BELFAST DOG SHOW SOCIETY – CHINESE CRESTED

It was a great honour to be invited by the Belfast Dog Show Society to award Challenge

Certificates for the first time in Chinese Cresteds. My sincere thanks to the committee for their

kind invitation and warm hospitality, and to the exhibitors who supported the entry, many of

whom travelled long distances to Northern Ireland. I was delighted with the overall quality and

presentation. Type, refinement, and movement were pleasing throughout.

Junior Dog

1st – 1367 Talltales Maverick’s Choice

15-month-old Hairless, very promising junior, full of quality. Well-proportioned head with pleasing

expression, dark almond eyes, and large ears carried correctly. Elegant neck flowing into well-

laid shoulders. Balanced outline with correct topline. Moved out soundly with confidence. A

quality exhibit whose combination of refinement, balance, and sound movement earned him the

class, Dog CC & Best Opposite Sex.

Open Dog

1st – 1366 Ir., Bos., Herz. Ch., Bos., Herz. Gr. Ch. Kaylen’s Trumpet at Talltales (An.Ch. 24,

CW25, CJW24, CPW23, Ir. Jun. Ch.)

Two-year-old Hairless, an outstanding male of correct type. Refined, with excellent balance and

presence. Head of quality with correct eye, ear, dentition, and crest placement. Long, clean

neck into correct shoulders, deep chest, and level topline. Carried himself proudly on the move

with reach and drive. Reserve Dog CC.

2nd – 1371 Valentino Von Shinbashi Del Pufflepaws

Two-year-old Powderpuff. Well-constructed with good movement. Correct head proportions and

dentition. Silky veil coat in excellent condition, lightly groomed to advantage without over-

trimming.

3rd – 1361 Shinepagne Souper Trouper

Puppy Bitch

1st – 1370 Pufflepaws Somnis De Utopia

Seven-month-old Hairless bitch, very promising youngster, full of quality. Well-proportioned head

with pleasing expression, dark almond eyes, and large ears carried correctly. Elegant neck

flowing into well-laid shoulders. Balanced outline with correct topline. Moved out soundly with

confidence for one so young. Best Puppy in Breed & Reserve Bitch CC.

2nd – 1365 Travelahawk Invented A Mystic Celtic

Ten-month-old Hairless bitch, another quality puppy, well made with good body length.

Movement not as settled as the winner but may improve with maturity.

Junior Bitch

1st – 1370 Pufflepaws Somnis De Utopia

2nd – 1365 Travelahawk Invented A Mystic Celtic

Limit Bitch

1st – 1362 Shinepenge Sweet Melody

Two-year-old Hairless bitch with an appealing outline. Head correctly proportioned with well-

placed crest and large ears carried well. Good depth of chest and ribbing, slightly longer than

tall. Tail well set and carried proudly. Moved freely. I would prefer a firmer topliner on the move.

Open Bitch

1st – 1364 Ch. Habiba Hold My Purse

Five-year-old Hairless, a standout of excellent type and quality. Lovely head with refinement,

correct proportions, and bright expression. Large ears, carried well, dark eyes and crest

enhance femininity. Neck long and clean into well-laid shoulders, deep chest, and level topline.

Correct tail set with flowing plume. Movement smooth and effortless with reach and drive,

holding her outline at all times. Presented in first-class condition and handled to advantage. Her

overall refinement, balance, and breed type won her the class, the Bitch CC & Best of Breed.

Delighted to see her go on to win 3rd place in a strong Toy Group.

2nd – 1363 Ir. Lux Ch. Incantodelmondo Verbena

Two-year-old Powderpuff bitch, another quality exhibit, well-constructed with good body

proportions. Movement not as flowing as the winner.

Judge’s Closing Remarks

I was very pleased with the entry and congratulate exhibitors on the presentation of their dogs,

particularly the Powderpuffs shown in correct silky condition without excessive trimming. I was

delighted to find some outstanding examples combining elegance, refinement, and soundness.
