Windsor Dog Show Society

Breed: Tibetan Terrier

I would like to extend my thanks to the committee of Windsor for the invitation to judge at this prestigious show and to all the exhibitors who allowed me to judge their beautiful dogs. When I last judged this breed 6 years ago I was suitably impressed with the overall quality of the breed. However, this time I did find several exhibits with pale or amber eyes which I unfortunately did have to penalise in the larger classes. I was also quite perturbed about fronts - several exhibits had overly straight shoulders and some were shallow chested which affected both balance & movement.

We mustn't forget what our breed was originally bred for.

I do hope there are improvements in these areas.

On a positive note, temperaments were excellent and the vast majority of exhibits were beautifully presented with healthy coats and skin and good dentition, a credit to their owners.

The day was swelteringly hot and humid which did affect some dogs and some classes could have easily had a different outcome on a different day.

VETERAN DOG (2)

1. Plummer & Bingham's Silgarhi Holy Smoke To Tetsikarma JW

7 year old black of excellent size. Strong neck carrying a masculine head with marked stop and well developed lower jaw with strong muzzle. Well constructed front assembly and stifles well bent. Nicely ribbed back with good depth to brisket. Just a tad long in loin but a worthy class winner.

2. White's Araki Fabulous Figtal At Trytez

8 yr old of generous height. Balanced square outline standing. Pleasing in head proportions, level topline, coat has excellent texture and movement was steady. Big flat feet and straight legs.I would prefer more spring of rib and broader front to enhance overall balance and type.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (2)

1. Harrison's Boshay Bootiful Momo

8 months old of excellent type. Lovely square outline, sturdy and well-balanced for age. Pleasing head with dark expressive eyes, adequate neck. Particularly liked his front construction, great shoulder placement and length of upper arm. Moved with ease and confidence, full of attitude. Coat in excellent condition, promising youngster.

2. Hedger & Bourne's Trytez Mr Magical At Evemylyn

7 months pup still developing. Ok head, slightly long in foreface. Good neck, straight front, coat still coming through.Showing some early promise, needs a little more substance throughout but time is on his side.

PUPPY DOG (2)

1. Laffling's Taxiki Causin' Chaos

9 month tricolour of pleasing size & substance. Well-constructed with a strong rear with low set hocks. Lovely head on a strong neck. He presents a balanced outline and should mature into a very nice young man. Perhaps a slightly better shoulder placement to complete the picture.

2. White's Araki King Ken Of Teetee

7.5 month gold/white. Still very much a youngster and a little unsettled on the day. Shows promise with a lovely head, good front assembly and well-ribbed back for age. Certainly one to watch as he matures and gains confidence.

JUNIOR DOG (3)

1. Harrison's Boshay Bootiful Momo

2. Barron's Araki Shadow Storm

12 month tri of excellent size, substance & balance. Excels in head with correct length to skull and curved zygomatic arch. Dark eye, strong well-developed foreface giving that important resolute expression. Moved with impressive reach and drive supported by good overall construction, well handled. Just prefered shoulder angulation of 1.

3. Lewis & Miles' Waterley Masterpiece

YEARLING DOG (3,1)

1. Andrews & Price's Lasang Rider On The Storm

22 month black/white male. Sturdy & well made, moderate throughout.

Masculine head without being coarse, adequate neck. Strong loin, level topline, square in outline. Coat in excellent condition and texture. Unfortunately he was a little skittish on the move today but couldn't deny him 1st in the class with his overall quality.

2. Lawrence's Tazique The Emperor

2 yr old black/white. Standing he presents a picture of an honest, generally square TT without exaggeration. Would benefit from further development in body to enhance balance and breed type. Nice head & skull proportions, slightly long in muzzle. Straight forelegs, big feet. Would prefer more angulation. Coat still developing.

NOVICE DOG (1)

1. Charlesworth's Tiamastae Regale

Striking sable/white. Excellent for size & substance, lovely and square. Super head with large expressive eyes, correct bite, strong foreface giving resolute expression. Compact in body with good spring of rib and short, strong loin. Level topline, well angled front & rear construction, moved well.

2. Ford's Avaness Stars Shine Darkly Over Setrique JW

3. Davies' Pinrow Knight In Black

LIMIT DOG (7,1)

1. Palmers' Gemaras Rocket Man

This black/white male instantly caught my eye coming into the ring. Good for size and substance, he has just the right amount of flair in a working mould. Love his head which is strong and masculine without being coarse or over-developed. Dark eye, well furnished, strong neck. Big flat feet, short loin, well-muscled & compact body & high set tail. Considered him for a green card but he came up against some tough competition.

Lovely, square gold/white of correct size. Beautiful head carriage, strong foreface, large, dark eye and moderately curved zygomatic arch. Resolute expression. Strong, compact & sturdy throughout, nothing exaggerated about this young lady and more than capable of doing the job the breed was originally bred for with good heart & lung capacity, well ribbed back & big flat feet. Stood, she presented a balanced outline. Moved with drive.

2. Moore's Silgarhi Bhotiya

Another typey girl who could easily swap places with 1. Square, strong in body, well-muscled & sturdy. Short in back with strong loin & level topline. Moved well although I think the hot weather took the edge off.

Lovely typey girl with lots to like. Excellent for size, great head with round dark eye, excellent bite & correct head to muzzle ratio with strong underjaw. Good front angulation and well set down hocks. Square and balanced standing, just didn't move quite as fluid as 1 which I imagine was due to the heat.

OPEN BITCH (7,1)

1. Willoughby's Palshar All That Glitters JW

The one that gave me goosebumps as she came into the ring. Cannot be faulted on size, shape, condition & style.
