1ST 4696 - Penbriar Dark Secret at Mannerpool (Miss K & Mr S Manners & Glasspool)

Black presented in lovely, fit condition. Love his head with his big expressive eyes and correct ears. Long neck running into laid back shoulders, good return of upper arm and spring of pastern ending in correct feet. Deep brisket, well ribbed back to strong loin, giving a correct topline. Hindquarters angulated to match his front enabling him to move soundly in all directions. Best Veteran in Breed

 2ND 4535 - Lolani Gentleman Jack (Mrs D Bingham)

Well made fawn with good head and expression. Long neck running into well angulated front, deep brisket. Good length, strong loin and well angulated hindquarters. Moved well in profile, keeping his topline

RES 4848 - Crosscop Somebody to Love (Mr M & Mrs M Webb)

VHC 4690 - Grasampa Turn On The Light at Ivybright (Miss J E Manley)

1ST 4686 - Tervanty Dragon Master (Miss C & Mr N Luther & Buckland)

Attractive 8 months blue brindle who was rather over-awed by the occasion. He won by virtue of his better construction than the other two. He is a lovely make and shape with good depth and body for his age. Moves soundly with an easy stride

 2ND 4682 - Penwincoed Mr Magoo (Ms J M Lloyd)

8 months Fawn brindle with pleasing head and expression. Not as balanced as the winner in outline because he is overly long in loin. Good angulation fore and aft and moved enough

3RD 4846 - Tervanty Dream of Dragons at Scarletfair (Miss H & Miss H Wayman)

874. Whippet - Puppy Dog

The first two were chalk and cheese. The winner was very mature for his age due to his super fit body condition and the second was very much a baby, still on the plump side, which I do like to see in youngsters. I found a lot of the exhibits in the age classes were very slab-sided in what I consider to be thin, poor body condition. There is a vast difference between being fit and thin and I especially do not like to see thin young Whippets, it is poor husbandry.

1ST 4737 - Silkridge Black Caviar (Mrs C Perkins)

Well constructed 11 months black/white trim on built flowing lines, standing over a lot of ground. In such fit condition it was like running my hands over marble. Long neck running into well angulated shoulders, good depth and spring of rib, correct length of loin and hindquarters to match his front. So sound on the move. Best Puppy Dog

2ND 4855 - Lancar Dream Quartz Stone of Citycroft (Imp Lva) (Mrs J C & Miss R L Whitehead & Smith)

12 months on the day fawn brindle. Liked his size, lovely head and expression. Not the scope of the winner but has good angulation and depth with spring of rib and moved well.

2ND 4820 - Whitesquall Superiore (Lord J & Mrs S L Titt)

15 months fawn brindle. Super head and eye, very attractive overall. More compact in shape than the winner but well made throughout and moved well enough.

1ST 4705 - Barnesmore Midnight Magic (Mr Agus Moreno Lopez)

Strongly built black brindle but not overdone. Loved his head and expression. Has good depth and body, maybe would prefer a tad more length. Best of feet and legs, shown in fit condition, moving well from all angles

 2ND 4800 - Ir Ch Collooney We’ve Got This (Mr D G, Mrs Y L & Mr J Short, Short & Fletcher)

Attractive fawn brindle with good head. Tad more angulated than the winner so stands over a bit more ground. Sound on the move.

These two could quite easily have swapped places but I went with my initial reaction of liking the look of the winner more.

3RD 4820 - Whitesquall Superiore (Lord J & Mrs S L Titt)

1ST 4618 - Loroli Devil’s Stone (Ms L Grisoli)

Black brindle with plenty of substance but not overly tall. Good head and expression, super front assembly with deep brisket, good body, well ribbed back and correct length of loin. Hind angulation matches his front but he needs to strengthen up to move with more purpose, although his is sound

2ND 4710 - Crosscop Waterloo Sunset (Mrs Ea Mould)

I want to call him fawn but my notes say ‘almost brindle’! Pleasing make and shape although not as well angulated as the winner but he has good depth and length and is sound on the move.

1ST 4585 - Bowdonia Feet of Flames at Jalwhipp (J L & A Dargue & Halliday)

Brindle/white trim dog that took my eye on the first go round and didn’t disappoint on going over him … my notes say “just my cup of tea”! Lovely head and expression, he just flows from there, down his long neck into well laid shoulders, to be hyper- critical I would like a tad more return of upper arm but none are perfect and it didn’t detract from his movement. Best of legs and feet with bladed bone and well sprung pasterns. Good top and underline, well angulated hindquarters with strong second thigh. Another in good fit condition. He moved with a free, easy gait soundly in all directions. He is a great showman, never moved a muscle when stood even with all the hulabaloo going on! Was very pleased to award him the CC which I understand makes him up. Congratulations!!

2ND 4695 - Florancy Dark and Stormy (Miss K, Mr A & Miss F Manners, McDonald & Chant)

This correct sized dog in his gleaming black coat (as were all this exhibitor’s dogs) is a totally different stamp to the winner, I would call him a quintessentially ‘English’ Whippet! He is not overdone in any way., not as scopey as some but totally balanced. Stacked, at first, he appeared to lack length but once on the table and going over him it was clear that he was well put together. He has a good length of neck, well laid shoulders, correct spring of rib and length of loin, correct topline and depth of brisket into a good tuck-up, strong hindquarters to match his front. Enough bladed bone for his size, sloping pasterns and correct feet. Well muscled and fit for function. Once on the move he comes into his own and flows round the ring, holding his topline and moving true. The more I watched him, the more I liked him and awarded him the RCC

3RD 4553 - Wolfscastle Livin The Dream (Miss Z & Miss E Brodie & Owen)

RES 4536 - Wrennalla Steel (Mrs D Bingham)

2ND 4550 - Shalfleet Making Waves (Mr K & Miss J Bridgman-Lewis & Wilton-Clark)

Blue brindle of correct size that I have admired from the ringside. Didn’t disappoint in going over him as he is well made throughout and moves soundly. I just preferred the head of the winner today
