I’m deeply grateful to the ladies of LKA for inviting me to judge their wonderful show and for the warm welcome I received. A special thank you to my stewards, Mark and Joyce who were absolutely first rate. I am very grateful to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely Welshies for my opinion. The entry was full of quality and you all took the best dog home.
Class 1310 MPD (3 Entries) Abs: 1 2 very promising boys.
1st: 3313 ANDERSON, Ms K Westaway Return Call To Kazval (imp Nor) Taf Naf. 6 mths old and enjoying every single second of his first show. He is very well constructed with a super forehand and plenty of heart and lung room. His head is balanced and he has the cheekiest glint in his eyes. Fabulous feet, firm and round. Moved steadily and very happily. BPD.
2nd: 3358 REES, Mrs Janice Merchinetes Taliesin At Typica. Plenty of bone and substance and in excellent condition. Flat, dense coat, well presented. Head of good proportions, dark eyes. He needs to fill in front a little. Moved well but not as tidy in front as the winner.
Class 1311 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3330 DUNNE, Mrs Eleanor & DUNNE, Mr Alexander Highslade Edge Of Glory. Taller boy who should fill his frame as he matures. Pleasing head with well set on ears and good finish to muzzle. Moved steadily.
Class 1312 JD (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 3344 JOHNSON, Mr Alyn Gareth Santallina Coroebus. A cracking youngster who I see is litter brother to the bitch CC winner. He is strongly built and so well constructed and compact. I loved his well proportioned head with its clear stop and superb chiselling below his dark, kind eyes. He is so clean over the neck and shoulders, carries a strong topline and has wide well developed quarters. I was particularly impressed with his deep second thighs. His footfall is precise and he holds his shape on the move. I was very drawn to the picture he presents on the stack and couldn’t resist him for the RCC.
2nd: 3356 BENNION, Mrs G Menstonia Endless Dreams. Longer cast than the winner and more moderate in angulation. He has a very handsome head with a clear stop and strong muzzle, well laid shoulders though with a little less return of upper arm. Good ribbing and he moved well.
Class 1313 PGD (6 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3344 JOHNSON, Mr Alyn Gareth Santallina Coroebus. Repeat.
2nd: 3334 GAYLOR, Miss Cindy Jayne & ROBERTSON, Mr Ian Gilstonia Run Red Rum For Aprilflash. A quality dog who displays the most wonderful temperament. I liked the proportions of his leg to body length and his classic front construction with plenty of forechest. Muscular body, slightly arched loin, moderate turn of stifle, tight feet. Positive mover but didn’t have the verve of the winner.
3rd: 3343 JACKSON, Mrs Lisa Jayne & RITCHIE, Mrs Thelma & JA Slapestones Diminico
Res: 3340 GRIFFITHS, Mrs Ann Merchinetes Padrig
VHC: 3367 THOMAS, Miss Gwyneth Tigerrock Top Gun
Class 1314 LD (3 Entries) Abs: 0 A good class, liked all 3.
1st: 3327 DOUGLAS, Mrs Dorothy Kay & DOUGLAS, Mr Ian Santallina Off And Running JW. A very well balanced dog with a well moulded head, plenty of substance, big ribs and powerful quarters. Very clean over neck and shoulders with good depth of brisket. Presents a classic shape on the stack and holds it on the move.
2nd: 3365 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P P & SHORT, Miss N Toftwood Ziggy Starman. Handled and presented very well and has the loveliest head and expression. Big ribs carried well back, excellent return of upper arm, uses his well muscled quarters to power round the ring.
3rd: 3345 JOHNSTONE, Mrs Gill & JOHNSTONE, Mr Peter Glenbrows Erasmus For Gilpeta. I liked this very well made and handsome dog and whilst his movement is good, he just needed to up his game today.
Class 1315 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 0 A super class of top notch dogs.
1st: 3349 MARRELLA, Mr Alessandro Sh Ch Ferndel Water Mark (ai). A very impressive dog of excellent breed type, presenting a symmetrical and compact shape, depth of brisket and well-sprung ribs that clearly make him built for endurance and hard work. His head is masculine and well proportioned with a slightly domed skull, clear stop and dark hazel eyes. He has a long, muscular neck that fits so cleanly into his sloping shoulders, his front is straight with plenty of forechest, excellent return of upper arm and his leg length is in proportion to his body length. He is such a powerful and smooth mover who covers plenty of ground and really drives from behind. CC.
