Bath Canine Society
I would like to thank the Committee of Bath for inviting me to judge and their hospitality. Lunch was delicious. Thanks to my stewards, Phil and Jan who were very efficient. Finally thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs and the sportmanship displayed ringside.Decisions were tight in several classes. Fields have always been one of my favourite breeds and todays entry was filled with quality dogs with happy personalities and certainly fit for purpose. Considering the depth of quality in the breed, (last time I also had a quality entry) its disappointing that they regularly get overlooked in group competition in favour of the more flashy gundogs. However I was very pleased to learn my BPIB did get in the puppy group shortlist, so well done.
Dogs-
Veteran.(2). 1st and BVD, Davies Elgert lets dance at Benbreac, lovely to see him again as he was my RCC last time I judged and was close up again for RCC but felt he didn’t quite have the positive movement of the younger boys today. Handsome head with chiselling, kind eye, good through neck and shoulders, strong boned, good angulation front and rear, shown in hard muscular condition and good coat. Presents lovely outline and belies his age. 2nd Harris Kingsmist Panther, another who belies his age, and a quality dog, well boned and balanced throughout. Excellent forequarters, good spring of rib and well muscled rear with strength in second thigh. In great bloom and moved with drive but I preferred head of 1st.
Puppy (3) It was lovely to see all the puppies happy and playing in the ring. What characters they were. 1st BPD Holgates Nadavin Avyaan, 8 months old liver boy, well balanced outline, pleasing head with gentle eye and expression, developing nicely in forequarters, ribs well back, strong rear and hocks. Moved with drive when he did settle holding topline and tailset. Good feet. Was so close up for BPIB but in final challenge, the girl was more together moving, but I’m sure they will swap many times. 2nd Harris Thandiwe Mirrorball, 11 months another quality puppy, presents nice outline stacked and moving, handsome head with noble expression, long neck leading to well placed shoulders, body maturing, strong boned, also moved with drive holding correct topline and tailset, just preferred the rear and feet of 1st today. Very well handled and shown in lovely bloom. 3rd Young and Nunns Brynnyth Elysian. Completed a promising trio, will follow their progress.
Junior, (1) N Avyaan, see puppy.
Post grad. (2,1a) 1st Housemand Flyenpyg First Sight, handsome head with kind eye and expression, today I felt he was carrying a bit of weight on his shoulders which made him look bit stuffy round the neck which he isn’t, good through front and ribs go well back, strong loin and hocks, well boned and muscled, tends to fly his tail a bit but overall a nice lad.
Limit.(3) excellent class. 1st and RCC Hardings Kingmist remember me JW, one look at this lads head and I think Eternal Knight, classic noble look, chiselling below kind eyes and moderate stop. Clean strong neck leading to well made front, well off for bone and well ribbed back. Strong loin and good hocks with strength in second thigh. Presents balanced outline stacked and moving. I feel his best is yet to come so lost out on finish of CC winner, but his day will come. 2nd Tyes Irisbel the greatest showman at Tymora JW unlucky to meet 1 today as he is also a quality lad. Handsome head, lean with moderate stop and soft eye, well balanced all through body, good spring of rib and depth of chest, well muscled rear and strong loin and thighs. In great coat and was really splitting hairs between these 2, just slightly preferred head and expression of 1st. Moved out with purpose. Should make up. 3rd Porter, Russell and Palms Bogdogs Brynnyth at Winsbrook.
Open (4, 1a). Another excellent class. 1st, CC and BOB. Mosedale and Rossiters Sh Ch Elgert disco inferno at Knightsbay, wow what a cracker. This gorgeous boy has come on since I last judged him. Well balanced all through and holds a lovely outline. Good depth of chest, ribs well back and strong loin. Well boned and tight feet. Moved with flair and show attitude and his black coat gleamed in the sun. A worthy champion. 2nd Davies Sh Ch Gadhelic rum tum tigger to Benbreac, another worthy champion, quality dog all through, also presents balanced outline. Handsome head, good neck and depth of chest, strong rear, well muscled up, in lovely coat but didn’t have the show attitude of 1st today and wasn’t as positive on the move as limit winner.
3rd Murrays Navadin Wallace.

Feminine head, long lean muzzle, well made front and rear, good depth of chest and well spring ribs with strong loin and second thigh. Holds topline stacked and moving.
