BRITISH UTILITY BREEDS ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW – SATURDAY – 6TH DECEMBER 2025

JUDGE – MISS BARBARA P STRINGER (INCALUX)

Thank you to the Committee for the invitation to judge at this Prestigious Show, The Stewards for all their hard work and most of all to the Exhibitors who entered their dogs for me to assess.

It is 3 ½ years since I last Judged TT’s, and I went into this appointment with a completely open mind. Coat presentation overall is excellent, though I did come across some coats that were in my opinion, overly coarse. There were far too many exhibits who were extremely overweight which adversely affected their movement.

I was disappointed to find several exhibits with incorrect mouths, teeth misplaced and or missing. Pigmentation generally has improved. There were quite a few mucky eyes.

There are still too many exhibits that do not comply to the Breed Standard, being too long in loin with legs that are too short. Having said that I was delighted with my main winners.

MINOR PUPPY DOG – 2

1st – Moore’s – Silgarhi Dhanesh – Black – 7 mths – Well balanced young man. Good for size and shape. Strong head with plenty of underjaw, and dark, well placed eyes. Well placed shoulder and hind angulation. Somewhat excitable on the move.

2nd – Millington’s – Tiamastaes Black Orchid – Tricolour – 6 mths. Good size and shape, still very raw and a little iratic on the move. Just needs to grow into himself.

PUPPY DOG - 3

1st & BPD – Green’s – Silgarhi Catch the Wind to Verony – Tricolour – 11 mths – Substantial male. Great expression. Masculine head with a huge black nose and well set dark eyes. Good length of neck. Forechest still developing. Fair spring of rib. Decent angulation fore and aft, slightly loose in front today, but clearly enjoying himself. Good tailset and huge feet.

2nd – Witham & Parkes – Silgarhi Colour My World – Gld Sbl – 11mths – litter brother to 1st, and splitting hairs between the 2. Just felt that he did not show himself as well on the move today being slightly longer in loin and flying his tail a little.

3rd – Marston’s – Boshanti Walter

Junior Dog – 4 (1 Abs)

1st – James-Collins & Collins – Remmus Under My Spell – Blk/Wht – 11mths – Eye catching youngster. Good to go over. Loved his head and attitude, proper resolute expression. Reverse scissor bite. Darkest pigment. Good depth of brisket, short coupled, balanced angulation. High set tail. Moves out well.

2nd – Pettit – Rogspa’s Got Yer Back – Blk/Wht – 15mths. Another good one. Strong masculine head. Sturdily built. Excellent topline and tailset. Slightly upright in shoulder and not quite settled on the move today.

3rd – Laffing’s – Taxiki Causin’ Chaos

Yearling Dog – 4

1st – Kemp – Waterley Stand N Deliver for Yanlan JW – Blk. Just my type! Compact, square in profile. Excellent double coat, presented to a high standard. Slightly longer in muzzle and would prefer a stronger underjaw, but that does not detract from his arrogant noble expression. Still needs to drop in chest a little. Ground covering movement. Overall an exciting future prospect.

2nd – Lewis & Miles – Waterley Masterpiece – Tri. Preferred his head to 1. Slightly blunter muzzle, broad skull with well placed dark eyes. Good length of neck. A little upright in shoulder. Huge feet. Short coupled. Nice turn of stifle with low set hocks. Moves with purpose, coat coming in well.

3rd – Pettit – Rogspa’s Got Yer Back

Graduate Dog – 5

1st – Vernall’s – Renvall’s Neon Leon – Blk. Somewhat underdressed today, this rangier boy has a masculine head, good length of neck and well angulated shoulder. Enough depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Good turn of stifle. Huge feet. Excellent muscular condition which shows in his ground covering movement.

2nd – Andrews & Price – Lasang Rider On The Storm - Blk/Wht. Another one in great condition. Not quite the angulation of 1, but balanced. Preferred his more classic head and overall shape to 1, but his movement was not so positive, pinning in a little behind.

3rd – Mannion & Jarvis – Waterley White Lotus

Post Graduate Dog – 4

1st – Andrew’s – The Midas Touch – Gld/Sbl - Surprisingly square under his huge, profuse double coat. Nice sized male, well muscled. Super head, really dark pigment. Deep chest, well sprung ribs and correctly angulated fore and aft. Moved well with plenty of reach and drive.

2nd – Vernall’s – Renvall Minter Wonderland -Wht/Blk – close up to 1, not quite as mature but very nice all through. Slightly larger mould, well presented and handled. Preferred head of 1. Well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Good hind angulation with well set hocks. Level topline and well set tail. Could do with losing a few pounds to his advantage on the move.

3rd – Torlay’s – Smart Dezine

Limit Dog – 8

1st & RDCC – Barron’s – Araki Shadow Storm – Blk/Wht – My eye was immediately drawn to this youngster, I have seen him in the ring a couple of times, but I felt his movement was more positive today. Shown in super coat, but under all that glamour is a good sized dog in excellent physical condition. Classic head, dark eyes, broad skull, good dentition and strong underjaw. Plenty of forechest. Well angulated shoulder. Well ribbed back, strong loin, well turned second thigh. Topline held well on the move and tail well carried.