2nd: 3312 ALLEN, Ms Josephine Sh Ch Eiriandylis By George. I liked this dog a very great deal for his size and excellent breed type; I wish he had put a bit more oomph into his performance today. His head is simply wonderful with such an imploring expression and he had the best vine leaf shaped ears of the day. He has a taut and well coupled body, strong, muscular quarters, wide thighs and firm, cat like feet. I preferred the winner over the croup. His temperament is outstanding making him a truly merry spaniel and a very worthy show champion.
3rd: 3333 GAYLOR, Miss Cindy Jayne & ROBERTSON, Mr Ian Sh Ch Heniveruce King Of Brewers For Aprilflash. Terrifically presented and handled and another very worthy show champion.
Class 1316 GCD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3346 LEACH, Mrs Susan & LEACH, Mr Brian Islanza Hey Dude. What a fabulous head, eye and expression this dog has; he gave me such a look! Excellent forehand, deep brisket, a tad long in loin, used his quarters well on the move but a shade untidy in front.
Class 1317 SBD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3340 GRIFFITHS, Mrs Ann Merchinetes Padrig. Reserve in Post Grad, slightly domed skull, good depth of muzzle but a little starey in eye. Decent bend of stifle, firm, round feet. Moved with style to take BSB.
2nd: 3330 DUNNE, Mrs Eleanor & DUNNE, Mr Alexander Highslade Edge Of Glory. Repeat. 1st PD.
Class 1318 VD/B (5 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 3318 GILLHAM, Mrs Louise & RITCHIE, Mrs Thelma Sh Ch Slapestones Diamond Mine JW. A beautifully constructed dog, presenting a most handsome head with a soft, appealing expression and excellent chiselling beneath the eyes. He excels in rear movement and displays exemplary tail carriage. A truly worthy Show Champion, yet it is the harmony and obvious rapport with his handler that sets him apart, clearly reflecting the mutual affection and understanding they share. BVIB.
2nd: 3363 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P P Ferndel Fire Gem At Toftwood. Compact and symmetrical with good depth of brisket, pronounced sternum, good ribbing and slightly arched muscular loin. Pretty head. Powerful mover.
3rd: 3335 GRAHAM, Mrs Sharon & GRAHAM, Mr John Aindrea Harleyquinn.
Class 1319 MPB (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 3355 MORGAN, Mrs Jean Margaret Rubydown Summer Magic. What a pretty baby, dark eyes with lovely chiselling beneath. Straight front, good return and length of upper arm, well ribbed back, moderate bend of stifle. Moved steadily with a good tail action.
2nd: 3326 DIXON, Mrs Frances Rubydown Summer Joy. Litter sister to the winner and very similar. She was quite a handful for her handler and very merry indeed.
3rd: 3314 ATTWOOD, Mrs Barbara E & ATTWOOD, Mr Ken Roxdale Wispa By Kylowen
Res: 3353 MOORE, Mrs Rebecca Carole & MOORE, Mr D Luneville Water Lily
Class 1320 PB (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3338 HARRISON, Mr & Mrs T & H Glenbrows Aurora. A beautiful bitch presented in a rich red and very white jacket of lovely silky texture. She has a delicately chiselled head set on a long neck, flowing into well laid shoulders, with plenty of forechest and a true, straight front. Excellent feet. She offers ample heart and lung room, wide quarters and deep second thighs, and moved very well throughout. BPIB.
2nd: 3326 DIXON, Mrs Frances Rubydown Summer Joy. Repeat. 2nd in MP.
