Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge today and my two wonderful, efficient stewards. Also thank you to those exhibitors who entered today. It has been almost 4 years since I judged the breed last and majority of the dogs today were new to me. It is difficult to give an overview of the breed as a whole as entries are not as high as they used to be. My main observation from today is that some are longer in body than ideal and short in leg. All dogs were well presented, a couple of the younger dogs lacked confidence but temperaments on the whole were good.

PD(1,0)

1st) Saich’s Lindcoly My Rockafella - 9m, brown & white parti colour. He wasn’t the easiest to assess today as he was quite unsettled, but he showed glimpses of a pleasing outline. Wedge head, which is developing nicely, personally I would prefer a darker eye although his eyes are oval and well set. Triangular ears which he unfortunately was reluctant to use but they are well set. Moderately angulated throughout, well boned and catlike feet. In excellent coat which is of good texture. When he did settle, he showed positive movement which was straight coming and going and without any exaggeration. A promising puppy just needs some confidence.

JD (1,0)

1st) Blight’s Longsdale’s Take It Easy - 12m, sable & white parti. Well grown but is under the measure. He was totally full of mischief but had confidence by the bucket full! Medium large, broad head which is wedge shaped & moderately defined stop. Dark oval eyes which are obliquely set and excellent pigment. Triangular ears which are well set and used to advantage. Clean neck well set into shoulders, well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm. Plenty of bone, straight front and catlike feet. Totally out of coat today but what he did have was of good texture. Well ribbed up and short coupled. Moderately angulated rear quarters, well-muscled and in excellent body condition. Brisk mover, straight and true coming and going.

YD (1,0)

1st) Dreschler’s Longsdale’s Derun Around at Jeansway - 14m, black of good size. Wedge shaped head, oval eye which are well set. Small triangular ears which are well set which he used to advantage. Clean neck of good length leading on moderately angulated shoulders. Ample bone, straight front and catlike feet. Well sprung ribs, level topline and tail high set. In firm condition. Well angulated rear with no exaggeration. Brisk side action, particularly good front action but at this moment he is a touch close behind.

LD (4,0)

1st) Taylor’s Tispitza’s Futterwacken - 4yr old black, all male who I have admired ringside and has really come into his own since I last saw him. He presents the most pleasing outline, compact and short coupled and nothing exaggerated. The best of heads, masculine without being coarse. Wedge shaped head of good proportions, broad almost flat skull and moderately defined stop. Oval eye which are well set and of good colour. Triangular ears which are high set. Neck of good length well set into the best of shoulders which are moderately sloping with the corresponding return of upper arm. Straight front, excellent bone and the neatest of feet. Well ribbed up, short loin and moderately angulated rear quarters. In the most fantastic condition both body and muscle tone. Excellent coat of good texture. Level topline and high set tail. Straight and true coming and going, with brisk side action moved just at the right pace. He pulled it out the bag today to win the CC. His 1st, I will continue to watch his career with interest.

2nd) Rogerson’s Cadasaro Georgie with Nosregor (IKC) - almost 2 yr old cream. Wedge shaped head, oval eye which are obliquely set. Excellent ears of good shape which are high set. Neck of good length and well set into shoulders. Moderately angulated throughout, well ribbed up and loin of good length. Ample bone, straight front and catlike feet. Good depth of chest. Not quite the coat of 1st today but it’s of excellent texture. Brisk movement without exaggeration. Straight and true coming and going. Unlucky to meet 1st who was on top form today but very deserving of the RCC. Another who I will follow with interest.

3rd) Barnes & King’s Izlou All You Knead Is Love

OD (4,1)

This class was of mixed breed type but all 3 are quality males who could change places anytime.

1st)  O’Leary’s Cadasaro Gerhard - Litter brother to the RCC winner. White male who scores for type. Presents a compact outline. Excellent head, oval eye which are well set. Triangular ears which could be set slightly higher. Neck of good length, clean and well set into moderate shoulders. Plenty of bone, catlike feet and straight front. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Moderately angulated rear. Totally moderate throughout. Level topline, high set tail. Excellent mover, straight and true coming and going with effortless side action. Not in the best of coats today. Unfortunately, he did not show himself to advantage in the challenge and lacked enthusiasm.

2nd) Chapman’s Kitsune Notorious - Very different breed type to 1st and larger all through, not too big hasten to add. Sable in good coat of harsh texture. Wedge shaped head, broad skull and defined stop. Dark eye of good shape and well set. Clean neck of good length. Well laid shoulders, ample bone and straight front. Not quite the feet of first. Well ribbed up and good length of loin. Moderately angulated rear quarters. Level topline, high set tail. In firm condition with good muscle tone. Sound mover, with good side action. Handled to advantage to get the best out of him.

3rd) Blight’s Ch/Ir/Int Ch Izlou Float My Boat

PB (3,1)

1st) O’Leary’s Cadasaro Hanna - Ultra feminine sable from the top drawer. The best of heads, oval obliquely set eye. Small triangular ears which are high set and used to advantage. Neck of good length set onto moderately sloping shoulders, good return of upper arm. Excellent bone, straight front and catlike, neat feet. Good length of loin and well sprung ribs. Her coat makes her look slightly longer cast but hands on dispels that. Level topline and high set tail. Excellent rear quarters. Displays straight movement, coming and going and excellent side action. Surely a star of the future, will watch her career with interest. BPIB.

