Championship Show

28/09/2025

I would like to express my thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge and for the great care and hospitality afforded to me, combine that with an array of beautiful dogs and I had one of the best weekends I have had for a very long time.

I did wonder if the long weekend of showing had affected some dogs as some appeared a little jaded and not quite as enthusiastic on the move as expected.

Puppy Dog (1)

1st Loughlin Miss CM, Riverwood X Had To Be You for Rohanmor (Imp Bel) 10 month old of good size but has the depth of chest to match. He has a balanced head with a well shaped eye holding a hint of mischief. Long in neck flowing nicely into his topline, standing on well boned legs and tidy feet. Still very coltish which showed in his movement coming and going but showed reach in profile. BPIS

Junior Dog (3)

1st MacFarlane Mrs A, Harelferg MacFarlane for Umfrido Mature young dog of 13 months with a gentle but masculine head, he has parallel planes with soft brown eyes under raised brows, clean and firm in neck he flows smoothly into a firm, sloping topline with depth and spring of rib underneath. Pleasing clean boned legs and tight, arched feet so important in a dog that works over moorland. He has lovely broad, muscled thighs which he put to good use on the move covering the ground well.

2nd McKelvey Ms K, Allardus Of The Victorious Pure at Edenaveys (Imp NEL) 17 month dog with the most glorious rich red colour. He has a pleasing masculine head with well shaped eyes and raised brows. Firm in the neck with a good layback of shoulder, not as mature in body as 1st but he has plenty of time to grow on. Correct amount of bone but feet could be a bit tighter. Strong in rear with broad well muscled stifles, moved out cleanly.

3rd Hughes Ms S, Braebrook Golden

Yearling Dog (4)

1st Walsh Ms, Gwendariff Wambam Thanku Mam Jun Ch JD (ATCBC25405IKC) What an appealing young dog this boy is, standing and moving he was a picture, so well balanced with a lovely clean outline. He has a handsome head with plenty of work in it and bright, well shaped eye. He has a lovely front assembly with depth and spring of rib, firm throughout and in excellent condition. Moved out well, just needs time to finish he is certainly one to watch.

2nd Walker Mrs L & Mr D, Gwendariff Hanky Panky JW (IKC) Substantial dog of good size and substance. He has a masculine head with oval skull and defined occiput. Clean through the neck, laidback shoulder leading to a good return of upperarm. He has a deep chest but not as firm in topline as 1st. Moved cleanly but not quite the drive of the winner today.

3rd Hughes Ms S, Braebrook Golden

Graduate Dog (2, 1abs)

1st MacFarlane Mrs A, Harelfreg New Tricks for Umfrido Shcex Well made dog of good size with a balanced outline. He has good head planes with a bright, correctly shaped eye. Balanced angulation front and rear with pleasing amount of bone and good feet. He covered the ground with reach and drive, just carrying his tail a little high today.

Post Graduate Dog (1)

1st Richardson Mr J Mrs L & Miss Lh, Bardonhill McIntosh Red at Montgreenan JW Presented that clean, racey outline I was looking for athletic but strong and firm throughout. He is really lovely to go over, just flowing from tip to tail. He has a soft masculine head with good planes, correctly shaped brown eye under raised brows and a true oval skull. He has a lovely layback of shoulder, the correct amount of forechest and a great depth of rib. His broad, well muscled thighs gave driving movement. Put down in beautiful condition he could not be denied RCC and one i will certainly watch with interest

Mid Limit Dog (2, 1abs)

1st Walsh Ms, Gwendariff Wambam Thanku Mam Jun Ch JD (ATCBC25405IKC) Repeat of Yearling

Limit Dog (4)

1st Walker Mrs L & Mr D, Gwendariff UCan’t Touch This JW True to type with a balanced, masculine outline in fantastic coat and condition. He has a lovely masculine head, well proportioned with soft brown eye under raised brows. He excels in front with lovely angulation and just the right amount of forechest, deep through the rib, maybe a fraction shorter than my ideal but that is personal preference. He has broad stifles which gave plenty of propulsion to cover the ground with drive.