2nd – Cooper & Purslow’s – Ahgainst All Odds – close up to class winner and construction wise, not dissimilar but just not quite as positive on the move today.

3rd – Buckles – Karshok Amra Jetsang

Open Dog – 8 (1 Abs)

1st DCC & BOB – Thurston’s – Jalren Midnight Runner JW - Gold – Can’t believe this boy is not already a Champion, I’m sure it won’t be long. Very dense double coat of good texture, very well presented. Handsome head, arrogant expression with the correct and required, black pigment and proper dark eyes. Strong underjaw, well marked stop. Super square appearance, good lay back of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good length of neck developed forechest and good spring of rib. Well muscled. Massive feet. Level topline, held well on the move. Strides out covering the ground effortlessly.

2nd – Armstrong’s – Rigaze Dalai Gartok at Tizzycharm -Gld/Sbl/Wht. A favourite of mine. Coat of good texture, well presented. He has a well proportioned, strong masculine head, good pigment and excellent dentition Well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm. Good bend of stifle and low set hocks. Sadly he was just carrying too much weight today which adversely affected his movement.

3rd – Rudderham’s – Dejaru Masquerade

VETERAN DOG -2

1st & BV – Cooper’s– Ch Araki Justa Boot Perfect – Blk – Slightly taller boy of really square appearance. In terrific physical condition, well muscled. Strong masculine head, broad muzzle with excellent dentition and defined under jaw. Good width of skull, enough neck, good shoulder and depth of brisket. Well ribbed back. Strong rear with good bend of stifle and low set hocks. In mature double coat. Moved well. Pleased to hear that he was later placed in the Veteran Group.

2nd – Brunell & Meidell Hafsoe – Int/Nor Ch Dhoki Apsos Jackpot Jah-Zar – Blk – Mature boy in a slightly smaller mould. Sturdy and of overall square appearance. Super head with well placed dark eyes. Compact and sturdy. Unfortunate to meet 1 on such good form today.

Special Beginners Dog – 2 (1Abs)

1st – Mannion & Jarvis – Waterley White Lotus – Substantial boy, shown in good coat. Well handled. Strong balanced head, I would prefer a slightly more defined stop. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Would benefit from being moved a little steadier pace, in my opinion.

Minor Puppy Bitch – 8 (2 Abs)

1st – Moore’s – Silgarhi Dorinda – Gld. – 7mths. Delightful young lady, loved her enthusiasm and naughtiness. Feminine head, well balanced throughout, very typey, though still quite raw. Big flat feet. I shall watch her progress with interest.

2nd - Rutley’s – Waterley Time To Shine At Javey – Blk/Wht – 7mths – Very close up to 1, just would prefer slightly more layback of shoulder. Excellent presentation and well handled. Good shape, short coupled, great tailset. Moves out well.

3rd – Elvidge, Webb & Davies – Waterley Sweet Inspiration

Puppy Bitch – 5 (1 Abs)

1st & BPB & BPIB – Stickley – Silgarhi Chiquitita At Walkamile – Blk – 7mths – Absolutely gorgeous young lady, entered the ring like she owned it. Exuberant and playful, an absolute delight. Compact shape, needs to mature throughout, but so much promise. Lovely head of correct proportions, well placed eyes and marked stop. Very enthusiastic on the move, needs to tighten up in front, but she’s only a baby.

2nd – Rudderham’s - Dejaru Only Make Believe – Blk - 10 mths - Another youngster with lots of promise, many of the same attributes apply. Well made puppy with a good head and balanced angulations. Unfortunate to meet 1 on such good form today.

3rd – Rutley’s – Waterley Time To Shine At Javey

Junior Bitch – 9

A Challenging Class

1st – Marley & Thirwell’s – Myrlea The London Look – 13mths – Blk – Compact and square in appearance. Maintains a great shape, both standing and on the move. Classic head of good proportions. Tail carried strongly over her back, at all times. Excellent build with good forechest and well sprung ribs. Well laid shoulders and good bed of stifle. Well down on her pasterns. Big feet. Moves with great confidence.

2nd – Hadlow’s – Quidditch What A Star – 14 Mths – Blk/Wht - Well built typey young lady. Broad, yet feminine skull. Good underjaw. Well laid shoulder and strong rear end. Maintains shape well on the move. Very promising youngster.

3rd – Hays & Lay-Flurrie – Gser Jinpa Namkha To Gajarkot

Yearling Bitch – 4 (1 Abs)

1st – Johnson’s – Waterley Rumour Has It At Ellmarvern – Black/Wht – Decent type of good general shape and size. Good head with typical expression. Nicely made throughout, balanced angulation, though I’d prefer slightly more length of neck. Well ribbed back. Good high set tail, carried well. Nice steady movement.

2nd – Armstrong & Hogg’s – Colji’s Blackout Bettie – Blk – at the lower end of the size scale, but still within standard. Despite her small stature, everything was in proportion. Head of correct proportions with the darkest of pigmentation, resolute expression. Could do with slightly more length of neck and a better shoulder angulation, rather loose in front.

