Blackpool & District Canine Society

Many thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge, what a lovely show and opportunity to judge for the first time at a championship show. The weather presented its challenges, and I’d like to thank the exhibitors for their patience and accepting the decision to judge outside. The rings were bigger and better kept which help with assessing movement even if some of the hounds weren’t impressed with the rain. I was pleased with the uniformity of good pigment, ears and tail length in the breed and mouths were overall correct.

Puppy Dog (1,0)

1st Vysaris Baccus Dieu Du Vin (Brown). 11 Months; Sweet boy, nice pigment, ear set and correct bite. Well balanced for angulation and overall proportions. Moving out well today with topline and tail held well on the move. Well-presented and handled. BPIB.

Post Graduate Dog (1,0)

1st Valefell Savannah Journey (Fairhurst). 3 ½ year. Lovely typical petit head and expression. Longer cast but still presents balanced angulation fore and aft which he used well on the move. Good quality coat completed the picture.

Open Dog (3,1)

1st Erylan Poseidon De La Mer (Bartley). 2 ½ Years; Showy boy who I feel still has some maturing to do. Really nice head of good proportions with excellent pigment. Good height to length ratio and well-balanced angulation used well on the move. Topline held well and good texture of coat completed the picture. RBD.

2nd Ir CH Erylan Chaud Comme Hades (Brown) An Ch ’23 CW 24/25. Rising 6 years, I’ve judged this dog before and he remains a good honest made petit although bigger made than 1st. Good head, correct ear set. Decent shoulder and well ribbed. Moving out happily with correctly carried length of tail, just preferred the overall balance of 1st.

Veteran Dog (2, 0)

1st Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal VW (Bartley) 8 ½ Years young, compact boy, really nice head with dark eye. Enough neck into a good lay of shoulder and depth of brisket. Good rear angles with nice short hocks, used well on the move. Held his topline and tail well on the go round. Presented in lovely condition with a good harsh coat. BD and BV

2nd Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux ShCEx (Bartley) 7 ½ years longer cast than 1st, lovely proportioned masculine head with warm expression, good leathers set well. Short neck and moderately angled fore and aft. Moved out well, a harsh coat completing the picture.

Puppy Bitch (2,1)

1st Vysaris Lys Tigre En Fleur (Anderson, Mcaulay & Gibson) 11-month-old, Sweet baby with a good dark eye and correct head plains complimented by correct ear set. Well balanced angles with pleasing height to length ratio. Well ribbed and holding topline and tail well on the move. I can see this little girl doing well once she matures.

Junior Bitch (2,0)

1st Erylan Phoebe Le Petit Bijou (Foote & Mcaulay) 11-month-old, Really pretty girl with lots to like. Pleasing expression, proportions of skull and correct ear set. Nicely balanced angulation with low set hocks and well set on tail. Another nice mover. BJIB.

2nd Erylan Fleur (Fairhurst)14 month half sister to class winner, longer cast with lovely feminine head, great pigment and soft eye. Well angled with good length of rib, top line and tail set. This girl was being a typical petit and making her handler work but moved with good reach and drive once settled. Really liked both of these girls but 1st place won out on being more settled on the move.

Post Graduate Bitch (1,0)

1st Erylan Passiflore (Fairhurst & Mcaulay) 14 month old, Typical feminine girl. Good pigment, great head proportions, ear set and eye colour. Decent neck set into moderate shoulder, well ribbed with a good topline held well on the move. Moved ok once settled.

Open Bitch (3,0)

1st Maudaxi Joanie Loves Cha Cha (Reid) Rising 3-year-old girl, I really liked her attitude, lots of petit energy in a compact typey bitch. Well proportioned skull with nicely set fine leathers and dark eye giving a sweet expression. Prominent fore chest with neat elbows and ribbed well back leading into a well-made rear. Moved with great enthusiasm round the ring, holding her topline well and carrying her tail correctly on the go. Picture completed with an excellent quality and well-presented jacket. BB and BOB

2nd CH/IR CH Erylan Hera La Reine ShCEx (Foote and Mcaulay) 5-year-old girl, worthy of her titles. Great head of correct proportions with a lovely dark eye and correct leathers. Good front with neat elbows and good length of rib. Moved out well carry her neat tail correctly. Topline a little soft today but very nicely presented and handled. RBB.
