Deerhound

I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge Deerhounds at this prestigious show, my first time awarding CCs. My excellent stewards, Sue and Mairi, kept everything running smoothly and I was happy with my entry, although a shame so many hounds were absent. I did feel that our ring was a little small which inhibited the movement of some of the larger dogs.

Puppy Dog (2, 1)

1st Kilbourne Rossie (Mr M & Mrs G Peach)

Lovely head with dark eye and neat ears on this 8 month old puppy. Strong neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Chest deep with hindquarters still developing in muscle, but this will come with maturity. Stood covering the ground well with low hocks. Movement was steady, light and easy. Pleased to award him best puppy. BP

A young dog (20 months) of pleasing shape and type. Correct head with lovely expression, dark eyes, and neat small ears. Long, strong neck set into a fair shoulder assembly, leading to a pleasing topline and fallaway to a low-set tail. Broad enough bone for age, though could be a little deeper in brisket, with time on his side to develop further. Moved out well, though not quite as well as the first on this occasion.
