BELFAST VETERAN GROUPS 27-28 SEPT. 2025

I had hoped to submit this report earlier but sadly my souvenir from Belfast was a bout of covid.

I had some really super veterans to judge across all the groups – it’s always great to see the oldies on top form, enjoying their day.

Best Veteran In Show

BIS Patton’s Ir Ch Lesandnic Ludovic, Breed: Dachshund (Wire-Haired) - what a super little dog! Took my eye for his balance and lack of exaggeration, as well as his ‘look at me’ attitude. 8 years old, masculine head with keen expression. Good depth of body and super strong level topline. In excellent well-textured coat and condition. Went around the ring as though he owned it.

RBIS Oliver’s Ch Kerrykeel Aobheann, Breed: Irish Terrier - by no means a flashy dog, she scored here on her lovely lines, super feminine head and sparky expression, and her soundness. Well proportioned with correct substance, muscled up and moving accurately. In good coat. Showed alertly, totally in tune with her handler.

Gundog Veteran Group

G1 Henshaw & Goodchild’s Ir Ch/Ch Sharnphilly Vice Versa with Peteshe Sgwc, Breed: Pointer - 7 years male with a typy head, flowing lines and no exaggerations. Well-constructed throughout, he was shown in hard condition and consequently moved accurately and with drive to win this high quality group of veterans.

 G2 Mcrory’s Sh Ch Millroseglen Make My Day with Meadovillabs, Breed: Retriever (Labrador) – totally unfazed by a rush from the breed ring, this 11 year old dog could show some of the youngsters how to do it. Masculine head, clean lines and an athletic body, shown in good coat and condition, and moved soundly.

G3 Whiting & Cops’ Locksheath Black Ice, Breed: Gordon Setter -7 years male, very attractive masculine head, correctly angulated with deep body, he presented a very balanced picture. Well muscled and in good condition with a gleaming coat, he really covered the ground on the move.

G4 Clarkson’s Drumkilty Jemima Puddledug JW, Breed: Retriever (Golden) – I had already judged this girl in the breed classes. 9 years old, she is of lovely type. Very feminine with a lovely head. Well-made throughout, her profuse coat made her look a slightly weighty on the day. Moved soundly but was flagging a little at the end of the day.

 Hound Veteran Group

G1 Patton’s Ir Ch Lesandnic Ludovic, Breed: Dachshund (Wire-Haired) - BIS. As above

G2 Raymond’s Ch/ger Ch Dialynne Peter Piper Ww17, Breed: Beagle -9 year old male. I’ve always admired the clean and simple lines of this breed, and this boy not only had them but has hung on to them. Strongly built and well-muscled for endurance he also has a gorgeous all-male head. Moved well from strong hindquarters and kept his firm topline.

G3 Price’s Ch Wheelspin Silver Shadow among Silkdance JW VW, Breed: Whippet –8 year old fawn dog with a beautiful outline, a series of flowing curves. Masculine head with soft expression, correctly boned, well-made and balanced throughout. Moved soundly

G4 Melbourne & Hirst’s Diheath Really Cosmic at Kejana, Breed: Basset Hound – 8 years male. Another with a clean outline, giving an impression of strength and stamina. Masculine head with good leathers, muscular neck, firm topline and well carried stern. Well ribbed up with good depth. Powerful action on the move.

Terrier Veteran Group

G1 Oliver’s Ch Kerrykeel Aobheann, Breed: Irish Terrier RBVIS – see above

G2 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Come Dancing with Macmoon OSW JW ShCEx ShCM, Breed: Cairn Terrier – 8 years male with a super head and alert expression. Correct bone and angulation, level topline and well set tail. Good depth of chest. Very good dark grey brindle coat, shown in good condition. Moved out smartly.

G3 Moffatt’s Kargonstaffs Kokoro, Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier - 8 years, very appealing expression, well-shaped head with good ears. Good reach of neck and correct angulation. Nicely boned with straight front. In good coat and shown in hard condition. Moved smartly and accurately

G4 Rooney’s Ir Ch Sjobolyckans Offensive Vanilla Coke, Breed: Dandie Dinmont Terrier – 7 years male. Very smart and active although carrying a little extra weight. Masculine head, well shaped eyes, Good bone and front, correct topline. Plenty of coat . Moved well from strong hindquarters.

Pastoral Group

G1 Jones & Kirkwood’s Ch/ir/nld/int/dk/bl/ger Ch Vandreem Imperial Kazhiya JW, Breed: Samoyed – 7 years male., immaculately presented and showing his heart out. Profuse dense coat contributed to the balance of his outline. Typy head with flat skull and excellent pigmentation. Well made throughout with a deep body. Super feet. Moved with style and drive.