2nd) Saich’s Lindcoly My Cinderella - Cream & white parti who was rather unsettled. Slightly stretched proportion which didn’t give the outline of 1st. Feminine head, oval eye although I would prefer them slightly darker. When she used her ears, they were well shaped and of good shape. Moderately angulated but not the front of 1st. Developing nicely through the body. Not the easiest to assess her as she really wasn’t happy today. Moved ok.

JB (2,1)

1st Taylor’s Tispitza’s Avada Kedavra - My star of the day. 15m black who pleases the eye with her well-balanced outline. Feminine throughout but not lacking any substance. Excellent head, wedge shaped with almost flat skull, moderately defined stop. Dark oval eyes which are obliquely set. Small, high set triangular ears which she uses well. Neck of good length, well set into moderately sloping shoulders. Straight front, just the right amount of bone and the best of feet. Good depth to body, well ribbed up and short loin leading onto the best of hindquarters. In excellent condition, well-muscled and firm. In excellent coat without being overdone, harsh topcoat. Her construction allowed her to move as soundly as she did. Straight coming and going with excellent side action. BCC and just had the edge over the DCC in the challenge today to win BOB.

PGB (2,0)

Both of very different breed type.

1st) Nicholls’ Izlou Muffin Compares for Shyllar - Petite black, who is ultra feminine but well within the standard. Beautiful head, correct shape and the best of eyes which are oval and well set. Ears of good size, triangular and carried high. Moderately angulation throughout and a good spring of rib. Has the substance to match her size with just the right amount of bone. Excellent catlike feet. In excellent condition and turned out to perfection. Moved soundly from all angles.

2nd) Purves’ Kitsune Cream Fudge - Not quite the head qualities and larger all through that 1st. Moderately angulated, ample bone and straight front. Not quite the foot shape of 1st. Well ribbed up and short loin. Well-muscled quarters. Level top line and high set tail. In firm condition. Well handled to get the best out of her. Moved soundly.

LB (3,1)

1st) Barnes & King’s Izlou Gossip Girl JW - Cream who catches your eye with her balanced and shape and is the ultimate show girl. Whilst she had left her clothes at home today, she had nothing to hide and you could see just how well she is made. Beautifully made head. Oval, obliquely set dark eye. Small ears of good shape and high set. Clean neck leading onto the well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket and good ribbing. Short loin and moderately angular hindquarters. She has a straight front and plenty of bone with catlike feet. What coat she did have was of excellent texture. Her well-made construction showed in her movement which was straight on the up and back with excellent side gate. A strong contender in the challenge today.

2nd) Hutchings’ Jansanleis The Magic Piper with Jenerelena - Another quality bitch, who appealed. Ever so slightly longer cast than 1st. Feminine wedge head, oval eye which are well set. Triangular ears which are high set. Neck of good length well set into well laid shoulders. Straight, well boned front. Well ribbed up and moderately angulated hindquarters. In excellent coat and well-muscled in firm condition. Level top line and high set tail. Moved soundly. Unlucky to come against 1st but close up.

OB (4,0)

1st) Moir, Moir & Mackenzie’s Jansanleis Rave JW - Heading this class of quality bitches was this 2yr old cream. Presenting very pleasing outline which is well balanced. Wedge shaped head, moderate stop and almost flat skull. High set ears of good shape. Eye of good shape and well set. Liked her length of neck leading onto wonderful front assembly. Moderate angulation throughout and nothing overdone. Straight front, ample bone and good feet. Well ribbed up and good length of loin. Well-muscled rear quarters and in fantastic body. Level top line and well-set tail. Moved as I would expect from her well-made construction. Straight coming and going with brisk, effortless side gate.

2nd) Roberts’ Cwrtafon Cosmic Love - giving the winner a fair tussle was this 2-yr old black. I particularly liked this bitches outline, totally balanced, square and good length of leg. Feminine head of good proportions, not quite the eye shape of 1st and well-shaped ears. Moderately short neck well set into good shoulders, scored in front assembly with plenty of bone and good feet. Good ribbing and short loin. Moderately angulated hindquarters. In excellent condition with good muscle tone. Level top line and tail high set. Super sound on the move, with brisk action.

3rd) O’Leary’s Cadasaro Dreams Big

VB (1,0)

1st Moir, Moir & Mackenzie’s Jansanleis Mayhem JW VW - this 14-yr old cream belies her age, she is in superb condition. I have admired her from the ringside since seeing her for the first time as a 6m old puppy and was pleased to finally have the opportunity to judge her. She presents a square, balanced outline without any exaggeration. Feminine head, dark well-set eyes of correct shape. She still has full dentition. Neat ears which are high set, and she uses to advantage. Clean neck of good length leading onto the best of shoulders, well ribbed up and short coupled. Her hindquarters are moderately angulated, and she is well muscled and in first class condition. Level top line and well-set tail. Although not an abundance of coat she had enough, and it meant you could truly appreciate her wonderfully balanced outline. She still moves so soundly. Handled to absolute perfection. Today she was my RCC winner and BVIB. A credit to her owners and absolute joy to judge.