3rd – Ritchie’s – Araki The Devil’s Candy

Graduate Bitch – 7

1st – King’s – Karamyst Showstopper JW – Blk/Wht – Profuse double coat presented in immaculate condition. Her excellent Breed type & construction cannot be denied, though for me there is a little too much of her. Strong head, good dentition, marked stop. Just the right length of neck. Decent shoulder. Well-muscled rear. Level topline, fair depth of chest and good spring of rib. Good tailset. Huge feet. A very balanced girl. On the move her effortless , ground covering stride is a joy to watch.

2nd - Low’s – Routenburn Kikimora – Gld/Sbl – Smaller girl. Very nice to go over. Pleasing head, of good proportions, dark pigmentation, strong underjaw and good width to muzzle. Good angulation fore and aft. Good topline and tailset. Large feet. Somewhat erratic on the move.

3rd – Dyer’s – Waterley Easy On The Eye JW

Post Graduate Bitch – 10

1st & BCC – Andrew’s – Lasang Been Banged – Blk/Wht - I have to mention, what a dreadful name for such a gorgeous girl! Dare I say an “old fashioned type” to my mind, she epitomises what a TT should be. Nothing overdone. Strong head with defined stop, well placed dark eyes and excellent dentition. Well laid shoulder. Excellent coupling and ribbing and well angulated rear. Low set hocks and good tailset. In great physical condition. Free mover, true fore and aft, covers the ground with ease, even at a slower pace. Very much “my type” and just what I was looking for today.

2nd – Cherry’s – Lynces More Than A Dream – Blk – Close up to first and equally well constructed. Moves well. Coat somewhat lacking, at present and could be better presented. Nevertheless, a good example of the Breed.

3rd – Davies – Pinrow Chequered Diva

Limit Bitch – 14 (3 Abs)

1st – Erskine-Jones & Watson – Unohoo Magical Maddie - Gld/Wht – Lovely girl, so full of character. Nothing exaggerated. Classic shape standing and on the move. Feminine head with dark pigment. Strong underjaw, well marked stop. Balanced angulation throughout, well developed forechest and good spring of rib. Strong level topline and good tailset.

2nd – Rutley’s – Araki Not On Your Nelly At Javey JW – Blk/Wht – splitting hairs between these two. Really square appearance. Strong yet feminine head, broad muzzle with excellent dentition and defined under jaw. Good width of skull, enough neck, good shoulder and depth of brisket. Well ribbed back. Strong rear with good bend of stifle and low set hocks. In mature coat, beautifully presented. Moved well just not quite with the same pizzaz as 1.

3rd – Gilbert’s – Gandaki Rinzen Belle

Open Bitch – 7

Absolutely stunning class, any one of these girls could have won, everyone of them is an excellent example of the Breed. My places were very much based on their performance “on the day”.

1st & RBCC - Green’s – Verony Mystic Charm – Blk – Classic type of bitch who is one of my favourites. Excellent well presented mature double coat. Very feminine yet strong head with good under jaw. Correct dentition. Lovely dark, well placed eyes, correct ratio of muzzle to skull. And a really arrogant expression. Compact build. Good shoulder angulation and enough reach of neck. Good spring of ribs, allowing plenty of heart room. Well turned stifle. Low set hocks and nice big feet.

2nd – Willoughby’s – Ch. Palshar All That Glitters JW –Another that ticked all the boxes. Classic shape. She is compact and sturdy, not exaggerated in anyway. Many of the same comments apply and it is clear to see why she has done so much winning. Splitting hairs.

3rd – Wilson’s – Djankay Starlight Fair

VETERAN BITCH – 6 (1 Abs)

1st – Bateman – Ch. Snoanda Wizadora – Blk – So pleased that this girl has achieved her well deserved Champion status, a real favourite of mine. Head of correct proportions with excellent strength to under jaw and wonderful expression. Darkest of eyes. Good shoulder and hind angulation. Short coupled, super square in profile. Unfortunately she was carrying too much weight today which was reflected in her movement.

2nd – Vernall’s – Renvall Kiss My Aspidistra – Tri-Colour – I Adore this girl. Profuse double coat of correct texture. Superb head, strong underjaw and the darkest of pigment. Well placed eyes, plenty of stop, broad yet feminine muzzle with real strength to under jaw. Good reach of neck carried well over good shoulders, with a good return of upper arm. Strong backend, but somewhat lacking in muscle. Again, carrying too much weight today.

3rd – Hadlow’s – Quidditch A Touch Of Class

Special Beginners Bitch – 4

1st & BSB – Dyer’s - Waterley Easy On The Eye JW – Blk/Wht - Strong girl in good physical condition, well presented coat. Very well handled. Balanced head, well placed eyes. Good stop. Decent length of neck. Balanced angulation fore and aft.

2nd – Hayes & Lay-Flurrie – Gser Jinpa Namkha To Gajarkot – Gld/White - Ultra feminine bitch compact in shape. Sympathetically handled, Good expression with dark pigment and well placed eyes. Needs to strengthen in muscle. Coat coming in well. A little erratic on the move.