G2 Roberts’ Ch Magical Love Elvikam JW OSW VW (Imp Pol), Breed: Australian Shepherd – 8 years, she was beautifully presented, looking very smart and youthful. Just didn’t have the sparkle of 1. Shown in good coat and condition, and correctly made throughout, she moved well with good extension.

G3 Preston’s Towernaglen Catch A Star over Willinda (IKC), Breed: Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) -7 years; this lady was very neat and unexaggerated. Most appealing head and expression. Correct angulation and bone. Well ribbed up with firm topline. Showed alertly and moved well.

G4 McArdle’s Int/ir Ch Blamorder Jelly Bean Queen for Slievemac Ir Jch, Breed: Collie (Smooth) Looking really good at 9 years old, she showed a neat and balanced outline with an excellent topline. Typical feminine head. Nicely constructed and shown in good condition. Attentive to her handler, she moved accurately.

Toy Veteran Group

G1 Pike’s Ch Rhodenash Stella Dreams of Eivisah JW, Breed: Pug – very smart lady, 7 years. Nice size with compact cobby body . Feminine head with neat ears. Straight front and good feet. Well angulated at both ends. Good twist to tail. Moved extremely well.

G2 Moore’s Ir/int Ch Assisi Tsaritsa at Rozenyas An Ch17 Cw18 Cjw16 Cen W Ir/int Vch Jch, Breed: Miniature Pinscher - looking very good for her 10 years, carrying just a little extra weight. Very typy with appealing feminine head and expression. Correct angulation with good forechest, deep body, tail carried well. Moved soundly and with drive.

G3 Hamilton & Hogg’s Kilbarchan's Moonwalker at Hamhoggs VW, Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - 9 year old Blenheim male, in good condition with plenty of coat and good feathering. Masculine head with level skull, well set ears and large round eyes. Good pigmentation. Correct angulation, spring of rib and topline. Moved well.

G4 Mulligan’s Donocielo Seraphina, Breed: Bolognese (Mr D A & Mrs C M Mulligan) – 11 years and can still move like a youngster.Typical feminine head. Correct angulation front and rear. Very profuse coat. Carrying a little extra weight which didn’t affect her movement.

Utility Veteran Group

G1 Neath-Coyne & Baker’s Ch Buffrey Incognito by Dalleaf JW VW Swiss Vch, Breed: Dalmatian –10 year old, all male, stunning on the move. Super head and expression with good pigmentation. Good front assembly and forechest, correct depth of body. Firm topline and strong hindquarters from which he moved with drive.

 G2 Andrew-Tempest’s Ir Ch Qanda Lhi's U-Bzanba at Mikudi (Imp Ita) Cw23, Cen23, Breed: Tibetan Terrier - 8 years, she has a lovely outline of flowing curves. Feminine head, good angulation at both ends, firm topline which she held on the move. Shown in excellent coat and condition, and moved with style and drive.

G3 Jackson & Wright’s Akai Hana A’hikeru Black Tekehiro, Breed: Japanese Shiba Inu – eye-catching 8 years male with a lovely outline and lots of attitude. Masculine well-shaped head, excellent front assembly. Well-boned with super feet. Short deep body. In good coat. Moved soundly.

G4 Thompson’s Susu Prince Charming ShCEx VW, Breed: Tibetan Spaniel – 7 years male, very balanced and shown in good coat and condition. Typical head with alert expression. Very well angulated at both ends. Good topline and tailset. Body of correct length. Moved well.

Working Veteran Group

G1 Murphy’s Ch/ir/rus Ch/gr Rus Ch/bel/int Ch Marouissa Wish You Were Here at Kinelarty Cw23 Jch, Breed: Bernese Mountain Dog -8 years male with great ring presence. Masculine head with very kind expression. Stong neck, well angulated front and rear. Deep body with well-fitting elbows. Plenty of bone. Very light on his feet with a lovely free-flowing action.

G2 Simms’ Nld Ch Snowmists Isaac at Arcticskies JW ShCM VW (Imp Can) Benelux W18, Breed: Siberian Husky – 9 years male of correct substance, presenting a workmanlike picture. Good head and expression, strong neck, good front assembly and depth of chest. Well angulated. Moved with style and drive and showed alertly.

G3 Stewart’s Ir/int Ch Ferncliffe Eykel at Moymuklemury Jch Cjw18 Cw25 Cvw25 Vet Ch, Breed: Giant Schnauzer – 8 years upstanding male. Super head with correct planes and bushy brows. Well-muscled neck, well-angulated and deep chest. Not in his best coat today. Really strode out, looking stunning on the move.

G4 Bailey’s Akna Dale **, Breed: Canadian Eskimo Dog – 9 years with sweet feminine head. Correct front assembly, good topline and bend of stifle. Rather lacking in condition but moved soundly .