3rd: 3314 ATTWOOD, Mrs Barbara E & ATTWOOD, Mr Ken Roxdale Wispa By Kylowen
Class 1321 JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3347 LEWIN, Mr M G Sh Ch Santallina Olympic Flame JW. She is utterly beautiful and an outstanding example of the breed. She presents a curvy and compact outline that flows from nose to tail and her balance is apparent as she stands most comfortably on well boned legs and the best of feet to show off her outstanding breed type. Her head is divine with its classically chiselled cheeks, well defined stop, strong foreface, almost square finish, soulful eyes and is framed by her well set and fabulously shaped ears. Her strong neck flows into well laid shoulders and her depth and spring of rib give her plenty of heart and lung room. Well muscled loins add to the strength of her body and her hindquarters are wide and powerful with a well developed flare over the hips. On the move she displays a strong, merry and active gait and her construction is evident in her forward reach, drive and precise footfall; she shows a clean pair of heels when going away and her tail is carried perfectly with a lively action. Added to this is her classic rich red and white coat, with a silky texture that lies flat and is moderately feathered. She has it all; quality, style, substance, refinement and total balance and I was delighted to award her the CC and BOB.
Class 1322 PGB (10 Entries) Abs: 2 A really good class full of quality.
1st: 3325 COOPER, Mrs G A & MULLIN, Mrs Y Gilstonia Maggie May. Her head is quite lovely with its slightly domed skull, fairly square muzzle and well developed nose. Good forechest and length and return of upper arm, well sprung ribs, wide thighs, perhaps a tad long in loin but it is muscular. I found her very attractive on the stack and when she moved she showed a very clean pair of heels.
2nd: 3342 JACKSON, Mrs J & PALMER, Mrs F Tuttington Ginger Snap At Ardinia. Absolutely beautiful, her head is exquisite, she is so well put together but today she threw it away by pacing. That said I did see some powerful movement and she was such a happy soul; clearly glad to be here and doing her best to please.
3rd: 3336 GRAHAM, Mrs Sharon & GRAHAM, Mr John Slapestones Catoca
Res: 3337 HARRISON, Mr & Mrs T & H Glenbrows Time Will Tell
VHC: 3322 CHANDLER, Mrs Angela Ruth Chanangel White Rose JW
Class 1323 LB (12 Entries) Abs: 5
1st: 3366 TEW, Mrs Pamela Pamicks Dream With Me. How this girl has come on. She presents a great shape and holds it on the move with her pretty head held high and lashing her tail. She is compact and strongly built with a great forehand and wide quarters. In lovely condition.
2nd: 3357 PLACE, Mrs M L & HALLIDAY, Mrs AL Slapestones Aykhal At Aarminias. Another quality bitch who presents a super outline. Just not as good behind as the winner today. I liked her very much.
3rd: 3368 WARD, Miss C M Glenbrows Flame For Tantaraviz
Res: 3364 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P P Toftwood Jean Genie
VHC: 3361 SHAWYER, Mr & Mrs Paul & Julie Menstonia Wish Come True
Class 1324 OB (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 3321 CHANDLER, Mrs Angela Ruth Chanangel Yorkshire Rose. This bitch has the prettiest head and most wonderful expression; so imploring and kind. Her flowing outline leaves no doubt as to her type. There is nothing exaggerated, just a pure honest to goodness Welshie, compact, strong and firm in body. Her shoulders are well laid and her length and return of upper arm put her legs well under her body and she has plenty of forechest. She powers round the ring maintaining her shape, holding her head high and lashing her tail. Delighted to award her the RCC.
2nd: 3331 FERGUSON, Mrs B M Julita Raindance At Teaselwood. Nice head with slightly domed skull and clear stop, could be deeper in muzzle and I preferred the eye and expression of the winner. She carries a strong topline, has wide thighs and moved well.
3rd: 3352 MOORE, Mrs Rebecca Carole & MOORE, Mr D Brent Oyster Bay
Class 1325 GCB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3351 MCILWAINE, Mrs V & Miss H & REYNOLDS, MRS J Ferndel Rebecca For Benoveor. A most attractive girl who, on the stack, presents a beautifully clean outline with everything flowing smoothly and no lumps, bumps or angles to detract from the picture. She has a lovely head, plenty of forechest, is well ribbed back and shows a moderate bend of stifle. It was a shame she did not move with a little more enthusiasm on the day.
2nd: 3354 MORGAN, Mrs Jean Margaret Benoveor Endless Love At Rubydown. Heavier built, good angulation, well developed quarters. Very merry.
Class 1326 SBB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3350 MAYO, Mrs Tracey Helgen Candy Mountain. Rather more heavily freckled than my preference, however she is strongly built and compact in outline, standing on excellent feet and carrying a well set tail. She moved well.