2nd Gardner Miss Tania, Quensha Walk Me Home to Danwish Good sized dog with substance. He has a soft expression with a dark eye, not quite the strength of my winner but has a pleasing oval skull with defined occiput. He has depth and spring of rib with broad, well shaped thighs giving drive, good profile movement but a little untidy coming towards me today.

3rd Walker Mrs L & Mr D, Gwendariffs Flags Are Flyin

Open Dog (1)

1st Dufrat Miss A, Riverbrue Cast No Shadow on Haverley Standing alone this boy was eye catching, standing in the line up he demanded attention. He has a striking head with dark, expressive eyes, correct planes and raised brows. He was a delight to get my hands on, everything just flowed from his well set shoulders down to the tip of his tail he just felt correct. Cracking front assembly, deep ribs and a well shaped rear, standing on well boned legs and beautiful arched feet all presented the picture I was looking for and he moved out with power and verve, clean and true in all directions CC RBIS

Champion Dog (1)

1st Donnelly Mrs K, Forfar Mind Yer Manners Int & IrShCh Fully mature male presented in gleaming coat and condition. He has a gentle expression with a soft, well shaped eye and oval skull. Clean outline with a balanced angulation and pleasing bone. He covered the ground well but when it came to the challenge he didn’t quite have the enthusiasm today but a worthy title holder for sure.

Veteran Dog (1)

1st Toms Miss SI, IrShCh Int ShCh Toberbilly I Wish You Luck Jun Ch, JD, Cen W, CW23 This boy has the most beautiful head with the gentle, slightly cheeky expression I just love to see. He certainly carries his years well with no sign of his veteran status. He is strong in outline with a lovely depth and spring of rib, of good size with substance to match he stands on strong bone and lovely tight feet. He was surefooted and careful on the move each time of asking. RBVIS

Junior Bitch (1)

1st Murphy Ms Carmel, Clannrua Fiarua (ATC RAF) What a pretty young bitch full of character and promise. She has a sweet feminine head of lovely balance and proportions. She is extremely well made with a cracking front assembly and depth of rib, she flows gently to a well shaped rear with good width of stifle. On the move she covered the ground well, just needs to firm up a touch in the rear and she will be knocking on the door of the top awards for sure.

Yearling Bitch (3)

1st Roffey Miss S, Gwendariff Sky’s The Limit (IKC) Striking young bitch who just oozes personality and character. She has the most beautiful of heads with bright, expressive eyes under defined brows with balanced planes and a melting expression. Her clean neck flows beautifully into a fabulous front assembly with a lovely layback of shoulder and return of upperarm. She has depth and spring of rib and such a classic outline. Her rear is well muscled with broad well angulated stifles and clean bone with tight feet. On the move she was smooth and true in all directions, you got the feeling she didn’t need her handler to show off her attributes, she could do it all by herself. I could not look past her for the CC and BIS and was not surprised to hear after that she already has a fistful of CCs, I’m sure there will be many more to come

2nd Murphy Ms Carmel, Clannrua Fiarua (ATC RAF) Repeat of Junior Bitch

3rd Loughlin Miss CM, Rohanmor Faith Of The Heart

Graduate Bitch (1)

1st Sturrock Mrs S & Misses N & J, Forfarian Fancy Me JW Feminine in head with a gentle expression, oval skull and defined occiput. Long neck with a good lay of shoulder, she still needs to mature a touch in body and forechest but is balanced in angulation with a firm topline, strong bone and lovely tight feet. Put down in lovely condition she covered the ground well showing drive.

 Limit Bitch (3)

1st Sturrock Mrs S & Misses N & J, Forfarian Tickles Yer Fancy This was a bit of a mixed class and this girl had the strong outline I was looking for. She is of good size but is well balanced with a feminine head, dark expressive eyes and well shaped oval skull. She has a pleasing front with the flow I was looking for, clean bone and the best of feet. She held her topline well standing and moving covering plenty of ground.

2nd Lavery Mrs, Clannrua Sleibhe I liked the picture this girl made strong and well shaped. She has plenty of work in her head with a soft expression and raised brow. She has balanced angulation with a depth and spring of rib. Just carrying a little extra weight today which did show as she moved, rolling a little but was still straight and true.
