is goo but here just didn’t seem as effortless or as natural as 1. A very good, well made honest bitch that I’m sure will be very useful. Top flight condition throughout

3RD 3335 - Melisdax Memories of May (Mrs S E Tomlinson), 3 yr B/t with the most feminine head & expression, enough neck leading into very good shoulders, prominent breastbone, plenty of width throughout on very good legs & feet. Super body & ribbing, her coat was absolutely amazing with the perfect shine to it, correct top & underlines, no exageration at all, short strong loins, tail correctly set & carried. A shade longer in hock than 1 & 2 although the are strong & she does stand parallel. Sound enough coming & going & shows so well in profile, again on a loose lead although not moving as freely with her reach & follow through as 1 & 2 here today, but she certainly retains & displays all that is good about her

1ST 3278 - W-Elodie (Mrs E Cattoir), Very well marked 2 yr S/Dapple, unique & appealing in so many ways, lovely head & expression, dark almond shaped eyes, big teeth & strong jaws, ears correctly set, long well defined arched neck, good shoulders & tight elbows, her feet are beautiful, enough forehand which certainly fits correctly in her crook, keel extends well back, excels in body proportions & ribbing which is well sprung, deep & oval, cast iron backline, short strong loins, tail continues the flow of he spine & used correctly on the move, has enough angulation behind & certainly uses what she has on the move to great advantage. Hocks are strong, firm & parallel. Ultra sound in front action & tidy enough going away, it’s her profile action & carriage that made me look twice, great ground coverage with ample reach in front & tremendous drive from behind. She was the overall package here, hard as nails & a comfortable winner I thought

2ND 3334 - Melisdax Magnolia in May (Mrs S E Tomlinson), 3 year ultra feminine Red that is free from exaggeration & so lovely to go over on the table where your hands just flow from beginning to end. Lovely head & expression with solid dark points, well arched neck leading into good shoulders on the best of legs & feet. Very good forechest & width throughout. Very good well sprung ribbing, correct top & underlines, strong loins with enough angulation in her quarters. Hocks could be shorter but they are strong & parallel. Coming & going she is quite precise, moves out in style in profile at the correct pace for her gait, unlucky to meet 1 whose batteries where clearly fully charged & did everything with zero effort. For type, rock hard condition & her gleaming coat she thoroughly deserved her place in this hot class

3RD 3323 - Craimose Aquilegia for Rayol (Mrs E & Miss C Roberts & Smith), lovely feminine B/T whose size & overall balance really appealed, very good head & expression, enough neck, well made front on superb legs & feet. Prominent forechest that all fits really well with correct width throughout. Very good ribbing, good loins, tail set & carriage a touch high set, good strong hocks that are neat & parallel. Loved her height to length ratios. Another very sound young lady coming & going & another who projected herself well in profile with some great ground coverage. Could turn out to be a very useful young lady

1ST 3282 - Ch Adnerbs Take A Chance On Me at Raajput (Dr M Chauhan), 5 year B/T who was absolutely bang on form & was as hard as nails. She certainly fills my idea of how any Dachshund should be made & is without any doubt is ultra feminine throughout. She fills my interpretation of the new style ‘Long, low & level’ without any exaggeration & just the right amount of ground clearance. I have seen her many times before & indeed have previously judged her, but here she gave her all & left me with no doubt at all that the day was hers. Ultra feminine head & expression, darkest of almond shaped eyes, strong jaws, strong well arched neck leads into the blueprint of shoulder angulation & construction, perfect angulation & tight elbows. Very good bone & fee, deep well filled front with plenty of width & enough ground clearance. Her ribbing extends well back with cast iron topline & gradual underline that’s clearly an extension of her keel. Shortest of strongest loins lead into beautifully angulated quarters. Tail is correctly set & carried at all times. Her hocks are neat, small, strong & parallel. Up & down she was so precise, in profile a sigh of relief as she was aloud to demonstrate her natural free & easy ground covering action with no running & her head carriage just as it should be being dignified & forward reaching & not strung up in an upright position. Her performance here was special, she knew it was her day & continued to do me proud in the group ring. I was left with no doubt that she had to be my BCC winner & our perfect representative on this very special occasion to take BOB. Congratulations

2ND 3328 - Ch Adnerbs Won Vision of Gobannium JW OSW (Mr M D & Mrs T A Stark), 6 year Red who is beautifully made throughout. A shade more of her all round, but all in proportion. Very good head & expression even if she is going a little grey in places, her points are still jet black. Well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, perfect layback & tight elbows, very good legs & feet. Her forehand is deep & well filled with plenty of width, very good ribbing that is well sprung & extends well back. Solid topline & gradual underline, strongest of loins on the strongest of quarters. Tail correctly set, hocks are strong & parallel. She is so ultra sound in front action but not as precise as 1 going away today. In profile she really opens he gait & can really cover some ground whilst still retaining all that is good about her. In my opinion a very worthy champion that thoroughly deserved her place here today. Litter sister to 1, obviously a very proud breeder & lucky owners!

3RD 3320 - Ch Cwmdarhian The Mistress (Mr P & Mr B Paterson), 3 yr B/T & has always been a favourite of mine, if for nothing else her pure enjoyment for life & her outgoing personality. My Best In Show winner last year at The Northern Counties & my opinion hasn’t changed, ultra feminine, stunning head & expression, so well made especially in front, super shoulders, tightest of elbows, well filled front that all fits perfectly, very good body & ribbing, not over long & free from exaggeration, well made quarters & her tail is correctly set even though she is proud of it which quite frankly I love to see. Here she was ultra sound in front if a little untidy going away, in profile she gives her all with zero effort & gives a very pleasing picture. A shade more ground clearance that 1 & 2 put her here today but in my opinion she is a worthy champion & completed a trio of exceptional girls

1ST 3298 - Clentry Sweet Melody (Mrs J Jennings), Really lovely type of Red who was VHC in a hot open class behind four champions. She too is top flight material, lovely head & expression with the darkest of points, long well arched neck leading into good shoulders, enough bone on very good feet. Plenty of forechest & enough width throughout. Very good ribbing that extends well back with a good firm backline. Short strong loins leading into well made hammy quarters. She is well muscled throughout & this reflects in her movement that was very sound coming & going & whilst retaining her outline in profile I felt she could have opened her gait a little more on the day. She certainly does appeal for all that is good about her
